I have already done this. Installed realtek and the clevo speaker/creative audio configuration driver. Still says no devices connected support atlas.

does not support 11th gen

For me (many system updates), Obsidian (Full Licence) does not run very well, and although it is written on their website that they are focusing on something else, the software can be bought and downloaded... there is no Support, there is no response. A full program update would be recommended, because it is not recommended to buy! It used to work perfectly! A PremaBIOS for my machine would be nice! If anyone could help me with this, I would appreciate it!

/Warranty expired/

Any update appears but not installed yet (MS or nV Display update) then Obsidian "PC FAN Control" GPU FAN is "Disabled" and after the update it will be good again...

In "Control Station" (also Obsidian), the multipliers are set, then applied, but jumps back to the factory settings. (there was no problem with this before either) Drivers and everything properly installed, configured and set. The thing is quite suspicious of incompatibility! Instead of this, a PremaBIOS would be the best!

  • 2 weeks later...

I am trying to find instructions on how to edit the windows install script/ files. Even with an ISO for LTSC, I want to disable telemetry and other things like windows update at installation before Windows is loaded on the computer. Does anyone have links to guides or videos on how to do this?

Good news.

Heard back from Zoltan last week that the new replacement 2080S is in stock to replace my defective 2080S in my X170SM-G.

I am also having them clean up all that K5 Pro and just use stock thermal pads with the 2080S.

I'll be switching back in the original memory, 256GB SSD and swapping in a Celeron G5900 before shipping it off for the GPU swap. I don't want to take any chances of any mishaps with this choice, golden 10900k that is in there.

Good thing it is going out for repair. While doing the clean test install the artifacts kept getting worse and worse till it shut down and now won't boot (blank screen) and all I get is a series of yellow blinking lights on the front indicator light (left one between the two) before it then settles back to green so some diagnostic code.

It ships out tomorrow.

I wanted to upgrade from the 10600k to a possibly golden sample 10700k, I wonder where you could even purchase one if any, thanks

You would probably have better luck upgrading to a golden 10900k as those do pop up from time to time but more importantly the best bins from Intel were assigned to 10900k chips in general.

You can ask on various forums for golden samples but for our use in X170SM/KM chassis, low pull and not leaky are priorities. I've tested a few chips including an SP114 that would have rocked on a competent desktop but in the X170SM-G was a lower vcore but hotter running chip than my golden SP101.

I've tested ~8 10900k's now and the Silicon Lottery 10900k I have SP101 still reigns supreme even over an LTX limited golden 10900k and the SP114 I tested (all were delidded).

But as long as you lock down a known good sample it will most likely be better than a raw out of the box chip unless you just get a crazy lucky pull like @Ashtrix who bought a boxed retail sample and it was an SP113.

System is on its way as I type. Didn't get it out till 1/3/2023. I asked Zoltan to let the techs know to not use K5 Pro but standard thermal pads and clean up all that mess as that stuff was a moist, weird, degrading mess that seemed to start oozing an oil type substance.

When I get it back, I'll clean up the VRMs too and just use standard thermal pads there too if they don't clean that up and use thermal pads.

wanted one mostly because of undervolting more than anything given the constraints, wonder how much a binned 10900k go for

by the way, forgive the ignorance, what do you mean by "low pull and not leaky" ?

Every CPU has variances in regards to how much power they require and how hot they run. Heat output variances is a byproduct of power requirements it pulls at a given frequency. Some chips can handle a better undervolt than others and as a result run cooler.

Some chips just run hotter at the same power requirements as other chips.

You want to find a good sample that isn't power hungry, can handle a decent undervolt to reduce power consumption even more and runs as cool as possible given the cooling constraints of the X170SM-G.

I think somewhere in this thread I have a post testing at least 4-5 10900k's and showing how they can greatly vary in regards to power and heat.

yes indeed, that was my aim and why I wanted the 10700 in the first place, best I could do with this 10600k was around -92mv for stable daily operations, and a more potent cpu would put the x170 to the limit even if delidded and with liquid metal.

So you say my best bet would be to wander around forums and try finding sellers then? I checked websites like caseking in germany but they only have the 11900k as pretested ( and at 700 euros to boot), silicon lottery has closed too so no go there either, such a pity

I'd say try going up in steps of 100 MHz at most and raise the voltage by 50mv each time you experience instability. That has seemed to work well for me so far.

What about the timings? Do I put everything to 0 (auto) and only change the frequency and voltage? I see a option for 100mhz or 133mhz and then there is a multiplier.

I assume 133mhz with a 18x multi is 2400mhz?

I assume 133mhz with a 18x multi is 2400mhz?

100 MHz base with a 12x multiplier will be 2400 MHz effective. The multipler in this BIOS reflects the single data rate speed, so double that multipler to get your effective speed.

I know, weird right? At first I couldn't figure out why my laptop wouldn't boot when I manually set all the settings in my custom profile to the exact same settings from my XMP profile. Turns out, I was misinterpreting the multiplier and trying to run my sticks at 6400 MHz effective. Start with auto timings if you can.

If that's Prema, you should be able to just go right in and adjust the custom timings and frequencies to your liking.

Standard bin scaling till it tops out (expect 3200, hope for more). Set Vmem to ~1.45v just for some headroom while scaling and loosen those timings to 22-22-22 so you can see how far the memory and system board will go frequency wise.

@Clamibot approach works too but I just like to front load the Vmem and take it out of the equation and scale that way and once I find out how much it can scale (frequency/timings) I then start to dial in the best Vmem.

2666Mhz auto timing worked but when I tried 2933mhz auto timing it’s not booting.

is there a hardware key combo to reset bios while booting or how does one reset it on this laptop?

i wanted to push it as far as it can go on stock 1.2v with ok timings.

Pull the battery and power supplies, then pull the CMOS battery, wait 15-30 seconds, then plug the CMOS battery back in. Don't worry if you still get a black screen, it will take about twice as long to boot than normal after a reset as the laptop is rebuilding a voltage table for your CPU.

Ok will do. Was hoping Prema bios had some key combo to make it easy.

Do you think it didnt boot because it needed more voltage? I assume normally auto timings should work fine as long as voltage is fine

EDIT: Increased voltage and 2933mhz still doesn’t boot. Perhaps this 2400mhz kit just can’t reach that high.

2666Mhz auto timing worked but when I tried 2933mhz auto timing it’s not booting.

is there a hardware key combo to reset bios while booting or how does one reset it on this laptop?

i wanted to push it as far as it can go on stock 1.2v with ok timings.

Fn+D on power on should technically reset the CMOS/BIOS but sometimes you will need to remove the CMOS and battery.

When doing memory tuning I tend to remove both as I know I'm going to be doing a lot of note taking and experience a lot of blank screens requiring a reset. Then all you have to do is unplug the power cable(s) to auto reset the unit.

Did you loosen up the timings too? It can definitely be the kit just can't go any higher than 2667 but make sure to relax your timings and set your Vmem to ~1.35 at least.

Hello everyone.
Finally I got some magic and now my laptop is charged with PREMA bios.
I started diving deeper into RAM overclocking and ran into a problem.
I have a kit that supports XMP with a 3200Mh frequency.
But when installing two modules near the CPU, they run at a frequency one step less - 2933 MHz. And the XMP profile is not available and is not even visible in the BIOS. (:classic_ohmy:)
If you put two modules in single-channel mode (one under the keyboard, the second near the CPU), then the XMP is activated automatically, and everything works as expected.
I have tried every possible combination of module installations, and have not been able to come up with a good result.
Do I understand correctly that it remains just to put two sticks in dual channel and go for a long and painful time to adjust their frequency and timings through the BIOS? :classic_wacko:

Thanks for this information! I didn't know about that keyboard combination. Is there a list of different special keyboard combinations for this laptop along with a description of what they do? So far, I now know about the following:

  • Press Fn + 1 - Set fans to max speed
  • Hold Fn + D on startup - Reset BIOS
  • Hold Fn + M, then press the power button once - ???. I saw this button combination on NBR before it shut down, but I have no idea what it does.

That's very strange. The XMP profile doesn't show up at all in the memory overclocking section? What kit did you get?

Try setting everything to auto timings and set the voltage to 1.35 volts. I'm pretty sure 3200 MHz will require around 1.35 volts.
