Wow, they lowered it to MSRP? Arent we lucky 😂

Well in their defense it is an aftermarket design not the reference model but now you can get a better model for the same price! 🙂

So yeah...kinda.

Throw in a 10% off code on top of it and get it for $810.00 if you are US based too.

Question for the super geeks ( I am only a mega geek) 🙂 Is PCIE 5 of any benefit at this time? The reason I am asking, is because I have since canceled my build order place on the 25th of December, (4) times. Mostly because I dont like the original motherboard choice I had. Plus I really dont want to spend $1000 on one that used to cost 75% less a short 3 years ago. I am ony

Ive narrowed it down to these two choices. I am going with MSI purely for the fact that canonkong at winRaid recommends them for Windows 7 installation.

Not really in the here and now but if you plan on keeping this build for 2-5yrs it will be in the future. If this is a long term build, I'd go with the Carbon.

I was looking at MSI boards just yesterday contemplating keeping this XFX 7900XTX and doing a 7800X3D build out along the lines of having an A770 build for Intel (the wife uses it) to go along with my Nvidia build.

They're both carbons. One is the b650 carbon, the other is a x670e carbon. The 670 has pcie 5, but is $150 more. In all my AMD builds I've used the X** series chipsets. The only B series I've used is the one I have currently  (B350) (freebie). (Stupid motherboard prices.)

Yeah I was definitely referring to the X670E. Only B series I've used was a Gigabyte on my brother's mATX build (B550 w/ 5600x) he is still using.

I keep looking at this XFX 7900XTX in my case atm and it is a great sample all around and I am fighting hard to not do a complete X3D buildout but I feel like I'm losing the battle. 🤣

Yep. And no one care. Maybe too old cards for the redddit gamer kids. I mean all regardless if they have older or newer graphics cards should be darn angry. Because nvidia will try do exactly the same with their newer cards. But the most disappointing thing is that AIC manufacturers also don't care. I expect they will just move on and try sell a new generation cards that will be equal destroyed/crippled by nvidia. Imagine you bought a nice custom tuned Porche with 500Hk and after 5 years you let the fabric service it and they cap the HP down to 350hk. Its a scam. a hug scam. And nvidi treat their desktop cards in same way as the Jokebook graphics.... And yep, Maxwell also for jokebooks.... Nvidia's latest drivers again disable overclocking for GTX900M graphics cards

Yep instead for fully disable overclock for desktop cards.... Just remove voltage adjustments in the driver. Whats the difference between fully or half castrated?

image.png.8f8e466c1bd43cd01d8cf046f42c858a.png

Why is Maxwell cards always in the spotlight for <nvidia's stupidity>?

They are basically equivalent to a 3080 yes. I'm waiting to get a 6800 XT myself, but I'm waiting for the price to dip below $500. You could get them new for around $520 during newegg's last big black friday and christmas sales. I'd say around $600 is a bad deal for used ones given it was possible to obtain a new one for less than that just a few weeks ago.

I think I might've waited too long though as prices seem to be going back up again... Screw this crappy market.

I think in raster there are a little faster as 3080 but they are taking a big hit in RT. Are the 3080 also not under 600dollars?

In Germany you can find the 3080 10gigs at under 600 euro some times.

All cards below 4090 is of bad value right now. And the older cards need to be cheaper if this should be an option.

All radiators will crash with each other if you want something more than the vanilla 27-30mm rads in push or pull. Forget thicker rads in push and pull. Rather buy a big enough case than hope for better cooling in a halfbaked mid chassis.

And I don't like this or similar cooling consept... Even if you add more fans in front of the graphics card as for the TT case.

If they can stop being so idiotic about the price it will be a respectable option for people that don't want to (or cannot afford to) spend a crap ton of money on a GPU. This should be priced around $450-$550. If it hits $650 it becomes a stupid option.

Bottom line: If your case does not allow you to configure  your system exactly the way you want it, you made a mistake and chose the wrong case. We all make mistakes. That is part of being human. Deliberately spending money in a way that requires compromise or settling for something less than what you want really diminishes the pleasure of PC ownership. When you do that, it suggests that your standards are either set low, not important enough to call them standards, you lack the financial resources to do what you want, or you didn't really want what you thought you wanted nearly as much as you thought.

Yeah, I am using the latter setup + bottom intake fan + 200mm side fan. Altogether 11 120mm fans including the AIO + 1x 200mm. Does the job while being fairly quiet (overall much quieter than a laptop under heavy load). Most of the fancy new cases I see don't look like an improvement, and are typically much smaller than my Cosmos S.

If you want a decent gaming GPU at a reasonable price while you wait for stupid to wear off current generation stuff, grab yourself a 3060 Ti. Honestly, I am super-happy with the one I have in terms of gaming performance. Literally everything is around 100 FPS. I like it far more than I expected I would and for the price it has no rival. Overall, great gaming performance (better than a 6900 XT with ray tracing enabled) and for $200-$300 less. I bought mine as a B-stock from EVGA and it is flawless. I am not sure what kind of cosmetic blemish it had, but whatever it was I could not identify it.

So I just picked up a 6800xt for $550 on ebay. I messaged him, and he accepted. Seller says these cards are all less than 1 month old, and not used for mining. It's a sapphire nitro card.

Looks like you can use G-sync on a freesync monitor.....cool. I didnt realize that when looking for a GPU.

Must be a fairly new thing?

I think that has been the case for 2 or 3 years. I've been hearing chatter about it for a very long time. I do not use either one and deliberately disable G-stink. There is a differnce between the hardware G-stink and the software G-stink/Freesync, but I do not pay any attention to either one. I do recall some of the people that spent extra for monitors with special G-stink hardware got kind of emotional about everyone else getting it for free on cheap monitors, and I suspect NVIDIA wasn't happy about it.

Congrats, that's a solid card and one of my favorites. I'm a sucker for Sapphire's Nitro line up.

So what's the total system specs going to be?
