  1. For this card, I am using the native heatsink from the m17x r4, but I had to modify it and add a recess for the resistors on the right - they are too tall. And yes, the mxm-a card itself - I originally wanted to use it in the m4800, but unfortunately I couldn't reduce its power consumption.
  2. Yes, the card performs quite stably. Initially, it was purchased for another laptop, but I am currently using it in this one. The BIOS version was downloaded from this forum; you can search for it - there is a separate thread. The video card was purchased here: https://www.x-vsion.com/product-category/mxms/mxmn/ Of course, there are certain risks, but several people have bought from there and everything is fine. No modifications were made except for attaching the heat sink, because the card originally did not have one. My laptop uses LVDS and therefore Optimus. I may get an EDP cable and display later, but I have no plans to do so at the moment.
  3. It depends on how much money you are willing to invest in this project. The absolute maximum at the moment is 4090m. My option is as follows:
  4. Yes, the m2200 works without any problems. The only thing that is highly recommended is that the version be from a Dell laptop (green), because versions from HP sometimes do not have a soldered vbios.
  5. You should try to reflash video BIOS for T2000 from other laptops in search of one that can output the image to the laptop's built-in display. Replacing the coreboot system BIOS will not help you. Or downgrade to m2200/wx4150, which are guaranteed to display images on a UHD screen. Or replace the laptop itself with a version that has an FHD screen and working Nvidia Optimus, but in the case of Linux, this is probably a bad option.
  6. So far, I mainly see spam from you and message counter bumping everywhere you respond. Once again, you don't know what you're talking about. There was no T2000 version for the ZBook G6 17, only T1000 and then RTX3000. There was a version with T2000 for the G7, but it no longer had an MXM card, or the ZBook 15 G6, and you might as well try flashing all the video BIOS options for laptops with T2000 - there aren't that many of them.
  7. I think you don't know much about this laptop. You can't install MXM 3 Type B cards in the Dell M4700|M4800 because there's no space for them. Why write about something you don't know for sure? There may only be an option for the HP Z2 Mini G5.
  8. This option will definitely be better than the standard one. It provides for video chip displacement and better cooling, including video memory.
  9. No, I haven't seen it yet. but if it's a working option, then perhaps the framework 16 will be the best laptop with component upgrades.
  10. you will still have problems with fan control, at the least In my mind, this is the less problematic option
  11. Here is an example of an attempt to install a 6600xt in an m17x r4.
  12. I recommend that you do not trust their words. If you want to try it, just treat the money you spend as an experience.
  13. Nope. You'll probably have to check it out yourself.
  14. No, I don't have these laptops.
  15. The problem with the m17x r4 is not with the mxm signals, but with the edp mux software control of the ps8321 microchip. Most likely, the laptop cannot recognize the Turing card and newer ones and does not allow output via edp.
  16. Waiting for detailed instructions on how to modify it) Is that a problem? For a similar Dell m4800 workstation, a USB-C adapter for the native charger connector is perfectly suitable. The only problem is that the laptop itself operates in this mode at a reduced frequency, because it was originally designed for 180 watts. I think the 8570w will have a similar problem, but it charges perfectly well when turned off.
  17. to be more exact - not EM7455 (this is the m2 version), but MC7455 (this is the minipcie version). also there are no special limitation for wwan port in m6800/m4800 and you can use other modems in minipcie format.
  18. The pch chip is located in an inconvenient place - circled on the photo. and simply so additional cooling can not be added there, the middle part of the case interferes. personally, I cut a hole in it with a dremel and with the use of thermal pads removed excess heat to the keyboard
  19. Again, I will give my view (just a long time does not give rest to this laptop, but has not yet bought it) Perhaps there may be problems with EDID display, but electrically all the necessary contacts are present on the 50pin connector
  20. If it is not difficult to show a screenshot from gpu-z with information where it shows that the option above 4g decoding is active
  21. You don't need a dGPU for the hdmi, vga and the first dp port of the dock, but you do for the dp connector on the laptop and the second port on the dock. You can see it on the schematic of the device.
  22. Usually the memory controller tries to use the highest available frequency and if something goes wrong it lowers it. I don't know if HP has put some kind of limitation on the memory frequency, but if not, everything works automatically.
