also wondering if that speed entry is really something read out "live" or if that is just a spec listing of some kind. what are ur actual clocks under idle, multi and single core load?

yep, so specifically for port royal it tops out at roughly +1600-1625, at 1650 and above it starts artifacting / crashing to desktop. im using a suite of 11 stress tests to finetune for 24/7 stability, port royal is just the first step i take to get a quick idea of performance increase and rough stability range. so basically started with +1600 in port royal and dialed it down step by step to +1550 while going through the suite. btw, just finished up with the core, +200 stable 🙂 but im gonna try for +205 haha. in any case, clocks end up in the range of 3060-3120 depending on load and core temps. not bad! highest power draw on the gpu itself that i saw was 560W, with gpu rails maxing out at a whopping 675W! crazy stuff, but temps were always under control, i think the absolute hottest hotspot temp that i saw was in the low to mid 80s in furmark / kombustor. so no worries on that front! usually its more like in the 70s, with junction temp in the mid 60s to low 70s. yep, can confirm the coil whine on my suprim x, as well. although it doesnt bother me at all, i actually just tested for it after i got the card after i saw so many users on overclock.net whining about that 😄 glad im not as sensitive towards that haha, cant hear it at all while gaming or benching. and yes, the 4090 is such a monster in so many ways! can go up insanely high with power consumtion if u push it, at the same time it can be soooo frugal in terms of wattage per fps if u trim it down via UV or fps limiter. while playing wolfenstein the new order i brought it down to 90W avg for 60 fps locked at 4K everything maxed lulz i absolutely love this card! 🙂 my guess is looks. just "looks nice" to see the front of the fans when looking into the case. unfortunately, that goes against any logic in terms of airflow 😂 keeping an eye on this. might come in handy later down the line 🙂

sounds about right to me for high cpu loads without AVX and pulling all cooling stops available to the user.

dont expect to get 9900KS desktop stock performance in your machine. even with delid, liquid metal, highend thermal paste, higher contact pressure and highend pads + higher pressure on the CPU VRMs i wasnt able to get stock desktop performance out of my SIlicon Lottery binned 9900K. as bro @Recieveralready said, ull need to get creative 😄

might that be the max multicore clocks? max boost as listed by intel is only the single core max.

yep, for now Fibre only brings marginal real life speed bumps, but long term its a total game changer. copper can only do so much.

quick n dirty run at stock. although time spy is not really interesting to me, i optimize gpu performance for 4K. thats also what i set when tuning the vRAM and core atm. vRAM now all set at +1550 Mhz 24/7 stable (=24.1 Gbps), core currently at +200 Mhz (= 3060-3120 Mhz depending on load type and core temp), but havent finished my stability test suite yet, so could potentially end up a bit lower than that.

at least based on the changelog no reason for me to upgrade yet, sticking to 522.25

those recent jumps in CPU performance are definitely insane. were approaching GPU style changes more and more, not just with performance jumps but also the way the hardware works (i.e. different core types, dynamic boosting behaviour, high number of cores, etc.) just dont make the error of equaling such a golden chip with overall 13900K standards 😄 well, i guess it depends what ure looking for. im testing for max. 24/7 stability on auto fan curve. for benching i think id be able to do +1650 on auto curve, at max fans and better case cooling 1700+ could be doable. also, havent repasted / repadded anything yet, full stock. huh, looks like mine aint that bad, currently still tuning the core but im at +200 offset resulting in load clocks of 3060-3120 Mhz depending on load type and core temps. full stock it runs 2850 and 2925 with maxed power / voltage limits (without clock offset). but lets be honest, a total spread of 4% going from worst to best really aint nothing to write home about. i wouldnt even call that "binning", might as well just be (un)luck of the draw. still, its funny to see the most expensive card coming in last here lulz maybe theyll do a separate piece on "trash card" performance 😂 thanks again for the software pointers bro Fox, unfortunately MSI Dragon Ball doesnt play BALL (pun intended) with my 7950X 😄

haha ure turning heads, congratz! are you gonna take him up on his offer? might wanna ask what they have in mind with "something nice" from EVGA. too bad they dont make GPUs anymore 😄 aw man, wish i could join u guys in CPU and RAM OC here, had a loooot to catch up on esp regarding Ryzen 7000 tuning. but im now slowly getting an idea of what settings matter and what approaches would be promising. in any case, currently started off with tuning the 4090, easiest and quickest to do for now 😛 got +1550 Mhz stable for 24/7 on the vRAM (= 24.1 Gbps), now turning my focus on the core. lets see what we get! really happy with the STRIX OC vbios so far, lets me downclock and force way lower limits than before for desktop usage. also not bumping into power limits anymore, which is nice! 🙂 lets see if it stays that way once i start bumping up the core.

yep at first i was thinking of that as well. but its not available in europe, which i assume is the OP's location due to him/her citing prices in €. so would have to add shipping and import taxes from the US, Korea, China or Taiwan (those are the listings ive seen so far on ebay).

aha! that might be the culprit. i have automatic driver install disabled and the driver im running is a custom one, not the standard crap direct from Nvidia. so might make sense for me to remove the driver first, flash vbios, then try again for a display signal. Jay had a very similar issue with the STRIX OC 4090 where it wouldnt be properly initialized due to the driver. thanks for the info, definitely worth checking out! main reason why id like to flash is the increased 600W TDP some other AIB cards are offering. im noticing that in a lot of instances my card bounces off the 520W stock max limit, so the 600 could help out in this regard!

yes checking all display outputs was something i tried. however, would u recommend doing a fresh boot every time i switch to another output? i just did it while it was sitting on the windows login screen. but with every output the display would come out of standby for a few seconds, searching for a signal before finding none and going back to standby. i get that @cant afford this stuff. especially with those neverending price increases. at some point, who do they expect to buy their stuff? maybe thats part of the long game plan to push everyone to cloud services, subsciption for everything! including hardware, ugh...

omg dude, u gave me a heart attack, i misunderstood the topic in stating that Linux is planning to drop x86 support LOL as for ther 486 specifically, no real opinion tbh. even if they drop it ud still be able to run older Linux versions on the hardware, should be good enough. frees up space for newer hardware.

cool i can see that ure leaving a nice wide gap from the gpu power connector for it to not bend much, well done. those news currently floating around about melting power connectors make me a bit uneasy about my new monster desktop 😅

depends how often u repaste. even 3 grams would last u quite a long time tbh.
