😄- I figured any more detail than that would be TMI...

Do you mean the PCIe auxilliary connection? If so, I wondered the same. I hope it can handle the demands of the 3090 KINGPIN on the PCIe slots.

Yes, I will upload a photo later tonight after dinner and TV with Mrs. Fox

Yes, but I haven't figured out how to turn it on yet. It is plugged in, but doesn't seem to do anything. I will have to look at the manual. Probably user error on my part

I haven't really done any tuning yet and I will definitely need to use the chiller and maybe some liquid metal if not a delid. I basically arbitrarily decided to set multis for P and E cores, didn't touch cache yet, and chose 1.300V to start for the CPU and then applied the XMP profile with 1.350V on the RAM. I don't even know if this is good, because I haven't really been studying 12900K benchmark that close yet.

That's definitely above average right there, so that is indeed a very good chip. You should be able to hit 42 on the Ecores. I believe with a delid and the chiller on that chip, you should hit 12500cb

Awesome that's good to know. It'll be fun tuning it. I just literally took a wild guess and hit save and exit on the BIOS. It'll be interesting to see how low the voltage can go and how high the clocks can go at the same time.

So if you already have an EK Quantum Velocity block I and more than happy to send you this back plate. The one I ordered from EK that includes the bolts and nuts was only a penny and with the shipping it was about what I paid for this for the backplate only with no other hardware from Amazon, LOL.

The threads in it are larger than the studs on my OptimusPC hardware kit, but I'm guessing you should be able to use the studs with the EK block you already have and the only thing different is the wider spacing. That is just an assumption on my part. The threads for the studs in the backplate are the same size as the x299 mounting hardware from OptimusPC, but the studs are not long enough to reach through to the back plate.  Otherwise I could have used the x299 hardware.

As long as it's turned on in the bios it will work. It controls either bclk or multipliers, over clock retry and over clock save boot. Also clear cmos.

I think it is enabled in the BIOS. Called OC Dashboard? But, it is still not working for some reason. Maybe mine is defective.

It is working. I am not sure what was wrong. I disabled it in the BIOS, shut down and disconnected it. Booted and re-enabled it in the BIOS, rebooted. Then shut down again and plugged it in. Now it is working. Maybe it just needed to be reset or something. It is really too bad this doesn't have round cable that is very flexible like a USB cable rather than the flat ribbon cable. It's a nice gadget. I like it.

If you know someone well that works there, maybe they would be willing to test one or two on an in-house build using an ASUS mobo if you slipped them a little something extra for the added effort. In the name of customer service, of course. 😉

The good part is at the end of the video. About what bin quality people should expect for the K chips a few weeks before the KS see the lights 🙂

And not the only Intel do for newer chips....

Intel Axes Alder Lake's AVX-512 Support, Now Fuses It Off in Silicon

Intel would like you to step up to its more expensive Xeon chips if you want AVX-512 support with its newer architectures. Meanwhile, AMD is rumored to bring support for AVX-512 to its Zen 4 chips, which is an odd twist if Intel continues to not support the instructions on its consumer hardware.

I remember how he initially said that SP rating is not real lol in the past. IMHO his Caseking was also too much overpriced rip off in Euros as well. Just remembered it seeing him using SP rating officially. I think he never did mention any SP rating quality in his previous videos and I found this video when I was researching on the SP thing as a whole..

5:42 is the mark where he says it's not true that ASUS found something to find out binning of Intel processors. 😝 I mean he says true that you need to test, but ignores the reality of VID, which the CPU requests the motherboard and it's the element of a parameter that Intel puts in the CPU when testing, which is the only possible measure anyone can have to determine the CPU silicon quality because of the low leakage, voltage and high clocking capability.

Also very important thing, he did not mention the SP rating of the new processor PLUS no VID table shown either for either of them, because of lack of an ASUS Board. TBFwWithout seeing that how can we see the other "random CPU" and it's important aspects.

Honestly even MSI added the option now fully, I would see SP as a very important factor. Plus remember ASUS and MSI never advertise the SP thing at all only to enthusiasts it matters, also It's not marketed thing like RGB crap. It's a real Intel Factory binning parameter that should not be ignored. In this era of trash products, crappy marketing and RGB nonsense and super focus on gaming, we should be glad to have such metric exposed to consumers who pay good money for their hardware.

The heat from the PCH on this thing is ungodly. I took out two of the five NVMe SSDs because the PCH exceeds 90°C with all five M.2 slots filled. With three it is still hovering in the 70's. I am going to have to do some kind of a cooling mod to fix that. I want to be able to use all five NVMe SSDs.

Weird PCH temp increase with more drives when not all are in use. What if you run an ATTO Disk Benchmark  ? This ssd bench is known to tax the ssd's.

Man, that is really terrible news. Very sorry to hear that Brother John. And, since they "don't sell o-ring kits for Hydro Copper" they probably can't even attempt to service yours. They should, at the very least, offer to give you a full refund for the Hydro Copper.

For me this is just additional confirmation that spending the extra money on a KPE GPU isn't really worth it because of all of the severe limitations you have to tolerate in association with ownership. Owning the best GPU money can buy is totally worthless if you can't service it due to lack of parts availability from the manufacturer and nothing available from a third party. Availability of the OptimusPC block is a joke (as much as I want one). If you order one now you might be lucky enough to have arrive within 180 days.

You should do what I did before the Hydro Copper block became available. Not as good as a legit block, but still way better than the hybrid abortion. Cut the black plastic retainers at the hybrid's radiator ends of the tubing, slide the tubing off the radiator barbs and install QDC fittings on barbs to run it through your loop, and put an MP5WORKS block on the backplate.

That is why they called, They were trying to give me my money back but I was trying to see if they would be getting more later. If they were, then I would hold out and be in the first group of folks getting blocks. But what I took from the conversation is....I think these blocks are going to be no more. And if so, I don't want to mod this one as I might put it up for sale as well. I'm still thinking on it.

I did try ordering that block but the payment would not go through. It kept timing out. That block is going to be a keep for lots of gpus to come...

One life to live!

Enjoy it. You deserve it.

I personnally been shopping ELECTRIC cars (lol) no later then last month i was totally against it. Seems i changed my mind. Going for the Kia EV6 GT line 2.  Little over my budget but wife agreed. FUNNY how we need our wifes to contol ourserfes when it comes to spending money.

You mean you rented a car? I expect you know you don't fully own it😀

You Don’t Really Ever Own an EV

You Don’t Really Ever Own an EV

Buying an electric vehicle is a lot like buying a subscription to a car. Almost no one can work on them except the manufacturer, features get locked behind in-app purchases or software updates, and those features can get disabled at the flip of a switch. If carmakers can dictate how you use your car, do you really even own it?

These days cars are like a smartphone or computer, constantly getting software and security updates, new features, and occasionally they’ll even lose features. Furthermore, those fancy features aren’t available to everyone who “buys” the car. Instead, you’ll have to buy in-app purchases to unlock those features.

Yep, todays modern cars is filled up with computers. Not so unlike real computers.  Hence the post fits in here, HaHa🙃

All, have a nice weekend.
