sorry sir, I was late. but im interested in a usb coffee mug warmer...what a brillant idea. I always have a coffee next to my laptop and hate when it gets cold, this will solve that problem, funny thing is not long ago i wondered if one existed and thanks to you I now know. I think its a really good idea and I guess you could take it on the go with a usb power pack. really great idea. cheers to this great legendary forum filled with positive ideas. we will build it it won't build itself.

all i did was move my laptop from my living room to my bedroom and my temps are 10-20c higher now and I cant seem to tame them, frustrating. 70c underclocked/undervolted vs 50c before. hp omen fan control doesnt seem to be working on cpu and gpu fans, I reinstalled windows with no luck. hopefully I can sort this out as my framerates have also dropped. on a happy note rdr2 I jumped into that for half an hour seems like a pretty amazing game.

I just subbed to 6 months of geforce now ultimate and ironically with my setup its only useful for 1080p-1440p. 4k looks awful, maybe i need to use a cable(ethernet) not sure why with a new wireless router(nighthawk 42) and wifi 6 I cant get useable image quality it just looks worse than 720p. I think if you do plan on doing 4k geforce now be warned the only option is ethernet and if you have a ton of 1080p laptops like I do it looks fantastic at 1080p

we(us) need to respond more contrary to popular belief. so while this game looks great and lucas arts games are usually alot of fun I can't help but wonder with the current trend in gaming we will get the same things again and again until its dead. the video game industry is literally beating a dead horse, and I wonder how much longer until we get AI created video games, where we create a game with a few keywords using say UE5 or when UE6 comes out, I honestly don't think we are even a year from this becoming a thing. long live humanity I think it's safe to say its over, with the games industry being the first target we will see if the creators decide on an aid or an outright sentient creation. Im not wearing my tinfoil hat today as I checked ut invideo and was blow away, next thought was this is scary and how will this impact future games like indiana jones/tomb raider ect. really exciting times or terrifying depending on the angle

there are alot of good games, around 200. I own just about every AAA title great to good. I think iv'e installed 130 takes up 4tb but its nice being in the mood for the odd game and just booting it up for half an hour. relaxing playing mindless games. speaking of which I might boot up forza horizon or motorsport soon, I love these games just have a gripe. why do games from 2008 look just as good as games from 2023, like sure they look slightly better but 15 years of improvement? more like 1 month of improvement.

just bought a 4tb external ssd installed 130 games and checked out the witcher 2. im getting 27fps maxed at 4k with my 3060, demanding game even today and looks great. had fun with the time I played also checked out rdr2 got to the part when you rescue the guy from the wolves. really well done its like playing a hollywood movie will be bouncing back into that one for sure, wonder how long to beat rdr2

4tb samsung t7 shield ssd. its pretty fast and has plenty of storage. good for my games, so far installing 120 games on it, leaves me 2.5tb left on laptop for everything else. I honestly think its enough 7tb for a few years, not like its hard re downloading and in a few years internet will be faster than the ssd.. quick update on the OLED tv LG B2. its actually really impressive, I had eco turned on and now using hdr and 120hz 444 chroma its impressive. great text clarity fast response time, great colors and perfect blacks. I think it gets up to 700nits of brightness in hdr. also a first the tv tricked my brain into thinking the video of a bird was an actual bird because the lighting/colors/contrast were so accurate it tricked the mind, very very impressive indeed. if you need a OLED monitor the Lg b2 is unbeatable in the 900cad range

lg b2 55in oled tv for my bedroom. its meh.

its a tough call! Geforce Now is far from perfect, you will get artifacts and blurry blotches when using wifi sometimes, depends on the connection. ethernet I have yet to see it falter it looks native. I was going to spend some of the money on a desktop but now its looking like a better buy for geforce now with my laptops and my main rig. I still might buy a desktop just not sure if I should go all out. Anything on the next xx90? @Reciever These gentlemen are more niche, they want the best and although bro has recommended getting a A770 build and the other mentions of just building slowly its beyond me, I might just have to jump in. im thinking one foot at a time is a good idea(slowly). I will likely do more window shopping

geforce now does 120fps. the 4080 is enough for medium 4k/120 and medium isnt like it was in 2000-2010. its all console level. I just got a lump sum of money, and I don't know yet. I need a use, for a desktop im not a video editor and don't think spending 4000 on a desktop for 10 extra frames is worth it.. sigh.

Any news on 5x90? I saw a feed saying 30-40 percent bump at best. last time they mentioned the 4090 they were within the margin of error. I really hope we see a pascal like bump in performance, it would be perfect for 4k gaming and I guess if you edit videos 8k might be doable. -
its not uncommon. I had a 115w 3060 and flashed a 140w bios I got a stock bump and it allowed for equal overlcocks but even at the same overclocks i was getting a higher score only 2-3 percent more, in the end unless you have a golden sample its pointless. you wont get top 10 in 3d mark and in games you wont be say going from 45fps to the magic 60. but it is fun pushing a system. i'd like to add I have been overclocking laptops for 20 years and the one thing is when you overvolt and play with wattage the card will not last as long, iv'e had 3 laptop gpus burn out from overclocking and overvolting. with my omen 16 iv'e been running 140w for about a year or so and now im seeing artifacts with slight overclocks. do not do this unless you plan on using your laptop as a doorstop or upgrading each year.

does anyone know why my screenshots of the forum are being saved to the cloud automatically? weird have like 1000 pictures I dont need, only useful to sleuths lol. I think a 3080 would be enough for 4k @Papusan the 3060 does 4k/30 on low and the 3080 desktop should be able to do that for another 5 years. if it doesn't geforce now with its 4080 and upgrades each year should allow for 4k gaming for a while even if it is 25 bucks a month
-
good job thats impressive, people don't think much of these scores sometimes, but getting number one with your system against thousands of people is impressive and a true feat of computer know how. I had to flash my vbios to 140w from 115w to get the number one omen 11800h omen 16 3060 score and the only people besting my score have faster cpus and ram. 30th overall and im happy, but as @1610ftw got number one im blown away, and OfCourse brothers @Mr. Fox and others are in the top 5. thing is they know more about computers and optimisations than just about anyone on the planet. so yeah congrats on your score .

I brought it up because im peaking at 9500 with my 3060 and 3200 ddr4. all of the scores above 9500 are ddr5 or faster ddr4 so it makes a difference to an extent on older laptops but for desktops after watching that helpful video it seems to be around 0.9 percent difference in general. not that impressive. I think its great having state of the art components but microsoft needs to make their OS more friendly to new hardware and more scalable, or is this a hardware thing>? also perfect temps for overclocking. -41c right now, colder by -11c than antarctica concordia station. this is kinda scary, like if the power went or the pipes froze. we have the genius water heated apts. I think iv'e only ever felt -42c once in my life and it cuts through clothes even layers fast. I would open the door for 5 seconds but it would take hours to reheat the apt. -
well if you compare the max q varients the 2080 super max q is similar to a 3060 so theres that. if your comparing a 2080 desktop to a laptop part often times the desktop is bigger and better, the TDP also plays a role is thermals and performance from pascal gen and up
-
I was going to add the 3060 does raytracing laughs. it's overrated and often times the only time I notice it is the switch saying its on but in game cube maps are so good these days you would be hard pressed to feel like your getting more from your gpu with it enabled and gaming. in a fps or fast paced game it should be left out completely. I think its safe to say 3060>2070=1080 and after 7.5 years it really is the gpu to own. I had a 1060 which is now similar to a 1650 and its obsolete, just goes to show sometimes dropping more for a premium part is actually cheaper in the end, gone are the days of the 2070/3070/4070 being the best bang for the buck

how does your beast 3090 compare to a 4080? average is 24662 for a desktop 4080. I wonder if your 3090 fairs better in games vs benchmarks. your 8ghz ram surely is helping. -
I get pretty good battery life on my oled laptops, 9-10 hours steady use. the brightness is good, usually i set it to 60 percent as the contrast gives the illusion of being brighter than it is, it uses something called pixel shift so burn in won't be an issue, but I guess if you dont care for contrast its look elsewhere. mini leds get significantly brighter and have great contrast and color gamut also so there that, and they don't suffer burn in under any situation so I guess thats good but the cost of having one is astronomical, well it used to be. so I guess its give and take no perfect display

Yeah its a marvel. I wish I bought one 7.5 years ago. Im stuck with this 3060 for a few more years, it's really only good for 1080p and 4k is out of the question with new titles. Im thinking of jumping ship to desktop as a 4090 would last me quite a while even at 4k. I saw a benchmark of the 4090 doing extreme at 8k in forza horizon 5 getting well above 60fps average. if it can do that 4k would be attainable for a few more years then say a laptop 4090. im ok with using geforce now, sure its not perfect but for 150 bucks and a good internet connection you get a desktop 4080 level performance and it finally does 4k with decent results. I just subbed for 6 months for 146 cad and I can use it on all my laptops. as for the 1080 and cyberpunk 50 is actually really good, with my 3060 overclocked i get around 50fps on high mixed with ultra, I don't really notice a very big jump graphically going from high to ultra and that seems to be the case with most new titles. I figure this is because their is technically only one setting these days....console quality. @anassa have you tried starfield? I seem to get 40-50 no matter what settings I use, wonder how a 1080 fairs

hard to believe a 7 and a half year old gpu is still rocking and able to game in modern titles. thats not far off from my 3060. I just ran and got a score of 9300 overall 9200 gpu 10 200 cpu. I wonder how many more years the 1080 will be good for
