  1. wth, what going with this sudden wifi m.2 card incompatibility?
  2. damn that is one of those crazy pc stories with a totally random solution at the end, love it 😄
  3. damn, imagine this happening to you 😅 https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/gpus/buyer-purchases-rtx-4090-no-gpu-no-vram
  4. oh lovely proprietary compatibility nightmare with inbuild fire hazard risk, who wouldnt wanna jump on that in order to have one less cable visible? totally worth it! LOL
  5. yup, following the same game plan here 🙂 thats the reason i went all out on the mobo *lol*
  6. aaah, the back and forth of a new build / upgrade 😄 the 5800X3D would be a nice stopgap, comparable to a 7700X in terms of gaming performance. If youre out for platform longevity, going either with AM5 or waiting for 15th gern makes total sense. Depends on how urgently u need the upgrade / new system. If power efficiency is important to you then AM5 it is, maybe paired with either a 7800X3D or a 7950X3D, especially if you dont plan on doing any wild overclocking. As for Intel 15th gen, probably a bit early to tell, current release is pegged for end of 2024. Zen 5 will likely be a bit earlier than that, maybe late summer/early fall? In any case, both new platforms should arrive sometime this year 🙂
  7. Had to chuckle at this, youre right! We tend to get hyperfocused here on hardware and performance haha. Naturally, it's difficult to judge what priorities a person should focus on in their life, we can only provide support in terms of hardware specs / budget / configs, etc. Unless otherwise specified by that person...
  8. hm two schools of thought on this i guess: 1) i got a maxxed out system, I WANT FLUID 100+ FPS ON ALL GAMES COMPLETELY MAXXXXED 2) i got a maxxed out system, GIMME GAMES THAT USE EVERYTHING I HAVE AND STILL GOT ROOM TO GROW! best example of this is vram usage: some people freak out when their 24GB GPUs are suddenly loaded with 20+ GB, others welcome that those 24GB are actually being USED for something.
  9. based on my most recent experience getting the 4090: - have as many shops open and ready to go as possible. i was at like 15 different shops. dont just go for the "usual" ones like amazon, newegg, best buy, cuz thats where most ppl would run to. especially with brands where warranty goes through the manufacturer, the shop u get the hardware from matters less. - dont give up after just 30-60 min. lean into the grind, it took me several hours until i finally got the model and pricing i was targeting for the 4090 😛 most buyers only try 2-3 shops and give up after half an hour, use that to your advantage. - set your budget and model / sku beforehand and stick to it. dont waver and suffer through buyers remorse afterwards. - have address, payment options, everything ready so check out is a breeze. - even when a shop goes "out of stock", keep refreshing it. they sometimes restock inside a few minutes or hours, since they dont sell off everything at once but trickle it out bit by bit. - ideally, take the day off 😄 good luck! let us know how it went 🙂 wait, isnt the 4070 the only model that will continue being on the market, only with a lower MSRP? at least thats what i thought...
  10. noice, which board is that? the mounting frame looks fancy, altho it doesnt do anything temp wise vs. the Intel counterpart 🙂 afaik the new agesa version doesnt affect any Raphael parts, latest would still be 1.0.0.8. anything after that is just for Phoenix.
  11. @ryan i get the feeling ure rushing things a bit. if a solid setup is just out of your budget range right now then just wait a few weeks until u hit ur budget target. no sense in rush buying subpar components now and insta-regretting it down the line... do it right first time 🙂
  12. yup, word on the grapevine is that nvidia will actualy LOWER THE OFFICIAL MSRP for the 4070, with the 4070 Ti and 4080 running into EOL once their Super counterparts are released. the 4070 will be the only one continued alongside the super model, and that at a cheaper price. so bro @ryan wait until the super cards are released and supply has stabilized a bit, then be on the lookout for updated new pricing and/or used pricing 🙂
  13. hahaha nice coincidence, i just saw that vis like 1-2 days ago, really impressive indeed! and those emotions breaking out of that kid, just adorable! totally earned 🙂 not really a speed-runner or game perfectionist myself, but every once in a while i love watching these stories how gamers specialize on a paritcular game and just push it to the absolute breaking point!
  14. would be nice if they could keep on existing while still staying true to their customer service mantra and making things just a little bit "differently". but the updated PSU warranties are not a good sign....well just have to wait and see i guess. was nice to see that trip down EVGA memory lane though! 🙂
  15. hahaha guess i earned that call-out @"rich person" with my setup 😛 yeah i heard about the crappy performance, but i thought it might have changed by now with updates and such...
  16. anyone tried star wars jedi survivor and/or avatar frontiers of pandora yet? thinking of checking out both 🙂
  17. LOL i expected nothing less from you two 😄 but as usual, always depends what ure aiming for. high cpu & ram frequencies, intel is your guy. platform longevity / performance value / power efficiency, AMD all the way. especially when its about gaming only or productivity first. however, for benching purposes, balls to the wall OC is still in the blue camp, albeit the margins are getting seemingly smaller with each gen passing by. point being, its been a loooong long time since theres been something for everyone from both camps, its awesome!
  18. damn that newegg pricing is an absolute steal! altho id try to opt for a P5800X these days haha. i mean, if i go for a deadend product line, might as well go for the latest n greatest sku to get the most mileage out of it 😉
  19. thats aight, im sure we all have our 4090s set to 24gbps+ anyways 😄 yah already happening, i.e. the 870 evo 4TB went almost double from approx. 170€ low to now 290€,fast closing in on 300...glad im all set for storage for now, wont need an upgrade for another 2-3 yrs id wager...
  20. hum if the connection hasnt changed then why would a driver change make a difference? 1.5TB for 400 bucks is a steal though, when talking about optane! as for the toolbox, should be this one: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19543/intel-memory-and-storage-tool-gui.html
  21. so guys, i think this monster of a "laptop" might peak your interest https://www.tomshardware.com/laptops/liquid-cooled-laptop-features-amd-epyc-64-core-zen-4-cpu-and-rtx-4080-desktop-gpu-vendor-promises-rtx-4080-super-upgrade-down-the-line @Mr. Fox @Papusan 😄
  22. noice would love to play around with an optane drive at some point, just that price per gb is so horrible 😅 how much did u pay for it, if i may ask? check and see if there are any options in the intel optane panel (dont remember intels toolbox name, but its analogous to other ssd toolboxes) that would need changing. also, have u tried different optane driver versions to see if there is any similar behaviour? as for bios settings, only thing i could think of would be pcie connection related (im assuming ure rocking the pcie AIC and not the U.2 version?) from my side theres a first failed attempt at installing the custom AM5 IHS. install went fine but temps are worse than before. issue being that ill need to finetune the z height of my arctic LFII 420 AIO, from what i can measure theres a difference of roughly 1.5-2 mm that ill need to account for vs. the stock AM5 SAM. i ordered two additional am5 mounting kits from arctic so i could play around (and destroy) the included parts to check and see how i would ideally bridge that gap. fingers crossed guys! 🙂
  23. AI cover of all i want for xmas is you by freddie mercury...boy the times we live in 😄 sounds amazing! hahaha
