Papusan
Newer has to offer better features than the old. Always @Mr. Fox😆 Yes, Windows 11 taskbar is movable, but the Start menu does not support it windowslatest.com - March 7, 2023 Windows 11’s biggest and most hated change is its new taskbar. The redesigned taskbar is now based on XAML, which supports WinUI and Fluent and can create UI elements for any app, including UWP and .NET. The redesign has brought a modern touch to the taskbar, and XAML integration could lead to better future performance as Microsoft plans to separate the shell from the rest of the Windows elements. Still, it remains too restricted in terms of features compared to the taskbar of any Windows release, including Windows 10, 8 or 7. 1 "The Killer" ASUS ROG Z790 Apex Encore | 14900KS | 4090 HOF + 20 other graphics cards | 32GB DDR5 | Be Quiet! On win11, I noticed that the command prompt window (CMD) now supports tabs, and - very cool - allows you to split the current tab into 2, 3, 4 (at least - I stopped at 4) segments, each with its own 'session'. You can also mix/match 'command' and 'powershell' windows / sessions. (use 'alt' while clicking the 'plus' icon for new tab): This feature does not appear to be available in windows 10. I've also been playing around with the 'SmartView' / Miracast feature; I can wirelessly project to my TV and watch videos. Works surprisingly well. I can also project from my phone to my laptop - works in w11, fails in w10 (possibly hardware related). EDIT TO ADD: I just noticed, my W11 installation already has Snipping Tool with the video screen capture! It works very well - allows you to capture any random rectangle on the screen, as you 'do things', then you can save it to an MP4 file. That's going to come in quite handy I'm sure! On 2/28/2023 at 3:36 PM, Aaron44126 said: The command prompt features are available on Windows 10 but you have to download the separate "Terminal" app from the Windows Store. (It's provided by Microsoft.) It's a slick app and highly configurable. I easily added a Ubuntu Linux WSL shell option to the menu to go along with the default "cmd" and "PowerShell" options, customizing the color to have a dark purple background (like "real" Ubuntu). Microsoft has bundled it with Windows 11 and made it the default console. ... Another nice discovery - the command prompt now supports OpenSSH - so I can simply ssh to my linux box without having to install Putty. I see that this was also introduced to W10 at some point, so another one of those 'retrofit' features I guess. I also installed the 'terminal' app in my W10 box - thanks for the tip! I haven't used PuTTY in years. For a while it was an optional feature that you had to go manually enable in Settings, but I guess at some point they started turning it on by default. Etern4l
BTW I figured out what was wrong with Win 11 22H2, the installation of which was forced upon me. Now it goes nuts when it sees an eGPU, tries to install some different Nvidia drivers and the OS crashes shortly after logon lol. I tried blocking Windows 11 driver updates, and set the max 365 days deferral of feature updates local policy.
