In that case you can try . It is up to you . 

I have a KM-G with same CPU as you with 3080 . It is perfect . My remarks are regarding the plastic used for the chassis .

The lower plastic is connected as well as the other heatsink or not?

Do you have something okay for the 2080 Super for the factory and the wet heatsink, after 3080 installation? (I do not think so)

Quality of the plastic used is not very good in my opinion . For less than a year all plastic holder for the bottom cover screw inserts became damaged . None of them was overtighten . Most of them I was able to repair except one ( it is necessary to disassemble the whole laptop and I do not want to do it since it is still under a warranty ) .

I have more than 2 years now and the material composition is right, no problem with it. I hope it won't be! 🙂

I am running on 2gb fiber to the house and want to upgrade the wireless card in my x170sm-g to 802.11be, but from what I am reading, 10th gen Intel processors are not compatible with 802.11be because of CNVio2? Can someone explain this and if the X170sm-g will be upgradable to Wi-Fi 7? I mean it already has a 2.5Ghz eithernet port, I can't see why Wi-Fi wou;dn't work.

had the bright idea to update my 2019 ltsc to 2021 version and lo and behold, sfxi audio, sound blaster atlas etc started working again...it's almost as if installing an OS that's older than the machine itself would give rise to some problems..

 

In my defense there was no ltsc 2021 at the time 😄

Does anyone know the size and thread of the screws that hold the bottom panel on the x170smg ? I know I can get them from the retailer, but I am not going to pay $20-$35 plus shipping for 8 screws when I can get a 50 pack on amazon for $5

Get the 500 pack from amazon or ebay. The size you need will be in there. Good to keep around for repairs when screws get stripped or missing.

🙂 Thanks lol. Which 500 pack? lol. There are 500 packs for tiny screws, screws for cars, deck screws, :-D.  Honestly, do you have a link to the recommendation?

 

I did order an Intel AX210 to replace the Killer 1650x I have in the laptop, its giving me access to 6Ghz wi-fi and Bluetooth 5.3.  I was hoping to wait for Wi-Fi 7 (be) cards to be available, but it looks like we are still 6 months to 12 months out for those.

Found out that Windows 10 recognizes the card fine and through reg edits, I can enable 6Ghz access in Windows 10, but for the 6Ghz network to show up so I can connect to it, gotta upgrade to Windows 11 which is really disappointing.....

Probably going to put the 1650x in a different laptop that needs AX wi-fi access.

 

Is the Radeon RX 6600 any good compared to an RTX 2070 8gb ? Apparently is it available in MXM format and I want to upgrade my Nvidia card to something newer?

Could anyone help me ? I have Clevo x170sm with a 2060 card. I would like to replace it with a 2080 super from the Clevo website. The compatible part is 6-77-X170L-D04-W, but it is beyond my financial reach. However, I have the option to purchase 6-77-X170L-D04-C from the P751TM1 laptop. I would like to know if I can replace the graphics card without any problems, if the TDP is the same as in version X

I am not sure, if there would be compatibility problems, but the RTX 2080 is 150W and RTX 2080 Super is 200W. So that's a pretty big difference in terms of TDP. Not sure how that translates to performance but the difference is definitely there. Also I think the 2080 Super has a little bit more shader cores or something.

I'm currently using PTM7950-sp paste form from ebuy7 and the IETS GT626 cooling pad from aliexpress (something amazing). While gaming, the temperatures are 3x degrees Celsius and when under hard stress, 5x degrees Celsius, but I often use the silent mode. I hope that after changing the graphics, the work culture will remain unchanged. I,ve selled IETS GT500 it is definitly worst than GT626.It is masterpiece.

its loudy but im using Sony ANC and its perfect 😉 1000-1200 rpm is acceptable (35-4x decibels -cant measure that ) for GT626 and makes miraclles - try it, its the same positive suprise like PTM7950-sp - think its better than water cooling, no joking. My idle temps are the same on delidded 10700k, laptop is always very cold. Air presurre makes nvme cold to, really miraclles. this wonderful thing should get some kind of award. Nothing has surprised me so positively in electronics for several years. Try it.

Looks like it will be worth a try when it gets an official release.

I would be interested in using it with lower fan speed as I prefer a more quiet environment, does it have an option to vary the fan speed?

Yes you can switch from 0-400-600-800-1000-1200 and much louder 1400-1600-1800-2000-2200-2400-2600 and crazy 2800 rpm. You can order this cooling pad from aliexpress. Best results with honeywell PTM.

This avoids being disassembled for paste (1x per year) I have a water block and a full water system, so it is not particularly disturbed by the paste efficiency, but if it is better than the paste, I could replace it.

I switched to the Honeywell PTM7950  a few months ago and absolutely love it and its not a headache to use like liquid metal or paste. Expensive stuff though, I ordered it from the mod site where you get the real stuff, not the knock off stuff.

Anyone trying out the 990 Pro 4TB drives in their X170's yet? 4TB just came available maybe 2 weeks ago, with 3 of them, that will set you up with 12TB + 2TB in the SATA slot.

Black Friday specials are kicking around and I got the 990's for $249 each so I upgraded. With the Western Digital, this sets me up at 14TB of storage. They are all single sided drives, I am hoping to see 8TB or 16TB versions at some point in the next 2 years.

dayum nice! what kinda storage setup are u running? performance or redundancy first? also, whatcha using that space for? not judging here, im also sporting a 24TB SSD setup 😄
