People do modify the 3060 laptops and solder 12GB of vram to them. 🙂 You could probably get that done. As for mid range graphics cards they do offer a good bang for buck, the 3090 was the opposite of a “Bang for Buck” though 😂 When I bought it in 2021, I spent about $2,500 bucks on the GPU and the waterblock (This was a good deal during this time period of GPU pandemic though with normal retail pricing) High end PC parts are just depreciating assets after all. But you can upgrade less often with top shelf parts, having 24GB of vram seemed so crazy and overkill back in 2021 or even 2022 but now that we are in late 2023 it’s really cool. I’m just in no rush to spend even more money all just to play video games. I had a few lucky opportunities this year to get a 4090, unfortunately during those periods I had zero interest in PC parts. I was too intrigued by my other hobby which is Guns and suppressors. 🙂 -

It’s really not bad at all. It’s definitely fast enough for smooth 4K gaming. Really makes me serious about waiting to upgrade. I have never been able to get stable clocks like this on this card before. 2,250 in game and at 4K? Lol. It’s really strange. Not sure what has changed 🤷♂️ Obviously a 4090 smacks this thing around. But, I’m okay with that. -

I can run it at 6.1P/4.6E. But then again, my water is 15C at least. -

Yeah that picture is awesome. Looks like an area where a Bigfoot/Sasquatch would be standing lol. I hear and read about something interesting, and that was about PCH temps on the Z790 Apex. If you can drop those temps it greatly increases memory stability. I believe one of Sugi’s buddies discovered this. And a few others confirmed. They all started water cooling their PCH 😂 Anyways, maybe that’s a start. -

That is a seriously difficult test to run while overclocked. I messed around with it last week for a bit, and I had to increase CPU voltage by +0.035 just to be able to reliably run it. -

I’ve really cranked the clocks on this 3090 for every frame I can possibly get. I’m kinda of surprised this is even working lol. Let it run cool enough, and this 2,205-2,220Mhz boost in game stays locked in for hours and hours and hours. My CPU is also at 6.1Ghz. Also got my 23Gbps on my GDDR6X. This GPU is really so fantastic for holding up to such abuse for so many hours. Pushing that 50 hour playtime mark in Starfield. I really need to throw on some Liquid Metal and gain another 15-30+MHz out of my GPU. I kind of like the thermal paste due to being able to neglect it though. Since 2021, I’ve had this card pulled apart at least 2 times for maintenance. -

I’ve heard they are capable of running the same temp as the water circulating under load. I’ve heard this so many times, no delta in temps. We’ll see though! I’m excited to see what 15C ram temps will provide. -

It’s an amazing deal for the kit!! And typically he only does small batches of these products, so when they are gone that’s it. I’m so ready to dump mine as well though. I’ve been really enjoying the 2x24 (7200) but during summer time I had to reduce MEM overclocks due to ambient heat. This is another pic of the top of the ram with block mounted. These are pretty much built for the Apex and as good as ram cooling gets. -

it includes everything. I’d order asap but only 2 left. I’ve been waiting on these for 1.5 years. Finding them used is close to impossible. (It’s actually impossible lol) people apparently asked him to make another batch of these for ram, and he finally had enough request(s) and he actually did it. His stuff is amazing though. The ram kit includes the blocks for (2) ram sticks for both sides, and the top manifold that directs water and mounts to the both ram blocks. He has a cheaper kit also which is a full kit too, but includes the less expensive clear polymer manifold instead of the solid copper manifold. And @Mr. Fox you only need (1) and it’s an entire kit, so either the one for $79, or the one for $93. This is the $79 dollar kit. -

I ordered my Super Cool DDR5 waterblock kit (Real memory watercooling)! 😁 My 2x24GB M-die’s will be on chilled water now 😂 Man oh man. I’ll be able to pass just about any memory stability test for however long so easily lol. 🤣 I am seriously excited for some DDR5 running like 15C lol. This is gonna be so stupidly glorious 😭 -

@Mr. Fox Look what’s in-stock!!! only (4) left. That includes both ram blocks, and ram waterblock manifold. These are actually watercooled over the memory IC’s. The only ram watercooling kit that offers it. The ram blocks are hollow them selves and water flows through them. 🙂 http://www.supercoolcomputer.com/en/product/41/water-block-ram-รุ่น-direct-chip-full-copper -

I have thought about sending him a project my self. I have a cracked 3090Ti. And I was considering letting him remove my GPUand the cracked PCB’s GPU, and throw the better clocking fully unlocked 3090Ti GPU on my 3090 Kingpin board. It would have to work right? 🤷♂️ -

I don’t think there is an issue with the game. (Although, I read the same stuff with “The Last Of Us”). I am pretty picky with video games and if something is smooth or not. If a game is skipping or has low 1% FPS or dropping GPU usage, I’ll take a deep dive in to researching my own OS, and any other tricks trying to fix it and make a game smooth and constant. Some games are pure junk though, and it is what it is. You could be walking around in game getting 80FPS and then a skip happens and your GPU usage tanks to 30%. So many games can’t hold down a constant GPU usage spitting out a constant frame rate. Starfield actually runs very very smooth, and doesn’t fall in to that category. I would much prefer a constant lower frame rate due to graphical demand VS. higher fps with skipping, and GPU usage dropping left and right. Even throwing the most powerful CPU/GPU can’t fix a bad game with random dropping GPU usage. My 3090 is a (3yr) old GPU, and While I am all ears for a game update and a new Nvidia GeForce driver. I’m still running around Neon city in Starfield with 79 Avg FPS, and 65 FPS 1% lows 4K@Ultra. This is crazy good for a brand new title on a last gen GPU at 4K. We still have not even seen a Starfield post launch GPU driver yet. I’m 36 hours in with no bugs. It’s just a solid running game. If I’m getting this performance, then anyone can play at 1080P/1440P using FSR2 or DLSS and maintain similar FPS on even slower/older hardware than what I have. I think we want too much, and we’re getting too little. Kinda like if you buy a new car. The dealer is offering too little for your car, and their car is too expensive lol. (Yes, that’s often the case 😂) but my point is, we always want more, and what we get is never enough. Maybe we’re all super greedy lol. I’m trying to be half cup full here I suppose. But, this game runs so dang smooth. I know of a laundry list of other titles that could use actual optimization, and you don’t even hear about it including Bethesda’s own Fall out 4 which still has no idea how to use a 13900KS and a 3090. My 1% lows would be around 15FPSin Fallout 4. Crazy right? The rumor mill is strong with this title Starfield though. I’m not defending this game by any means, but this seems to happen on literally every popular AAA game launch. BF2042/The Last of Us/Starfield. I’m sure I am missing several others. Unless I’m crazy, and I’m hallucinating, or my expectations are just super low. But I swear the game runs pretty darn good lol. 😂 With my line of work, I get on my agents computers remotely to fix their system and get them back on the phones. 99% of the time when I get on their desktop the CPU usage and ram is like 90-100% on their personal PC. They have this Super slow desktop, old hardware, and a OS that is just packed to the brim with stuff running in the background. It makes me wonder if most gamers systems would be in a similar shape. It’s a theory. -

What is your CPU score? I can’t find any comparisons. I got 2,598 in multithreaded for 13900KS. My 3090 got 23,000. -

I’m still a noob at this too. Many new mechanics and things I really don’t understand. I would follow the main quest for a while (The main quest teaches some good fundamentals I thought), then you can kinda veer of course and side track for a bit. I’ve built up about 75K credits or so. I have loot/guns/junk/minerals just scattered all over the place. My ship, my person, my room in the lodge, my companions inventory. I’m quite new to mining, and I’m holding off on venturing in to that one. The missions alone pay well though. I would travel to Neon and do some side quest. It was a blast. I killed some gang, and started producing drugs for some drug dealer lol. Then I killed some random civilian who stole some of my stuff, and my companion Barrett very much disliked that, and took off to another world with all my good loot. 😂 -

Im glad you’re able to get a good playable experience! How do you like the game? You put in any long sessions on it yet? I am seriously enjoying it. I recently travelled to some planet/city in game and stayed there forever and ever doing just side missions. -

Looks like Techspot did a Starfield analysis with (32) different GPU’s. I did my own as well. Not sure how they got those numbers. Makes me think the AMD cards are superior at lower resolutions, and the Nvidia cards were CPU bottlenecked… Something ain’t right. I used one level for my benchmark, whereas there are many parts in the game when the frame rate is gonna be higher than in my video. (32 GPU chart) -

Yes. But it’s a great deal. Here’s the thing. Console games are expensive! Like $50 to $60 a pop most times. Game pass gives you access to so many Xbox games for free with a monthly subscription and other things as well, like playing all of those same Xbox games right on your PC too with the same account. It’s the only monthly subscriptions other than Netflix that is worth the money. You can try it for free I think for a month and see if you like it. Since Microsoft is buying up game developer studios and stuff, more games become available left and right. It’s not like some game subscriptions, where they only give you the crappy games for free and the elite AAA titles are extra. -

I’m considering getting a RTX4080 or a 7900XT Nitro+ The 7900XT Nitro+ competes dead on with my 3090 Kingpin in all synthetic benchmarks. Timespy/Timespy Extreme/ Port Royal etc. But, I think it would be better because far less power usage, and faster Starfield performance lol. The RTX4080 is faster in everything for the most part. Both cost about the same. I feel sick buying a RTX4080 lol. And I’m not buying a 4090. I’m never spending more than $1000 on a GPU ever again. Any thoughts? Is this even worth it? -

They actually made a 3080Ti 20GB model. Very few in existence. Pretty cool GPU with no limits like the standard vram gimped 3080Ti. -

It’s kind of annoying that Nvidia has not released new drivers just for the Starfield game already. Where are my free performance gains at? Does Nvidia not care if the 4080/4090 performance isn’t the fastest? Nvidia needs to get it together. I assumed with all of these people reviewing the game, nvidia wouldn’t want them all to say. “Yep, runs best on AMD” lol. “Nvidia has yet to release any drivers improving performance and optimization since launch of Starfield” They just took our money and ran lol. Nvidia did release a driver on 8/22. But that was before the game was even released. Of course, AMD has a new drivers out, AMD dropped some new drivers today for Starfield too?!. Those AMD guys are just loving their tech. 😭 -

The nvidia control panel has been almost the same since like 2004. 😂 lol. I guess if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I too remember the Catalyst Control Center though at least they had the built in overclocking which was only good for quick out of overclocking on a new OS. My last AMD GPU was a RX480 from launch day. Amazing GPU. I miss really those days. I paid $250 dollars for a 8GB GPU on launch day that could game 1080P/1440P really well. But, that was also when 30-60FPS was accepted lol. So maybe we’re all being duped after all. Anyways, I think any of these GPU’s will get the job done. I wouldn’t mind giving the 7900XTX liquid devil a try.
