Either the stock 12VHPWR cable on an ATX 3.0 or use the icky ugly NVIDIA pigtail with 8-pin connectors is the safest approach. The part that bothers me is how inconsistent the outcomes are. As I mentioned before, even though I am no longer using the Cablemod parts, I had no issues with them. It seems apparent that many, maybe even the vast majority, are not having problems. Why it happens on some and not others is something I haven't seen a reliable answer for. Seems like they (Cablemod) are still selling lots of products. I stopped using my right-angle adapter just to be safe, but even after all of the hard benching I did, nothing has ever shown any evidence of heat, melting, discoloration or anything else with the adapter or Cablemod cable itself, and nothing ever got hot to the touch. It's weird that this seems so random. If we had a definitive understanding of the cause, it might not be so mysterious. Everyone is just making assumptions and guessing, and Cablemod is the target because they have sold so many. We do not know the percentage of failure or the number of parts sold, we only know about the scary outcomes that get lots of media attention. That makes it scarier and more uncomfortable, not to mention hard on Cablemod. Maybe it should be hard on them, or maybe it shouldn't. We don't know what we don't know, and I hate that. 4 hours ago, electrosoft said: lol, my replacement cablemod cable is still sitting in its bag unused. I'm good for now.... Congrats with the new screen bro @tps3443 🙂 Good 'ole Jensen, trying to force obsolescence of the 4060ti, most likely due to the abysmal sales. He doesn't even have the good in him to cut the price either, he's just giving the middle finger to the few people who purchased a 4060ti... I think it would be dumb of ngreedia to make the 4070 Super with the 103 die. If the performance is to be believed, whats the point of spending more money on a bigger die if the performance is only going to be 5% higher than the Ti? I understand the 4070ti has almost the full 104 die unlocked, but its missing some cache. Surely by adding the remaining cache and clocking it a bit higher it would beat the 4070ti by about 5%. 3 1 Clevo P870TM-G: Core i7 8700k @ 4.8ghz | Clevo RTX 2070 Super | 32gb HyperX DDR4 @ 3200mhz | 17" 1440p 120hz B173QTN01.0 Screen | 256gb Samsung 850 EVO | 500gb WD Blue SSD | Prema BIOS Alienware 17 R1: Core i7 4710mq @ 3.619ghz 741 CBR15 (834 CBR15 @ 4.213ghz) | Dell GTX 860m | 16gb HyperX DDR3L @ 2133mhz | 17" 3D 120hz LTN173HT02-T01 Screen | 256gb mSATA SSD Asus Zephyrus G14: Ryzen 7 4800hs @ 4.2ghz | GTX 1650 | 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz | 14" 120hz LM140LF1F01 Screen | 512gb NVME SSD

And 3080Ti vs 3090 performance was quite close. Hence they need the 4090 Super to be able to sell xx90 cards. In the end... Maybe the better custom 4090 Super AIC cards will land around 2300$. Some maybe even 2400$. Its amusing you have to pay 66% more for maybe 20% higher performance (4090 Super vs 4080 Super) so nothing new here. Both SKUs got one price tier up from previous gen cards. Plus that usage was fairly taxing on your OLED lol My C9 detects static-ish content and dims the screen after a while. Complete static content triggers a full screen saver. All that said, OLEDs are not ideal for 24/7 with static content as they run anti-burn routines while on standby. I'm sure it doesn't apply in your case, but in general it's very important to keep them powered on even when "turned off". 2 "We're rushing towards a cliff, but the closer we get, the more scenic the views are." -- Max Tegmark AI: Major Emerging Existential Threat To Humanity
Custom90gt
Guess I'm glad I waited, I can just pick up a 4080 super and basically get a 4090. I also found out I may be graduating from residency early, December may be a very good month for me. Maybe I'll have my ram by then, lol. I've also ran into a couple of snags with the NR200. The Silverstone SFX-L powersupply is too L, hah. The cables are hitting the 3080 and pushing down on it a little bit. I also cannot fit a 25mm thick fan above it. Time to drill a couple holes to move it up a little more and throw a 15mm thick fan above it. On the topic of OLED screens. The AW3423DWF that I picked up is amazing when it comes to color/black even compared t to the very nice AW3821DW, but the annoying messages about running pixel refresh and my own concerns about leaving things up on the screen too long may make me switch back. I would prefer Mini LED. But I actually got the Aorus 48 for $550, so I could not pass it up! Congrats on the new monitor. I wondered if you bought one of the refurbished models. The retail model is severely overpriced at just under $900. The screen itself should be great. The part that I would have a challenge with is that it has feet at each end, like a TV, instead of a pedestal mount in the center, with no VESA mounting and apparently no way to adjust the height without putting it on some kind of platform. If you frequently share your desktop in conference calls or video meetings the resolution might present some difficulty for other participants. You may have to choose the option to share a specific portion of the screen or only an application window that is resized. Depending on what your company uses for video conferencing, sharing an application window could be problematic because drop down menus and pop-ups do not appear for viewers. If you're onboarding a new employee or providing technical guidance to an existing employee that could be an impediment. I know only because I have run into that problem myself and the only solution with the video conferencing software that we use is to share the entire desktop so that they can see everything. That's where the route comes in on 4K screen. Even 1440p becomes a challenge for viewers in a video conference when you are sharing your desktop. An option would be to change the resolution temporarily to 1080p for the video conferencing and change it back to native resolution when it is finished. Of course, this only applies if you are the one doing the presenting. More often than not, that is the case for me. I'm seriously considering replacing my triple 1080p set up with a dual 4K 120Hz+ for work using smaller screens, like dual 27-inch, but I haven't found two screens with the right specs that are reasonably priced. The also need VESA so I can mount them to a single pedestal. I think I can probably still use my triple monitor pedestal and simply not use the center mounting location. The other thing, besides price, that is holding me back is the idea of going back to dual displays instead of triple makes me feel uncomfortable. I remember not liking a seam in the middle. Having my main display in the center for the application I am actively working on, with ancillary applications like Outlook on the left and other applications and instant messaging on the right, has been a huge boost to the productivity and convenience. The only thing that isn't fantastic about it it's the limited screen space with 1080p. I'm partially color blind and not a snob on color or image accuracy as long as the image quality is very crisp and the refresh rate is 120Hz or higher, but I am a snob about screen real estate. I don't like scrolling left or right, up or down, if I can avoid it. And I like being able to have three Excel sheets open side by side, each full screen so I can see most of the columns that I'm using without the need for scrolling. 4 Wraith // Z790 Apex | 14900KS | 4090 Suprim X+Byksi Block | 48GB DDR5-8600 | Toughpower GF3 1650W | MO-RA3 360 | Hailea HC-500A || O11D XL EVO Banshee // X870E Carbon | 9950X | 4090 Gaming OC+Alphacool Block | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1200x SHIFT | XT45 1080 Nova || Antec C8 Spectre // Z790i Edge | 13900KS | 3090 Ti FTW3 | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1000e | EK Nucleus CR360 Direct Die || Prime A21 Half-Breed // Dell Precision 7720 | BGA CPU Filth+MXM Quadro P5000 | 4K Display | Sub-$500 Grade A Refurb | Nothing to Write Home About Mr. Fox YouTube Channel | Mr. Fox @ HWBOT The average response time for a 911 call is 10 minutes. When I bought it yesterday, it was actually only $480 dollars on newegg. They have been slowly bumping the price up. I could not let it go by, I ordered before I even read refurb. 🤣 Fingers crossed. PS: It has the vesa mounting on the rear. I really didn’t think $800 was bad at all, and. OLED panels are kind of expensive, just like Mini LED panels. You also have KVM switch built in so you can use two computers with the monitor simultaneously with Picture in Picture. 2 13900KF

Yep, the newer models try their best to use tactics to reduce chances of burn in but the core technology is still suspect to it but with a bit of due diligence can be lessened. Miy display burned in within months. I got a replacement. That one burned in again within months. I got another replacement and sold it and switched to a Sony fald model that I'm still using 3-4 years later. I will be looking to upgrade in the next few years though from a 65" to a 75" so we will see. 8 hours ago, Papusan said: Thanks. What with the 4080 Super? Will it be 1199$ and close to 4090 performance, same as 3080Ti vs 3090? Or will Nvidia continue and brand it 4080Ti? Or and will they put an higher price tag for this SKU? AMD 7970 - 3DM 2001 https://hwbot.org/submission/5290219_papusan_3dmark2001_se_radeon_hd_7970_178411_marks?recalculate=true Fun part bro Fox. If the GPU overclock is too high with the older AMD cards the pc will freeze and the Cpu run full speed. With older nvidia card the bench just blink out in nothing and the Cpu will run normal. In short just start up the bench again without the need for re-start. I'm not very happy with how the older AMD cards works and their drivers. Love seeing the 7970 get a workout! That was my main GPU for over a year and a half when it was all shiny and new back in the day. 🙂 As for Nvidia....(disregarding VRAM issues on the 3080 10GB vs 3090 24GB) Well the difference between the 3080ti/3090 scenario is there is a much bigger leap between the 4080 and 4090 giving Nvidia plenty of room to work. The 3080 10gb -> 3080 12gb -> 3080ti -> 3090 -> 3090ti = 8704 -> 8960 -> 10240 ->10496 -> 10752 So 3080 vs 3090 = 8704 vs 10496 = ~20% difference (Even vs 3090ti = ~23%) 4080 -> 4090 = 9728 vs 16384 = ~68% difference (almost 3x difference) Much bigger chasm means close but no cigar. A 4080 Super/TI will not be "on par" with a 4090 as you slot in a 4080 Super/TI with ~13000 shaders and 20GB of memory. The real question is, does Nvidia continue to thumb its nose up in the air and price it at $1399.99? or do they accept reality and either replace the 4080 16GB with it at the $1199.99 price point or drop the 4080 16GB down to $999.99 (forcing AMD's hand with the 7900XTX) along with slotting in the 4080 20GB at $1199? If Nvidia comes to their senses and drops the 4080 16GB down to $999 and slots in a 4080 Super/TI at $1199? That would really put pressure on AMD while also allowing them to just sit atop the roost with the 4090 and potentially a 4090ti/super (I personally prefer TI). I wouldn't put it past Nvidia to release a 4090TI with ~17,408 shaders for $1799-$1999 and keep the full fat 18432 for top of the stack professional cards if at all. There simply is no competition on the top. The real question is their yields. Cores that are slightly not making the full fat cut but have more shaders than the 4090. Looking back at the 3000 series, Nvidia slotting in so many models was insane then the last gasp money grab of the 3090ti wraps it up(and all those AIBs who ordered thinking the good times were going to last lol). It also gives us insight into Nvidia letting no partial core go unused... 🙂 They're not called NGreedia the Green Goblin for nothing.... 4 Electrosoft Alpha: SP109 14900KS | Asrock Z790i Lightning | MSI Suprim X Liquid 4090 | AC LF II 420 | TG 2x16GB 8200 | Samsung 990 Pro 2TB | EVGA 1600w P2 | Phanteks Ethroo Pro | Alienware AW3225QF 32" OLED Ellectrosoft Beta: Eurocom X15 Raptor | i9-12900k | Nvidia RTX 3070ti | Samsung 990 2TB | 15.6" 144hz | Wifi 6E Heath: i9-12900k | EVGA CLC 280 | Asus Strix Z690 D4 | Asus Strix 3080 | 32GB DDR4 2x16GB B-Die 4000 | WD Black SN850 512GB | EVGA DG-77 | Samsung G7 32" 144hz 32" My for sale items on eBay. When I tell you this Suprim X was miles better than the other identical one I tested from Best Buy, that isn't an understatement! 🙂 Runs cooler, pulls less, clocks higher both boost and OC, 2x+ higher on the mem and no coil screech just a low vibration compared to that Best Buy garbage sample. I do wonder what this one would do on chilled water from time to time. 3090 on that 8nm fatty hot Samsung node but there are areas of D4 that will push me to 450w+ stock. I have frames capped in NV to 142 so you can see I'm basically getting cap or near cap everywhere. Those lows are loads/cut scenes. As for Diablo IV, I'm having a blast. Luckily timing I JUST finished doing everything there is to do in FO76 and was entering "dailies repeat cycle" just to maybe progress select buildouts so this came along at the right time (or it was back to WoW). I've played all the Diablos and this one is pretty righteous so far. 3 Electrosoft Alpha: SP109 14900KS | Asrock Z790i Lightning | MSI Suprim X Liquid 4090 | AC LF II 420 | TG 2x16GB 8200 | Samsung 990 Pro 2TB | EVGA 1600w P2 | Phanteks Ethroo Pro | Alienware AW3225QF 32" OLED Ellectrosoft Beta: Eurocom X15 Raptor | i9-12900k | Nvidia RTX 3070ti | Samsung 990 2TB | 15.6" 144hz | Wifi 6E Heath: i9-12900k | EVGA CLC 280 | Asus Strix Z690 D4 | Asus Strix 3080 | 32GB DDR4 2x16GB B-Die 4000 | WD Black SN850 512GB | EVGA DG-77 | Samsung G7 32" 144hz 32" My for sale items on eBay. Other people talking about Diablo really makes me want to try it just becuz, but I have never really liked games like that either, but at the same time I’ve never really tried them or given them a chance. Maybe I’ll give it a try. I really like first person or third person open world RPG games. I am extremely shallow when it comes to games lol.
