I test all kinds of laptops against each other! All the pictures I have shown are all different laptops with different performance classes. Unfortunately you can find little well documented test on Youtube on the new RTX4080/90 laptops. Can I also understand, they want to sell the new Lapotps!!! Even at Notebookcheck.com, some results can be poorly understood! In any case, the exact information is not always made or sometimes you have to rely on the information given! Often you also do not know in which scene the values were determined! I always try to find good comparisons, which you can understand yourself. But that is often difficult, because the testers reveal all the details. Only in Youtube videos you can understand well! Greetz:-)
Developer79
Here is a quick test comparing Notebookcheck and Cyberpunk: However, I don't know how Notebookcheck comes up with this average value!!!! They don't give exact test conditions!!!! I think it's a bit dishonest to people not to reveal exact test details!!! I can only run the standard benchmark myself and compare like this. I think an average of 5 FPS slower with an RTX4080 175W is not bad, if the test conditions were the same!!!
Developer79
Here is another test from someone independent on Youtube. You can see all the settings and apply them exactly the same way. Gaming performance is identical for the comparison and the P870TM / RTX3080 / 9900KS performs equally fast to the RTX4080 at 175W / Intel Core i9-13900HX!!!! The comparisons rather show the picture, the RTX4080 performs on the old RTX3080 MXM level! The RTX4090 laptop is slightly faster than a RTX3080 MXM! With DLSS 3.0 comes even more distortion to it and brings only in the supported games extra performance. All old games remain rather the same speed compared to the RTX 3080 MXM!

Developer79
I have a comparison here between Computerbase and my tests on Cyberpunk. The exact settings are documented here. Take a look at the amazing results! The P870TM / RTX3080 / 9900KS performs better in raytracing than without! With raytracing, the P870TM / RTX3080 is almost 20 FPS faster than an RTX4090 and without it is about the same, maybe about 5FPS slower!

Yeah, when I said I call BS on some of those benchmarks I meant that the 4080/4090 is still much better than 3080. IDK what the hell is going on but there is no chance that the 3080 is better than 4080. Again, just my opinion, I don't own 40 series nor have fully studied the benchmarks.. Just purely by the specs its just superior in everyway unless maybe 4K performance because of the 12GB ram limitation but idk... As I said, but basically the Dsanke bios does not have to be on the computer!!! There is no RTX3090 from clevo! It only goes up to the RTX3080 series in MXM format! Then it's over. Also, my tests comparing it to the latest RTX4080 generation show that the P870 with RTX3080 is still faster! Only the RTX4090 series is slightly faster and depends on config of the laptop! Developer79
I did another test with Guardians of the Galaxy. I found well comprehensible settings at Computerbase. Comparing the P870TM / RTX 3080 with the RTX 4080 4090 laptop now shows that the RTX3080 performs on the level of an RTX4080. In both settings with ray tracing and without, the whole thing is as just described. The RTX3080 is about as fast as the RTX4080. The RTX4090 is always a bit faster in the game. Developer79
I don't know why most people are so surprised when comparing the RTX3080MXM with the RTX4080 4090 laptop! It has always been the case that the laptop versions are somewhat weaker than the desktop versions in the same generation. The performance values of the RTX4080 4090 laptop are also electrically reduced compared to the desktop version. Then there is the influence that they are no longer MXM laptops. With an MXM card, the electrical influence is separated to a port with a certain distance to the rest. The electromagnetic influence is then lower.

cmgver
Guys, I will try to share as much experience gained as possible. Finally I managed to connect the 3090 ti to my p870tm-g using a m.2 to pcie converter. I connected the converter to the only m.2 that I had available, it is the one used for optane disks. I am using my screen connected directly to the 3090 ti. I got this adapter but I am planning to change it for the k43sg because is newer and it supports pcie 4 https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803093134104.html?aff_fcid=eb2bd4815b5e447d8e8ae81dbaa86663-1689688648425-04964-_DDbI7T I didn't have to unlock the bios, but I had to disable the ACPI. I would have never found that if it wasn't for @MR007RM thank you man, you are the best 🙂 During that path @Tenoroon (1 million thanks) shared with me this link where you can get the latest Dsanke bios, the one using an external programmer as well as the one where you only need a flash drive and several steps described inside. https://files.catbox.moe/b9081g.zip I even tried to get some help from Eurocom to get the unlocked bios, which they clearly have, but they wanted to charge me around $100 for that. Please buy used gear from Eurocom, they don't deserve to have good customers from this community. Thank you @MR007RM and @Tenoroon for your invaluable help guys!!! You rock!!! Also thank you @ViktorV, @Developer79, @Scruffy, and @runix18 for so many advices to solve so many mysteries 🙂 I have a question that maybe you might help me solving: Do you know how can I make to enable both the 3090 ti using the converter, as well as the 1080 mxm installed in the laptop simultaneously? I know that in desktops you can do it, and our board is so similar that maybe that could work. It would be great to have both cards enabled, so I can plug more displays to work. Right now only the one connected to the 3090 ti is working, but I'd love to have also the one connected to the mini displayport. Thank you guys!!!!!!!! 3
