I am a physician, I don't have perfect memory. I store movies so my family/friends can watch them. There are only a few movies I've watched more than once, but that doesn't mean I want to get rid them if I've spent my money on them. Again it's one of my hobbies, it doesn't have to jive with what you think I should be doing.

Interesting, this random article explains how color is added in later (hint it's not just a guess): https://medium.com/techtalkers/photos-of-space-are-actually-black-and-white-heres-how-they-re-colored-d43561641ac3

I currently use the lower end nest (whatever it's called) and it works just fine. I like the ability to set schedules as well as run my fan in circulation mode throughout the day to keep from using AC as much as possible. The only thing I don't like about it, is integrating it with Home Assistant is a total bear...

Ray tracing mod released for classic Doom
Custom90gt replied to saturnotaku's topic in General Discussion
Again this is your opinion. Doom is a classic for many people and re-experiencing this can be super fun. People like different things, that's what makes like interesting. -
If you unplug the battery and plug in only the AC adapter does it try to turn on?

I would also reseat the ram since that's the cause of most laptops not booting in my experience as a tech.

Picked up an LG Gram 14 2-in-1 for a reasonable price. Not sure how much I like it, but it does most of what I want to do on a laptop and will be nicer for traveling. Not sure if I want to get rid of my Thinkbook 16P though, that is such a nice laptop.

No the "extreme moderation" did not kill NBR. NBR was shut down by the parent company. The unfortunate fact about politics, religion, and other such polarizing topics is that people can't approach the topic from a middle ground and arguing almost always ensues. If you think we should change the rules, you can post it in the site feedback thread, this is not the place for it either. -
introduction XPS 15 vs XPS 17... also 2006 XPS 15 vs 2021/2022 models
Custom90gt replied to markd89's topic in XPS
Let us know what you think about it. I liked both the 17 and 15 XPS. You can add another NVMe SSD to it and keep the 512GB as a boot drive if you wanted to.- 8 replies

I had to go for the 1.5GB package from Xfinity just to get faster upload speeds, and I use fast lightly. Streaming from my Plex Server before the upgrade was painful.

I'm not sure why you didn't get a notification of the reply, I got two for yours (one for the quote and one for the like).

Right below the post you want to add to the multi quote there is a plus symbol. Click on that for each post you want to quote and then in the lower of the right hand window you'll see a "Quote # post" that will insert the posts. Here is a screen shot (just note that the plus symbol has changed to a check mark in my photo because I've quoted your post):

What Asus utility are you using? That's pretty impressive, I've never been much into the "autoclocking" but that may allow me to mess around with this CPU... Just for fun: -

Custom90gt replied to Mr. Fox's topic in Desktop Hardware
Well fingers crossed. Sadly it'll take me some time to actually get around to messing with it since my daughter takes up most of my free time. I'd love to hit 6600mhz memory with reasonable timings at least. Hah I haven't had an air cooled desktop in quite some time. Hopefully my 360 and 280 rads will keep it cool enough to run decently. -

Well finally had some time to put the 12900k in the system and it's an SP87 😞 Well hopefully the IMC is much better than my 12700k since it wouldn't run my DDR5 at anything above 6400mhz. -

Rolling the dice on a 12900k that I picked up used for a reasonable price. We will see if it's a reasonable overclocker. -
I wish Oklahoma Wolf never left JohnnyGuru but alas I don't really know of any more great power supply reviews for the past 3 or so years. I really like my EVGA Supernova power supplies that I have. They've been reliable. I agree that I wouldn't go with anything less than 1KW at this time based on the direction CPUs/GPUs are taking.

I think trading blows with the 12900KS in games at half the price and way less than 1/2 the power consumption is great. Competition is a good thing even if people, even if that competitive product doesn't have all of the features people want. -

I am not surprised by this at all. Alder Lake is power hungry, even when compared to 11th gen. Without increased cooling it's not going to run a whole lot better (although I figured there would be some difference, lol). -
