  1. I recommend that you do not trust their words. If you want to try it, just treat the money you spend as an experience.
  2. Nope. You'll probably have to check it out yourself.
  3. No, I don't have these laptops.
  4. The problem with the m17x r4 is not with the mxm signals, but with the edp mux software control of the ps8321 microchip. Most likely, the laptop cannot recognize the Turing card and newer ones and does not allow output via edp.
  5. Waiting for detailed instructions on how to modify it) Is that a problem? For a similar Dell m4800 workstation, a USB-C adapter for the native charger connector is perfectly suitable. The only problem is that the laptop itself operates in this mode at a reduced frequency, because it was originally designed for 180 watts. I think the 8570w will have a similar problem, but it charges perfectly well when turned off.
  6. to be more exact - not EM7455 (this is the m2 version), but MC7455 (this is the minipcie version). also there are no special limitation for wwan port in m6800/m4800 and you can use other modems in minipcie format.
  7. The pch chip is located in an inconvenient place - circled on the photo. and simply so additional cooling can not be added there, the middle part of the case interferes. personally, I cut a hole in it with a dremel and with the use of thermal pads removed excess heat to the keyboard
  8. Again, I will give my view (just a long time does not give rest to this laptop, but has not yet bought it) Perhaps there may be problems with EDID display, but electrically all the necessary contacts are present on the 50pin connector
  9. If it is not difficult to show a screenshot from gpu-z with information where it shows that the option above 4g decoding is active
  10. You don't need a dGPU for the hdmi, vga and the first dp port of the dock, but you do for the dp connector on the laptop and the second port on the dock. You can see it on the schematic of the device.
  11. Usually the memory controller tries to use the highest available frequency and if something goes wrong it lowers it. I don't know if HP has put some kind of limitation on the memory frequency, but if not, everything works automatically.
  12. I'm not the OP, but it's easy enough to explain how 2133 memory works - HyperX HX321LS11IB2/8 modules are used which can run at that frequency, and the third generation Intel allows it quite easily
  13. No one knows that. The firmware itself is encrypted and signed - two layers of protection. There was no information in the public domain about bios modification since the Turing generation. So you have a choice to drop tdp via msi afterburner or try different versions of the bios suitable for the chip in your video card
  14. this memory is HX321LS11IB2K2... Well, at least the spd from it
  15. and one more small happiness - finally built a set of memory. although I think I need to order cooling for it - because of the frequency it gets quite warm and I'm worried about its condition.
  16. I would like to report the successful installation of FHD panel N156HCG-GT1 in my m4800 - good contrast and the lowest power consumption ever
  17. then I'll wait for your results and save up my money😅
  18. I've been wanting one too, but tdp is stopping me for now)
  19. x-vsion has the 4080/4090 options up on their website - only $680/910. Those who want to take a chance can try https://www.x-vsion.com/product/x-vsion-mxm-embedded-module-rtx-4080m/
  20. I know about its characteristics. but in my mind for 500$ it's not worth it for systems with mxm b. except for 7510-7520 upgrade and that if you find a video bios with lower tdp.
  21. Even if the slot on the laptop works in x16 mode the 4050-4070 graphics card itself is limited to 8 pcie lines
