its heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere ðĪŠðĨģ 4090 monster sandwich, anyone? here vs. a sponge and a chocolate bar for reference ð will post pics after install in the system later, currently still doing workout ðŠ oh and yeah, 980M vs. 4090: 1080p up to 2080 Ti, afterwards 4K. so this 7.6x isnt even accurate, likely more like 10x+ ahaha -
damn, way to make it look like a POS ð but i get what u mean, from that perspective it really seems like a bad compromise on all fronts. thats fine though, for the usage purposes of my wife this machine ticks all the right boxes and most importantly, will have a long expected life span in terms of upgradeability and performance.

welp, you and basically everyone else in this thread. only issue being that Clevo DTRs are a thing of the past... this is currently the "best compromise" in a landscape full of BGA only garbage ð

nah im not too worried about noise. just need to ensure the wife approval factor goes through haha -
clever strategy by Nvidia, release the 4090 first and make it look awesome, then after initial reviews were out push the driver to pimp up 30 series so that ppl would be more interested in buying up stock. makes u wonder how much performance is intentionally left on the table for previous-gen gpus otherwise ð

haha yep, im aware of those fan cables up front. this was just a quick swap of the fans to the other side of the rad so that i would only need one set of screws to tighten the rad and the fans to the case. this is just temporary anyways until i get the Noctua fans in ð as for BLING, for now no other choice until i get to installing ð and other input u have for the build or the LF II 420, lemme know bud. upgrading from a 980M to a Suprim X 4090? nah, id say that upgrade would be barely noticeable.... ðĪĢ and yes, i went with the MSI haha iirc i read on overclock.net that the Gigabyte liquid card has a true waterblock on it that covers everything. so not just a hybrid thingy like the MSI Liquid sku. however, i dunno if that would include easily disconnectable tubes from the card. speaking of overclock.net, i stayed up late last night and scoured several forums and news sites to get a feel of how the sales launch went for the 4090. seems that there were a LOT of scalpers and bots out there buying up almost all the inventory. this resulted in a LOT of angry would-be buyers who didnt get a shot at getting a card. after reading all that im even more happy i was able to snipe a 4090, at a great price and with a reputable shop, at that! in the meantime, ive been looking around here in Europe for stock and i can still see cards popping up here and there and in stock / actually buy-able. so i think this is some kind of delayed release where shops and distributors just let them trickle out bit by bit so that bots n scalpers have less of an impact in buying up huge amount of cards all at once. lets see how this continues! anyone dare to bet that 4090 stock will SUDDENLY be completely grand and awesome once RDNA comes around? ð btw, card should be here any minute now, w00t w00t ð -
that would have been my next question, if we actually do get any additional thermal headroom even without water circulation ð good to have you as our guinea pig, bro! ð impressive, always good to have such inside contacts around ð do you have any testing data available for stock vs. custom? where are you located? directly in Taiwan / China?

haha nope, havent used them before, but im aware that they tend to get pretty loud. but keeping them at 800 rpm or fan stop should be fine for desktop use / light loads. just want to have the ability to ramp things up when needed ð -

for now i only have the AiO rad fans up front as intakes, nothing else. i held back on purchasing additional fans because i wanted to have the case in front of me first for planning out number and orientation, as well as keeping as much budget as possible for the unknown gpu prices at launch. im glad i did for the latter, lol. ill be ordering 6x Noctua 140mm IPPC3000 fans to switch the rad to push n pull up front as intake, then move the current Arctic P14 ARGB fans to the top as outlets. i plan to add in additional 3x P12 to the bottom as intakes, one P14 in the back as outlet and maybe one more P14 on the back of the GPU to assist the vertical air flow from the bottom across the GPU and put some direct airflow on the RAM sticks to help with OC. basically, i now got all the core system components together, so the focus will shift more towards accessories like fans, internal display, monitor colorimeter for calibration, etc.... -

haha yep mighty impressive cooling line there. although i must admit im impressed how close the STRIX is getting to the liquid cooled card...at higher powers it might even overtake it. -
here some pics of the built system without the GPU but with lots of unicorn vomit lulz: unfortunately no space on top to install the behemoth 420mm radiator of the LF II, so front is the only option. super quiet though, to bubbling or gurgling sounds and made sure the rad is installed as far up as possible to give the pump the lowest relative position vs. the top of the rad. i noticed that the LED strip included in the case (right below the mobo, the edge of the psu shroud) doesnt light up, might have to double check the connection at some point. but not really a priority for now, wanna get ahead with system install first. overall very happy with how it turned out, cabling super clean, everything is nicely visible aside from the unavoidable AiO tubing, but fixed that loosely to the mobo so that i stays in place with a cable tie. also quite happy with the front fans, theyre arctic P14 ARGB that ill later swap out for 6x Noctua IPPC 3000 in push n pull config. the Arctic ARGB fans will then be used as case fans for extra ventilation and eye candy. my plan so far for fans: - front = rad with 6 Noctua fans in push n pull as intake - bottom = 3x Arctic P12 ARGB 120mm as intake - top = 3x Arctic P14 ARGB 140mm (using the fans included in the AiO currently installed in the front) as exhaust coming from bottom and through the GPU - back = 1x Arctic P14 exhaust - optional = one additional Arctic P14 fan on the back of the gpu pointing upwards towards the RAM. this is to better suck up the heat and air coming from the bottom and the GPU, as well as provide some more direct cooling to the RAM sticks for OC purposes. total of 14 fans, should be enough right? ðĪĢ ill also update the OP to reflect the change in GPU model

whenever u get it saved, pls send it my way, will ya? wanna get rid of the measly 520W limit on the MSI ð and yes, totally overbuilt coolers. but u know smth? i prefer to have a beefy but cool and quiet card rather than a screaming lava box. also happy about the PL finally being "enough" for the gpu to properly stretch its legs ð edit: looks like there are already a bunch of 4090 vbios out on TPU, NICE: https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/?architecture=&manufacturer=&model=RTX+4090&interface=&memType=&memSize=&since= -

oookay lots of posts to reply to after watching lord of the rings with my lady ð so here we go... yeah thanks man, i feel vindicated after virtually running around like a madman. also added overnight express shipping, so card will be here tomorrow ð and something was MOSDEF sus today, it seemed like shops were releasing cards in small batches before blocking their sites again. it even took like 30-40 minutes before i saw ANY cards in stock for the first time. rofl, that card makes your case look "regular sized" even though we all know its HUGE ð it depends on what kinda load ure looking at. have a looksie at the TPU cooler comparison and ull see there are definitely significant differences: the strix even comes close to the Suprim Liquid X, with the air cooled Suprim X just a tad behind. u gotta be kidding me... during my crazy 1.5 hour search today i saw the following: - FE and good AIB cards either out of stock or offered at insane prices at scalper shops or private sales - crappy AIB cards in stock at good prices (MSRP or just slightly above) - "meh" cards like the Gamerock or Gigabyte cards at below scalper but definitely way over their actual MSRP prices so it was reaaaally tough to make a proper decision. im just glad i kept my cool sufficiently to compute the TPU reviews and make a decision lulz. only small gripe i have with the Suprim X is its power limit capped at 520W, but no worries there, ill just flash a 600W vbios whenever it becomes available ð thats when the 26 phase VRMs will pay out mwahaha. thats hilarious man, i was initially eyeing that exact card and psu ahaha! in the end decided otherwise, but keep us updated on how they fare (especially when maxxed out). yep thats exactly what i saw today, only the "trashy" cards in stock... ð but at least at or close to the MSRP! thats what im hoping for@kicking themselves! i also saw a LOT of scalper prices, both from private sellers AND shops! but i told myself id rather go empty handed today than give such pricks my money! NOT WITH ME! push that trash to its limits! ðĪĢ absolutely agree. encountered that exact scenario today, been planning my build forever and suddenly all changed. thats what happens when the Nvidiots dont allow any AIB reviews to be published until the card sales launch, ugh... disgusting tactics. -
itll be here tomorrow, i said to myself: at THAT price i might as well ditch out the few extra bucks for overnight express shipping ðĪŠðĪ and yeah i dunnno wtf is going on with stock. it seemed like shops were only opening the floodgates to let out a few cards at a time before blocking everything off again. total chaos and very stressful...

omg....what a fight. truckloads of stock my ass ð i was just barely able to snipe an MSI Suprim X for the same price as the Zotac after having seen the TPU reviews (300⎠above FE for same crappy cooler performance aint gonna cut it for me). the Strix looked good, but good luck getting a reasonable price for it. so Suprim X it is! quietest cooler, second best cooling right after the Strix (and Strix isnt beating it by much!) and strongest VRMs out of all cards thus far with 26 whopping phases ð im happy!

FFS, just took me 1.5 hours of jumping back and forth between 10 online shops, price comparison search engine and TPU reviews to finally snipe a 4090 ð so while looking at the TPU reviews in the end i decided against the Zotac card, 300⎠higher price for same cooler performance as the FE just aint worth it... Strix OC looks like a great card, but good luck getting a reasonable price for it! and there it was, the MSI Suprim X for the same price as the Zotac, at a reputable online shop, sporting the quietest cooler and the overall strongest VRM power delivery: SNIPED! 5 seconds after my order went through it was sold out ð TRUCKLOADS OF STOCK MY A$$! -
oh boy... hope the sale goes well mate ð
