  1. I apologize that this is a bit off-topic, but for those who have sold on Feebay, if someone says what you sold them is "incorrect" or "broken," does Ebay revoke the money that was paid to you by the buyer, or do they just give the money back and lose however much was the item costed? I ask this because I'm going to list my 980m on Ebay soon, but I'm super paranoid about someone claiming that "its broken" or "it doesn't work." I personally know it works, and I just want to sell it, get the money, and be done with it.
  2. In this thread I briefly went over all of the Clevo models, this should be able to help you understand a bit more.
  3. I see you're finally on the ADL train 😉 Good to see! I thought you weren't the biggest fan of MSI, but this board seems to be really good for the price and generally really good for memory OC, hopefully you won't have too many problems with it as I know Asus boards have given you hell.
  4. As much as we all hate the E-Cores, I really want to see a Xeon with like 80 E-Cores, The die would be about as big as a Xeon with 20 P-Cores, and the multi-threaded performance could be quite impressive.
  5. I feel you, I still need to get rid of my 980m, and to get a decent amount of money from it, I'd have to sell it for around 200 which I really don't want to do. I was hoping it would be sold on NBR but its too late now lol.
  6. Yeah, the longer the heatpipe is the harder it seems to be able to get 100% accurate measurements hahaha. If the length is a bit off, it should be fine, I'll find a way to fit it 🙂 I thought of doing it the way you have shown, but I plan on adding more heatpipes (which I may or many not need some help with, but that's for later down the road,) on top of the current heatpipes on the core, and if I do that, the VRM pipe would have to be bent upwards quite a bit in a very short distance, which may not be the best for the pipe. It may also stop me from using the bottom panel of the laptop if the pipes are stacked and too tall. I got my first one printed, I'm expecting it not to fit my laptop, but I will use it as reference when I make changes to the model in Solidworks. I'll test fit it once I get home in a few hours. EDIT: It seems I either really messes up my measurements or I did something wrong in Solidworks, the model pipe is WAY to big. I always kind of forget how much smaller the insides of my laptops look because they look gigantic in the pictures lol. I'll make another model tomorrow.
  7. Oh I don't need anything for my Alienware, I'm trying to cool the MOSFET's on my 1070 in my P870DM, and I need a super long heatpipe to get the pipe from the FET's to the heatsink. Below is a rough image of what it would look like: I'll try to avoid talking in this thread as I know its mostly about heatsinks for Alienware products, and I don't want to confuse any of you.
  8. @kenny27I apologize for being about a week late! Getting the measurements and actually creating the model in Solidworks has been quite hard, and I don't have too much time everyday to work on it. I should be printing and test fitting my first model pipe today or tomorrow. It probably won't entirely fit, but now that I have a reference model, adjusting it should be easier and take less time. Just for reference, this pipe is going to be quite long, without any bends it is about 440mm long, but I would expect that to change just a little bit as my measurements might not have been the most accurate. My main question is are you able to order and bend a pipe that long?
  9. Reciever is correct, if you cannot find an MSI vBIOS, I can dump mine if needed.
  10. Pretty good album of an obscure "genre" of music. Luxury Elite's World Class will never be outdone though, its the only album I have been able to consistently listen to for about 3 years now, it never gets old. (and nothing can even rival S.W.A.K, its perfect)
  11. To me, the word Notebook reminds me of the old forums more so than it does a mobile device. I mean, who the hell calls a laptop a "notebook" anymore lol. I'd personally like to keep Notebook in the name because of the legacy it carries for most of us, and so people who eventually see this website can put two and two together about the old website closing down.
  12. I might be a bit wrong, but this is what I have drilled into my head: P8xx/P7xx series that have the MXM GPUs and desktop CPUs. (P8xx series having 2 MXM slots.) I think the P9xx and P6xx were thicker laptops that had high end BGA GPUs and CPUs The N series were mostly just thinner P9xx and P6xx laptops that had more mid-range BGA CPUs and GPUs (I might be wrong on this one) The W series are a weaker N series, with more consumer oriented components, some of them have weak GPUs while others just use the iGPU (I might also be wrong on this one.) Older P1xx and P3xx that had MXM but the QM/MQ CPUs. (P3xx series having 2 MXM slots.) There's the P5xx which had SLI with the HEDT CPUs Newer X170 series with single MXM GPU and newer desktop CPUs. Eurocom had the Tornado F5/F7 series, being built off of the MSI GT62 and GT72 respectively. I know that Clevo had the X7200 and X8100 but there may be more in this category of "Pre-P series." X7200 had MXM with a desktop CPU and X8100 had MXM with QM CPUs. The D series that was around before the X7200 and X8100. Some had Nehalem chips while older ones had Core 2 chips. Again, I might be a bit wrong, but this is what I have understood after studying Clevo for a while lol. There's also other series, but they are quite obscure. Having categories for those would be good enough in my opinion. If its too much, you could combine the P1xx P3xx with the P5xx series and combine the older X series with the D series
  13. I see, a fellow Synthwave enjoyer! Don't want to shove anything down your throat, but I'd bet you like this one:
  14. If you have a computer to to use the quest with, I highly recommend playing Boneworks. You've probably heard of it before, but it is a really, really fun game. I would say it is one of the best games I've ever played. The physics are great, the puzzles are challenging, but not too hard, and there's no rush for anything, you can work at your own pace or just play around with the physics if you want.
  15. I'm just confused as to why Dell decided to put a 1 pipe heatsink on a DTR. There's enough space to have a 2 or 3 pipe heatsink, one of the many confusing aspects of Dell...

    Hobbies

Playing musical instruments is fun, especially when you can play whatever you'd like. Right now I'm mostly playing the French Horn, but I play Trumpet during the Football season when I march and occasionally play the Baritone Saxophone for fun. I've tried many times to play the Bassoon as I really like the sound and tone of it, but the fingerings are too complicated for me, the Saxophone is kind of my limit for how many fingerings/positions I can remember.
  17. Not currently, but if are willing to help me out, I can have them in about a week. I've been working with a buddy to make models to 3D print and ensure they are the right sizes, we're still working on refining the models right now.
  18. I see. I'm looking for some specific heatpipes for a heatsink mod for my Clevo P870DM, if you are able to source some "custom" ones, I'd be willing to pay a bit for some. Everywhere I have looked its either too expensive, or not the bends I need for them to fit right.
  19. I would go with a hair dryer, Maytee used one in his old thread and said it worked fine, just be sure to keep moving it around a bit as to not overheat other things on the motherboard.
  20. Do you have access to heatpipes and have the ability to bend them at specific angles?
  21. Hmmm, I'd rather not spend 166 on a bracket, I may just cut my own. Glad you got yours though!
  22. Nice, I'm glad you got it! If you have a screw bit set, just eyeball it. I've taken an LGA 1151 mounting bracket off with a very basic bit set. Also, would you mind telling me how much they charged you for the plate? I forgot to ask them.
  23. Did Upgradeyourlaptop ever get back to you if you don't mind me asking?
  24. I talked to upgradeyourlaptop (which I think is Eurocom on Ebay, not sure though) and they said they did have some of the TM backplates. They didn't give me a price as I cannot buy one right now, but they told me they have some in stock. Message them saying someone else who has talked to them about the backplates recently sent you so they aren't confused.
