Problem with installing GTX 980M in Alienware M17x R2
ssj92 replied to Komputers-Best's topic in Alienware 17 and M17x
This is a common problem using GTX 980M in M17xR2. Inverted Colors. Only way to get past this is so switch to a 6-bit display panel. the 8-bit panel has some conflict with GM2xx series cards. -
Alienware Area 51m R2 and EGPU
ssj92 replied to Rengsey R. H. Jr.'s topic in Alienware 13 / 15 / 17 / 51m (2015-2020)
I think the eGPU enclosures you are using just suck LOL I have used Alienware Graphics Amplifier with my Area-51m R1, and a 13 R3, they work with all of the following RTX cards fine: RTX 3090Ti EVGA FTW3 RTX 3090 KINGPIN RTX 3080 XC3 RTX 3070 MSI GAMING TRIO X RTX 2080Ti PNY Blower Style In addition, I have also tested: AMD RX 6800 All of them work fine. I also tested two RTX GPUs using Razer Core X in Alienware Area-51m R1 and they work fine. I would try disabling dGPU in device manager and see if that helps -
I think Clevo's MXM format should be fine holding a 4090 style gpu but with lower tdp like 250w. Problem is nVidia doesn't want MXM to continue. No one is supporting MXM anymore. Clevo's biggest selling point for DTR is coming to an end. As someone who had 2x GTX 1080 (190W TDP each) in P870DM3 overclocked, I do not think thermals should be an issue if the laptop is thick and large (like 18") chassis. I think nVidia just doesn't want MXM form factor to live. They didn't even allow 3080Ti Mobile to come to MXM MXM is dead in the sense there is no new Clevo MXM next year. Embedded MXM will continue most likely The Chinese Frankenstein MXM cards are also still available but we'll see for 4000 series

13980HX may be a thing. Intel Core i9-13980HX specifications leak online - NotebookCheck.net News

Modify nv_display.inf not the nvdmi etc

I wanna see 18” lga cpu mxm gpu 4k 120hz hdr1000 mini led even better audio than x170 series (tough to beat) 100Whr battery mux switch with igpu only mode support as well BUT unfortunately the MXM part isn’t coming next year so we’ll see what they come out with
-
That MSI GT77 looks nice for a bga class notebook. however, I’m still interested to see those 18” laptops next year. Wonder if Clevo/MSI will also make them. so far only Razer and Alienware have 18” models coming
-
I have already done this. Installed realtek and the clevo speaker/creative audio configuration driver. Still says no devices connected support atlas. does not support 11th gen

Got the beast! has style note bios even though I got it from zTecPC 😕 Specs: i7 10700K 8GB DDR4 3200Mhz (I have 16GB 2400Mhz laying around, may swap for this) RTX 2070 Super 1080p 144Hz Panel AX201 (Have a AX210 I'll swap for) My sound blaster atlas kees saying no supported devices found. What audio app are we supposed to use to tune audio? My cpu doesn't seem to break over 3.8ghz even though cc is set to performnce. Doesn't this thing supposed to go above 55w cpu? https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/29043534/fs/28809072

Unless nVidia wants to be 2nd fastest notebook gpu they will push for the crown. AMD RX 7900M (or w/e final name becomes) is looking around rx 6950 xt desktop performance. So we will see if they fine tune performance for launch. The 10/20 series GPUs were named well because they actually shared desktop specs on laptop

Yeah it's quite sad. My 2080 in Area-51m gets over 27k fs stock gpu score. 3080 was around 30k stock. 10% increase. 2080 super in area-51m r2 was like 29k. We definitely won't see 10/20 level parity between notebook/desktop again on a side note my X170SM-G is coming tomorrow. Hope I made the right choice getting a cheaper new open box X170SM-G over a used pricier X170KM-G

RTX 30 series wasn't full desktop level graphics cards either. But 40 series will still be faster than 30 series. 30 series was a joke on laptops. 10/20 series was the best gen in terms of having performance closest to their desktop counterparts.

4090 Mobile is based on 103 core so its based off of desktop 4080 at least 😉
-
We know since October there will be a RTX 4090 Mobile. Have patience we will see the performance soon 😉
-
Ah I messaged him yesterday to his email but still no reply.

The MXM to PCIe developer is the one that knows?

Do you have the information on what resistor must be changed to allow eDP output on A4500? If I can find someone local in US I can show them what must be done and see if this allows it to work in laptop

I've gone ahead and updated the A13 unlocked bios file to include all needed files for flashing. As a reminder this bios requires a bootable dos usb. A bootable dos usb can be created for free using rufus (choose freedos) when formatting usb. Then drag all files from the unlocked folder to the root directory of the usb. Boot with legacy option rom enabled, select the usb and once dos boots, type in: flash.bat Before flashing a unlocked bios, you must flash the standard version of that bios from dell's website since a lot of these unlocked bios' only have the bios portion and not the ME. Example: M14xR2 is currently on A03 stock First flash A13 standard from dell support website Then flash A13 unlocked using dos method

*Official Benchmark Thread* - Post it here or it didn't happen :D
ssj92 replied to Mr. Fox's topic in Desktop Hardware
It will be xeon just like how the W-3175X platform was. There’s no more actual XE/X i9 HEDT but more of a spiritual successor. They will be unlocked too. btw @tps3443there are no E-cores for sapphire rapids. They will all be P-cores 😉 -
Stock performance of 3090 desktop for now. 😉 rtx 4090 mobile will be 175w limited and it has 16gb vram based on ad103. Most likely it’ll be a 16gb 4080 with lower clocks we’ll see next year what the exact performance they are able to extra from N21
-
Ah damn, RIP. My SM comes Tuesday. optimus should help but if you turn on iGPU only then it’ll definitely make a difference
-
If it has a 24-core 13900HX and a RTX 4090 Mobile then I’ll get it. I love the 18” form factor. I still have my M18xR1, M18xR2 and AW 18. im not getting the razer blade 18 as I’ve heard nothing but bad news regarding their quality/customer service. It’ll definitely be the alienware x18. If my x14 i got from black friday is any indication then I trust their 18 will be good. Every spec is sounding good from what I’ve heard 😉 just waiting to see if they put a subwoofer back in for audio. Every laptop next year is bga unless clevo releases a lga cpu + bga gpu 15” like they do sometimes.

For me I never consider the “gamer” level mainstream CPUs. it was always HEDT for me (X58, X79, X99, X299, next W790) if I could have a laptop with as much power as a mainstream desktop you can bet i’ll take a laptop. But my desktops are always a bit over the edge so this is why I try to stick with laptops. 2 Titan V’s , 2 2080Ti, 3090Ti, these aren’t cheap when you build a monster desktop compared to a monster laptop 🥲
