My Cablemod 180 Adapter on a 4090 TUF after 2.5 months of use...

9 days later... Mine finally started to melt too, been 3 months with the 180 adapter...

image.png.6df3b74f1961828efd80e6b65e35146b.png

4000 series haven't 4080Ti so the new 4080 Super will be the old xx80Ti model branding. 3080Ti vs 3090 was minor in difference. You think this will be the new 4080Tihttps://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4080-ti.c3887

If they do it this way they can continue with 4090 at 1600$. But if the rumors above was correct (20% performance increase that won't match the increased cuda cores above the 4080). Techpowerups info rumors suggest +44% more cuda cores. 14080 vs 9728 cores.

AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT Gets a Huge Price Cut in Europe, Now Available for Less than €800

GPU Shipments Continued To Decline In Q1 2023: NVIDIA at 84%, AMD at 12%, Intel at 4% Market Share

Oh Cablemod....

If Nvidia wanted to shoehorn in another 4080 derivative with such a wide chasm between the 4080 and 4090, it would make sense to go with ~12000 for Super, 14000 for TI but with market conditions and lackluster sales due to crazy 4080 pricing? The smart play to me is still 4080 (Ti or Super....whatever name they want to give it this time around albeit TPU is leaning towards TI naming convention) with ~13000 shaders and 20GB for $1199.99. I personally think a 4080ti 14000/20GB for $1399.99 is nearly DOA as most buyers will just pony up $200 more for the full on 4090 experience but again a 4080ti at ~13000/20GB for $1199.99 and drop the 4080 16GB down to $999.99? That would pretty much lock up Nvidia at those price points, force AMD to drop the price on the 7900XTX (or accept defeat in most purchases) and the 4090 continues to reign supreme at $1600 untouched. Nvidia could drop a 4090ti late cycle to clean out excess top end dies if needed but with AI gobbling up everything in sight, is it needed? How many dies don't qualify for a full fat Titan/A die but have enough shaders to qualify for a TI level card?

This is Nvidia's race to lose at this point. I'm already thinking of the 5090 / 8900XTX battle 😅

Ideal game over pricing that would put the screws to AMD even more and counter Intel vs Ngreedia typical pricing:

4090.............$1599   vs  same

4080ti...........$1199   vs   $1399

4080.............$ 999    vs  $1199

4070ti...........$ 699    vs  $799

4070.............$ 549    vs   $599

4060ti 16GB.$ 399    vs  $499

4060ti   8GB $ 349   vs   $399 (Just EOL this garbage card)

4060              $269    vs   $299

4050             $ 219    vs   $249

Those small adjustments could change everything and adjust those precious few points in their favor.

But as we know....Nvidia wants it all and gives no quarter with extracting maximum value for their products.

Got a nice find. All info I have seen about this XFX 7970 card say you can't adjust the voltage. And nothing show up in new and older MSI Afterburner or Evga software as expected. Voltage just greyed out. But this Asus GPU Tweak tool you can increase voltage from 1.213 up to 1.281 for this old AMD card🙂 This means I can even have more fun with this old AMD card now😎

Just got game pass, now the fun part downloading games and waiting at what seems like 512kb/s. remember the good old dial up days. 100mb cap

I loaded forza horizon 5 a fairly new game and im able to lock 60 at 4k with high settings with my 3060, it has impressive performance in this game, the thing I wonder though is all the LOD popin trees look like a blob then when your about 10 feet away they show as trees, looks ugly. I'll post some benchmarks with the new nvidia drivers. I just installed a new windows 11 iso. I still have like 270 processes running in the background, I have no idea how to install a clean un-slopped windows 11, as everything is locked down.

Make a backup and run Autoruns as adm and see if there is services/processes you can disable. You find link to the software in my profile https://notebooktalk.net/profile/79-papusan/?tab=field_core_pfield_1

And always download the Portable version if that option is available.

Moreover the pump is quite slow, there is no way to see or control its RPM. and the backplate is small-ish (pre-LGA1700 design). I switched to a DeepCool 3000 RPM AIO and all is well (enough).

That's looking really good. Looking at the second photo with the radiator installed, does the panel that will install over that opening have the ability to mount a fan to blow across the RAM? If so, that would be perfect because it would be blowing air the length of the modules. The fans from the AIO will also be very helpful as you mentioned before, but the addition fan sucking in cold air from outside the case might give it a few degrees of a leg up over the warmed air from the radiator. If you can do both that would also be great.

I'll either edit and upload the memory overclocking video or post some screenshots for you as promised.

Yeah, something I've noticed is that a lot Gigabyte 30 series GPUs and RX 480s and 580s are in for repairs for either the PCIe lanes being smashed under the weight of the card or for dead memory on the bottom of the card nearest to the PCIe lanes.

I've never been a big fan of Gigabytes GPUs as they tend to be big, bulky, and at the lower end, designed weird. (Why the hell does an RX 6600, a roughly 130 watt card, need a cooler that is almost twice the length of the PCB with three fans?)

I've also noticed a lot PNY cards needing general repairs, but I think that's because PNY doesn't really ever honor their "warranty" sadly...

Looking good!

I agree on the thickness of the Arctic. It is a very competent "set and forget" AIO with no bells and whistles and great cooling but everything about it is pretty bulky.

Plenty of room for numerous types of GPUs.

How would you rate it for portability?

I've been comparing the N200R to the LianLi A4 and Dan C4 and while the N200R weighs the most by ~3lbs, dimension wise they are all very comparable. N200R is less than 1" bigger than the Dan C4 across all dimensions LxWxH.

Can't beat $80 shipped for an N200R open box new. The other cases are 2-3x more expensive. Plus the N200R looks easier to work in with regards to removing components quicker than the other two.

I'm also thinking of going with the Z790i Edge and sending back the B650i edge as I have a few extra 12900k's sitting around. Only thing I would lose out is I would need better memory to really let it shine with DDR5 unless this other set of newer M-die can hit 7400 where one of my 12900k's gives up the ghost.

Lmao so here's how bad my lack of attention to detail has been with this build. The MB that I bought was mislabeled and is a Z690-i not a Z790-i, fml. I dunno if it's worth returning because it was cheap and my old Z690 setup ran just fine. I also have a super weird issue where my second NVMe SSD doesn't show up in windows but does in bios. And to top it all off, I couldn't get the 3080 Ti to show up at boot, after struggling I found a VGA bios update that fixed that though. My initial thought is if I'll be graduating in december, I may just ride this out and then buy a 4090/14th gen cpu/Dan C4 then.

@electrosoft, the NR200 is really nice and I actually don't know how I could fit stuff in a smaller case unless it had a much better layout like the Dan C4. Coming from my NZXT H700i, this is super portable and really easy to use.

@Mr. Fox, I can fit a couple fans on that top panel blowing down, but was planning on using them as exhaust. The fresh air flow from the radiator fans is actually quite good on those memory modules.

@Papusan sorry to bug you bro but when I disable secure boot it asks for a bit locker key. I can't seem to format c drive and do a fresh install.

I'd like to add I have never had these issues in 30 years. Never ever. There's something blocking it every time I proceed

I've either been hacked or have a virus that is beyond what I'm able to fix. I don't typically have these kinds of issues so I'm not well versed in recovery methods

That's not good... sounds like somebody turned on drive encryption. If you don't have the key then you might be in a pickle. Secure Boot is bad enough, but that plus Bitlocker...

Try this...

1. Launce cmd.exe as admin, then type diskpart and press Enter.

2. Then input these commands below in turn:

  • list disk
  • select disk n (here n stands for the disk you want to format)
  • list partition
  • select partition (here n stands for the encrypted partition you want to format)
  • delete partition override

3. Type exit to close window. This will wipe all the data on the encrypted hard drive. Then you could create new partition on that drive again.

If that doesn't work you will need third-party software . Try nuking the drive with this... https://www.diskpart.com/articles/format-encrypted-hard-drive-5740i.html

Bit locker is doing what it's supposed to. If it's disabled while the OS is present then it will ask for a verification or refuse the boot cycle.

+320$ for only one single available PCIe 8pin connector you may not even can use. What a waste of metal and components and engineering. What a flawed/awful PSU design. Maybe Asus want 320$ extra for a second PCIE 8pin connector so you can power up an old fashion GPU? Or happy with +80$ premium? People with SFX needs will often buy the cheaper less powerful graphics cards that often come with a single 8-pin GPU power connector. And this PSU is barely usable for what it was meant for.

And whats wrong with this article bro @Mr. Fox? One good hint for you... Tweaktown's stupid editor that gave this PSU a golden 99% rank for features this PSU don't have. Yep this editor is either damn stupid or have never touched or seen a good PSU ever before in his whole life.

You can't even use this 850W PSU for anything outside a nvidia GPU that have the 12VHPWR connector. Yep, many custom 4000 series Nvidia cards + newest AMD cards will use the old 8-pin connector. You can't do that with this PSU because You'll need the lonely 8pin connector to power up the MB. And what if you need the single 8-pin to power up the MB if you have a GPU with 12VHPWR connector... You won't get any 8 pin connectors at all. Only the few small sata/molex connctors. Nice

Where is the fantastic features thats worth a score of 99% in this review? The small bling bling connector on right bottom?

Wouldn't this be a very nice 12VHPWR power connector design for the melting 4090 cards ? A real No worry, be happy design. Can't be better than than this. Out of sight and out of mindimage.gif.d2b7582cdd5b6a8a2ad30acb9d5bb803.gif🤮

Main settings maxed at 4k getting that oh so sweet cinematic motion lol.

I don't mind 30fps but for most games 60fps is the sweet spot, as for 120fps I can do that but I don't feel a difference im not sensitive like most people.

I would like to ADD PC Master Race is over, all we get is Console ports. We get ports and it's not going to change, its great that we now get exclusives like unchartered and god of war ect, however it would be nice to get PC exclusives that are ground breaking graphically and gameplay wise, Who knows what the future holds but I smell BGA

I am about to assemble my brothers build. I'm just waiting on the RX 6600 to arrive. (People are sleeping on these, you can get them used for under 150 USD which is quite a steal for a decent 1080p gaming card.)

My brother sadly made the switch to Win11 (unwillingly, he delayed the update but he said one day his laptop just started updating to 11 without his choice...) and would prefer to stay on it. It seems to be a minefield with these custom Win11 ISOs in terms of how safe and effective they actually are. I am looking for a custom installation that keeps most of the functionality of the GUI intact, but strips out a lot of the useless background crap and has been proven to not be safe. Would any of you guys know a specific ISO that would fulfill my needs?

The one that I linked a day or two ago is the best. Brother @Talonalso tested it and validated it's excellence. The W11 21H2 build Lite Plus from oprekin.com is what I use. Any W10 or W11 build in version 22H2 is going to be harmful to CPU performance and be packed with more filth.

Hey @tenoroon I have tried this and it did work to stop Blindows from upgrading to the next build

TargetReleaseVersionInfo
Step 1. On Win10 Pro, Education or Enterprise, version 1803 or later, right-click the Start button and choose Windows PowerShell (Admin)

Step 2. Copy this line into the PowerShell window and press enter:

reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate /f /v TargetReleaseVersion /t REG_DWORD /d 1

Step 3. Copy this line into the PowerShell window and press enter:

reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate /f /v TargetReleaseVersionInfo /t REG_SZ /d 1909

In place of “1809” you can put any of the recent Win10 version numbers – 1809, 1903, 1909, or 2004

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate

Just do a littlt research on the build #'s as to what you want to stay on

Also in gpedit.msc, under windows components\windows update\windows update for business Manage Preview Builds can be set to the build you want

Or just use Win 10 (1809 - 2021) LTSC. Then he can update to whatever new build/CU patches without being forced into Win 11.

This OS version have soon been running 4 years and without any interrupt. Haven't even needed use the Macrium backup.

I’m ready!!

This box was like 100lbs 😅

The monitor looked brand new to me and unused. It’s perfect! Very happy. Saturday delivery for $5.99 shipping, can’t beat that! What a deal this thing was.

I can hook up my MacBook USB-C and it charges it and displays video signal/audio etc. And while my PC is hooked up, and it simultaneously pops between both devices on my display. With whichever mouse I move. 🤯

3DMark graphics scores are lower with LTSC 2019 and 2021. That is the only reason I moved to the Oprekin 21H2 LitePlus mod. It kept the CPU performance largely intact while not hindering the GPU. That is why I multi boot. Sometimes there is a difference and when benching I am targeting higher scores more than an OS that I like using.

Yep, I know. That's why I have sixtuple multi-boot setup on my desktop. 3xWin10, 1xWin7, 1xWin8.1 and Win11. And I will add the 7th OS on my desktop for gaming when I get a new NVMe ssd. No need for all this on my Clevo laptop. But I prefer the old Win 1809 LTSC version as main OS. And I have loads of older cards I enjoy have fun with, so... One for all, doesn't fits all needs. The time with one great OS that managed everything is gone.
