  1. The price isn't too bad. But it's m16 not m18, still gotta wait =/ Hope the 4090 doesn't take too long to release
  2. From what I've been told, expect to be disappointed in 4050/4060/4070 performance. 60w 4070 will probably be terrible performance. 4080 will be decent and 4090 will be good. nVidia really screwed up the 4000 mobile lineup with castrated bus width, low core count, etc. We should hopefully start seeing some numbers starting end of next week
  3. Feb 8th, but keep an eye out starting Feb 1st because some manufacturers may allow pre-orders.
  4. Nice. Looks like performance is similar. NVIDIA Quadro RTX 3000 Mobile video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-4930MX Processor,Alienware 01W2J2 (3dmark.com)
  5. I agree, I have been using nvcleaninstall now but it can also be a bit confusing to people who have never used it.
  6. No. I ran aetina 1080 perfectly fine in aw18 and awcc is installed. also works in m18xr2.
  7. Could you do a firestrike and timespy run? Curious to see how they perform vs the adlink ones. This confirms my theory, I can put both RTX 3000 in my M18xR2 hehe
  8. Exactly, the latest V3 has a switch to help prevent this issue
  9. If you are going all out (RTX 4090 Mobile + i9 13900HX) then I think you will be happy (assuming manufacturers can tame the heat). Just a few more weeks until we know
  10. It is going to feature dragon range. They will not be out until Q2 2023 though.
  11. It's crazy that a 2 "generation" old gpu (2080>2080S>3080>3080Ti) & 3 generation old cpu & (9900K>10900K>11900K>12950HX) [in laptops of course]: is only 37% away cpu wise despite having half the cores is only 21% away gpu wise despite being a older gen and lower class of card Not to mention these older laptops have much better OC room than newer ones (I can run 5.3Ghz on my 9900K in Area-51m R1: https://valid.x86.fr/9brbj6 but for 24/7 obviously I keep it stock because it already maxes out games at 1080p) That TS score is also of my Area-51m just sitting on my desk. FS score closes the gap even less. I skipped 10th, 11th, 12th gen laptops due to this. 13th gen looks like it'll finally widen the gap (but only at the very high end). the 4090 will be the only good gpu upgrade this gen 4080 will be an okay ish upgrade 4070/60/50 will be a joke (maybe 10-20% at best)
  12. You won't know until you try. As always backup original vBIOS in the event the other vBIOS doesn't work.
  13. Have you seen the chart on the first page? 4090 Mobile 80-150w 4080 Mobile 60-150w 4070/60/50 35-115W The TDP range this gen is absolutely insane. You will have a 4070 that can be 35w and 115w, the performance gap will be insane. Expect extremely varying performance this gen, it isn't even fair to call some of these gpus by the name they are with low tdp
  14. Some of us have seen things others haven't 😉 All I will say is...wait until after Feb 1st. Don't forget 4090 mobile has varying TDP from 80w to 150w. How do you know which TDP that TS result was from? [not to mention it is 4080 mobile NOT 4090 mobile] I specifically mentioned the "150w models". Of course a 80 or 90w 4090 will not beat desktop 3090. of course if nVidia decides to screw themselves and limit performance for launch then that's on them. But 150w (+25w DB) 4090 Mobile should match rtx 3090 if not beat 3090. 😄
  15. If 1-5 fps gain is worth it to you then sure. But going from 180w to 200w on rtx 2080 is barely any faster.
  16. I added some new pics from the reviewer's guide. If the i9 13980HX is really missing then that is a disappointment.
  17. Flashing Alienware RTX 2080 vBIOS from Area-51m R1 will boost TDP to 200w. However, unless you are benchmarking, it will probably not be worth it
  18. Yes it is, as a matter of fact, it will be matching a 3090 (at least the 150w max power variants with 25w dynamic boost) the 4080 is faster than 3090ti, the 4090 mobile is a underclocked 4080 desktop, so it's not crazy to see the 4090 mobile beat desktop 3090
  19. You would be bottlenecked by the x4 bus speed. Not to mention you would need to hack the drivers to allow SLI support (not sure it'll work due to optimus)
  20. My Area-51m R1 seems to be holding up really well. It has a rubberized surface. I know my M4800 & all previous Alienwares (M14x/M17x/M18x etc) all have palm rest becoming sticky but newer laptops (Aw14, 17, 18) seem to be much better and the newest gen (Area-51m) seems to be really good (mine is 4 years old and still feels perfect). We will have to wait and see what the newer m series has. My X series also has rubber surface it seems but it's too soon to judge it.
  21. Makes lots of sense if it was 2x 2280 & 2x 2230 but that will be disappointing. Right now you can do 2x 8TB in 2280 and 2 x 1TB in 2230 so total of 18TB.
  22. I'll believe it when I see it. nVidia has been quite strict on TDPs. Clevo didn't even have a 200w vBIOS for RTX 2080 (you had to flash AW vBIOS). If it's true it will be good news for all since you should be able to flash vBIOS using programmer still on other laptops
