Are there any other utilities out there that are more regularly updated that can deal with Microsoft telemetry? WindowsPrivacyDashboard hasn't been updated in nearly a year and even Shutup10++ is going on three months. At the very least, are there any programs that support 22H2?

Rejection of flawed or harmful tech doesn't by itself make anyone a Luddite. Delaying Windows "upgrades" for as long as possible is a time-tested quality of  Windows experience maximisation strategy.

Microsoft continue experimenting with their buggy trashware. They sink lower in QC and quality for each new day they work with their junk. I wonder where Microsoft got their software engineers.

Exactly.

Upgrading to a new version of Windows that is less than 2 years old is not recommended especially when it still buggy as hell.

According the OS marketshare Win 11 is up to 18% while Win 10 still dominating at 68.7% and Win 7 is at 9.62%

https://gs.statcounter.com/os-version-market-share/windows/desktop/worldwide

Win 11 is going to be a forgettable OS with Win 12 releasing sometime next year.

It's the same broken record every time a new version of windows is released.  The only time it was warranted was me edition.  Every other version was awesome. VISTA and 11 being my two favourites.

Its the same broken record that still remains true today and its the same reason why companies wait years to switch to a new OS. Win 11 is still buggy and many people that rush to upgrade to it end up breaking their PCs in the end. In fact it didnt add anything new as of yet over Win 10. Oh yeah older computers cant upgrade Win11 because of TPM 2.0 but there are workarounds but its pretty difficult for the average user. Another bad move from Microsoft...

Same.  Aside from the various issues I have with Windows 11 (...wrote it up, link in sig...), I've tried to upgrade twice and both times rolled back within a day or so because it's just not ready.  Dumb design things but me off like not allowing seconds on the taskbar clock, way less flexibility for the Start Menu than Windows 8/10, and then there are the outright bugs (I was getting crazy stutter/hangs on my laptop when I tried, and you only have to look at tech news outlets for things that are failing after every other monthly patch).  They clearly aren't paying the same attention to QC that they used to.  Not to mention that I am not a fan of them just dropping new "features" multiple times per year without any real flexibility to avoid this from non-Enterprise end users.

When they're willing to commit to a long-term support version, I'll give it another shot.  Prior to this I have always been the guy to upgrade to a new Windows release day one, or even earlier if I could snag the RTM bits from TechNet/etc.  I happily used Vista even with its (for the time) high system requirements, or Windows 8 with its dumb user experience choices, because "under the hood" they offered serious improvements.  Windows 11 is more like a new coat of paint on the surface but doesn't really seem to be "better" underneath, and in some cases it is just unnecessarily dumbed down.

I'd recommend StartAllBack to fix the start menu. It has Win 7 and Win 10 defaults you can work off of and lots of flexibility to tweak the start menu how you want it. It does a better job than Start11 in my experience. Win 11 is just awful without it.

Yes, I'm aware of StartAllBack but I'm actually using Start11.  I really like their implementation of the Windows 10 style menu (multiple pages, custom tile colors, custom tile images, etc. are things you cannot even do with the Windows 10 base menu).  But the fact that third-party solutions are needed to fix up shortcomings like this is just another thing that puts me off.  Windows should not be moving backwards in terms of the power user feature set.

Yep, if you don't bother with privacy and all the bugs. Just enjoy your Win 11 OS. New has to be better @Mr. Fox @Ashtrix I will contimue with older and less bugged OS.

Windows 11: a spyware machine out of users' control?

Microsoft's latest OS starts collecting telemetry as soon as the boot process ends

Using Wireshark to check what a freshly-installed copy of Windows 11 was doing on a brand-new laptop, what they saw was eye-opening to say the least: just after the first boot, Windows 11 was quick to try and reach third-party servers with absolutely no prior user permission or intervention.

I wonder how long it will take Microsoft to remove all chances in the OS registry to bypass the watermaks...

More users are facing watermarks in Windows 11

With the new version, more users who bypass the hardware or security requirements of Windows 11 get a watermark as a reminder.

Sometimes change is not good. Sometimes saying "no" is the only correct answer. What I find most puzzling is the notion that anyone would want to deliberately reward Micro$lop's behavior when punishment and rejection and financial losses are what they deserve. Otherwise, you'll get more of the same, or worse.

Complete madness 🥴, the telemetry evolution during the last 10 years, combined with the evolution of blindness \ acceptance from users regarding privacy plundering. And what we see taking place now in win, apple, android may be just a humble beginning !

So happy to be in a position to live well with 10 ltsc (O&O + some firewall), OS complete radio silence at boot, and stays that way until I myself choose to do something.

According to several reports across the Microsoft forum and Feedback Hub, a new Windows 11 update mess is causing drivers to fail with 0x80070103. Microsoft has confirmed it's aware of reports,

One frustrated user posted to the Feedback Hub:  “All channels…Dev…Beta…Release Preview is throwing this error at me. Come on, Microsoft don’t you have quality control checks before you release stuff? Looks like you’ve messed up quite a few systems with this error!.”

windows 11 unsupported hardware now gets a permanent water mark.??

You can get rid of it, Microsoft even has official documentation (see my most recent post above), or Google around and you will see a simple registry tweak.

And for how long? Microsoft want that you buy new HW and new Win 11 license. Next change may come in the registry. Remove all remnants in newer Win 11 builds to stop this tweak from happening. That's cute. Remember all Microsoft think about is to help you all "boost your pc's security" (sarcasm).

This is nothing new. They just can't make it right.

It will never be a "good" OS, just as Windowz 8.X and Windoze 10 were never a "good" OS. Each release has merely been a different gradient of product development failure.

It seems Microsoft go over dead bodies to try help their partners.

And who is the fool's bro @Mr. Fox? The crying babies or Microsoft? None say he or others has to install the latest and bugged. Just go back to Win 10 and enjoy your pc.

Windows 11 Watermark Showing Up On Unsupported Systems

Microsoft implements plan to annoy users into upgrading PCs (or downgrading Windows)

At the moment, it looks like unsupported systems will only have to deal with a mildly-annoying watermark, but this could be the first step toward more drastic measures. Microsoft has warned that it will disable updates on unsupported systems (though this clearly has yet to come to fruition, as you'll only get the watermark if you install the latest update).

So, just go buy a new CPU (says Microsoft). Or uninstall Windows 11 and downgrade to Windows 10
