thats also something i very much look forward to, for the 4090 to bring (up to) double the gpu horsepower to the table so we can push the new cpus more and better see whos boss and whos pretending to be one 😄 -
aight folks, its getting serious: AiO arrived today, that only leaves keyboard and case, which are already on their way and will arrive on monday 😁 i better start reading up on that THICCCCCC mainboard manual to get prepared for the build yehaw! 🤠

duuuuuuuuude those raaaaaaaam speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeds! what voltages? temps? -
tbh, one might as well just do a bunch of kapton tape cutouts around the IHS and beneatht the ILM. might not be as "elegant" of a solution as this Noctua paste guard, but better protection including against LM and also easy to remove and redo. this was actually THE first thought that popped into the my when the Zen4 IHS was first leaked a few months ago: oh gawd, thats gonna be a mess to properly clean up after every single repaste....😅

i can actually picture you being the new figure head for intel overclocking brother Fox, for both CPU and GPU. even if just to stick it to the green man! 🙂 -
aaand its here! omg its built like a friggin TANK! the whole package is 6.1 kg / 13.5 pounds, holy guacamole! if weight is proportional to quality then this is the SHIZZ! more good news on the other fronts: keyboard, case and AiO are also shipped and on their way now. means its BUILD TIME next week! w00000000000t!

glad im not the only one thinking that that strix 4090 looks ugly af! also, have u seen the price tag compared with other 4090 models? what is Asus thinking?!?! im going the classical approach for Arc: hope for the best but expecting the worst. i fear this might be a "one hit wonder", so to say, with basically only one low powered sku for laptops when Battlemage comes... congratz on your first sell to China! 😄 and i know EXACTLY what u mean, those idiot lowballers on fleabay are sometimes completely bonkers with their expectations... btw guys, I just got in my X670E Asus motherboard, holy guacamole! 6.1 kg / 13.5 pound package!!!! WTH 😂 but damn is this a sweet looking thing....so many accessories, cables, add in cards, etc, not even sure yet what to do with all of it hahaha. but guys, this thing is built like a TANK! the rest of the components should all be arriving beginning of next week, which means: BUILD TIME! woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo -
thanks man, appreciate your input! i know exactly how u feel, i actually told my wife that i had a bad conscience right before i started ordering parts. this because were talking about SO MUCH FRIGGIN MONEY! especially considering were looking for a new appartment, need tons of stuff for the baby, new furniture of all sorts, etc... she told me i deserved it after having saved up so much with such dedication over 3 years, so i should just go for it and enjoy! yep, id say thats a keeper... 😁 MOTHERBOARD SHIPPED! itll be here on saturday woooooooo

fax! luckily the asus X670E is reportedly build like a friggin tank, so dont have to worry about it falling apart when putting in the 4090 chonker 😅 boy am i glad i went for the Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2, which is a behemoth all by itself. no worries about any size of GPU size in the future 🙂 and youve got my attention with that linked article... in the meantime ive read that Nvidia and board partners initially planned for a 600+W TDP before downswitching to 450W shortly before launch. however, this was too late for board partners to change anything about their coolers, thats why we ended up with such monsters. curious to see: will later AIB cards have smaller coolers that are adjusted to 450W only? in any case, this is good news for us, means supercool cards that can be oced to kingdom come! 3 GHz on air or water would be sweeeeeeeeet! aint this a grand time to build a new system and not have to worry about switching out stuff? 😛 😄 -
yep its a chicken and egg problem: u need customers buying the card to have the motivation to do proper driver support, push the arch and set a baseline for long term nextgen developments. but in order to get customers, ull need to do proper driver support, push the arch....u get the idea 😛

oof... Intel didnt make it easy to make a decision on this one. on one hand, im on Linus' side, i.e. purchase 100% as long as ure comfortable to do troubleshooting in order to support a third competitor in the gpu market. on the other hand, its beta hardware and software at best, price to performance it not really that good (especially compared with AMD cards) and lastly, mid to longterm support is sketchy at best, with Intel basically just trying to minimize damage and have "proof" for their investors that a gpu launch actually took place. however, Battlemage will likely be just 1-2 low power skus, with Celestial unsure if theyll even do that at all for consumer. long story short, its not yet clear if intel is even here to stay or not as a gpu vendor...

AMD's Radeon RX 6600 Emerges In MXM

no significant differences between 3.0 and 3.1. just make sure that the dimensions and SMD layout fit your machine and heatsink. non-standard formats can come in both 3.0 and 3.1 flavours. -
clevo p870km bios question and upgrade to rtx3080 on the way.

that. is. hilarious! i love that selfmade "IHS" on top of the bare die mobile cpu which in turn is socketed on an LGA1151 adapter, genius! i love this kinda stuff 😄 and just goes to show what kind of added value a socketed cpu brings in a laptop -
im assuming this does not go for posts detailing cooperative efforts directly with the unicorn master, i.e. when trying to break the NH55JNNQ machine out of its performance shackles 😉

yeah man, take it easy, let us other folks have a jab at brand spanking new hardware first, then u can smash us down later again 😄 im imagining a 90yr old Fox with a long white beard still benching along 😁 looking around the forum and other places its fascinating to see how many enthusiasts are sitting out this gen. just goes to show that its an advantage to go anti-cyclic with purchasing hardware. now that the market is SO over saturated and everyone and their dog bought new hardware or system during the pandemic, theres more hope for my kind to be actually able and get new hardware at MSRP on launch day 😄 so far its been going pretty nicely, got both a 7950X and an Asus ROG Crossfire X670E Extreme at or below MSRP on launch day. today ill be sniping a pixel 7 pro, currently eyeing the Made by Google live stream and checking google store for when purchases go live 😛 u gotta be kidding, do brother @Prema and I actually share bdays? thats hilarious 😄🤘 -
true, for that one im not sure yet. main thing for me is to have hardware on hand to be able and enjoy my limited gamer days. whenever the X3D chips come out and actually prove their worthiness in third party reviews, i might reconsider and go a step up. that is, however, only if they offer a 7950X3D. if they only go up to 7800X3D or 7900X3D ill stick to my 16 core beast instead 🙂
