I think this story was bogus to begin with anyways. They charge for windows 365, for enterprise, NOT Consumer. Consumers have windows 11/12 etc and MS365 for office/onedrive etc. Sounds like a hater / fanboy of other platforms come up with this one.

Got the wifey into the Pixel! Ordering 2 8s, with watch 2 asap.

I never liked the hack job desktop features of phones. Either dex, continuum etc. I would just rather use my notebook or workstation. Phone features are more important than half baked desktop functions to me. -
I was showing Kojackwife the new pixel and all the great features it has for her and her work with the meeting transcription and summarizing built into the phone. That will make her work life MUCH better instead of having to write out the transcripts, the pixel will give her the rough draft automatically with summaries, then she can go in and just make changes as needed. I am getting the pro for the extra photo awesomeness. Can't wait to be not tied to the applesphere for a change. She's excited for some customizing freedoms as well.

In that case, the device maker's website will have everything you need.

It’s been a long time coming…
kojack replied to DaMafiaGamer's topic in New here? Introduce Yourself
Welcome back, I have given up OC'ing. Just not into it anymore. Love reading about it all, but just want to sit at my pc's and work these days. Well that and shoot the poop here too! -
So, Who followed the big "release" from Microsoft? Full AI windows integration. NOT FEELING THAT, AT ALL! Thoughts?
-
It's not yet. it will be in the new version of windows being released before the end of the year.
-
I was just reading that Bleepingcomputer writeup. Can the AI assistant be switched off?

You using the T400 series Kingston? I highly recommend them. I have around a dozen of them between 240 and 960gb. I have 2 in my workstation, one in my wife's notebook and one in my sons 2 notebooks. Plus a few extra. Cheap as chips and plenty speedy for a sata.

It does not happen to me on my desktop with my 2070 super. Might be a YOU thing and not a them thing.

In other windows news, Apple is releasing Windows vista soon.....This is MacOS sonoma with widgets activated. Very vista'ish!

Awesome. I have a master chef from Canadian Tire in my main shop. It's half sized, only needs to keep a few bottles of water and a couple dozen cans of beer cold for when I am working ha ha!

I am looking at getting an eGPU case with another 2070 super installed to take to hotel rooms with us when we are working on location. That way I can skip through video encoding faster. Just wondering now if I can use the egpu through a usb c dock with other items like drives etc attached and working at the same time.

Yep, I can remember when 1500 bucks got you one of the top spec systems available. Now that don't even pay for the video card. It's bonkers. -

Ahhh Kids. Mine are 25 and 17. One is on his own working at a job he loves, the other is finishing high school this year, and will be with us forever. He has autism and I am getting everything set up now for when he's finished school, he will start working with me. I will be ditching the day job at Bell then and working from home full time with him. The wife will be as well, she's dropping her job at the hospital here and moving to a home based remote line of work. We paid for every cent of our oldest going through university so he would not be saddled with debt once out. Now, when we go visit, he buys us supper once a trip ha ha! -
2700X to 5800X3D upgrade! With a 10850K Cameo!
kojack replied to Reciever's topic in Desktop Hardware
The more you know....ha ha. I always thought it was just the 10700 and 10900 in various forms. hmmmm. -
If you have to measure it in milliseconds it's not a huge deal that is made out to be. As I said previously You do not notice any of this "lag" using your computer as a computer....Only running a benchmark, etc.

Reminds me of my last radeon. XT9600 AIW. Loved that card when I had it. -
My systems do heaving lifting in photo/video/graphics work and they are fast. My notebook is a little slower doing the same work as it only has Xe graphics, but It does it...it's not the OS slowing down my systems at all, they are extremely "snappy" as claimed here. I hit software and it opens instantly. No waiting around like on the Mseries macs that I have been looking at. Open safari or chrome on the M2 macbook and there is like a 2 second delay before the software opens. My notebook, you hit edge and it's open instantly ready to rock. As I said, I do NOT see any lag etc using both of my systems.

Is the 10850k a desktop processor? -
warranty shmarranty! ha ha!
-
Mine was not built on the K platform, but on a B18 motor. but the results were similar. Best part, ZERO turbo lag etc. Just raw power from tip in to redline BEAST!
-
That was my point, you may see something using a synthetic benchmark, but actually using your computer doing computer stuff, You don't see a difference or slow down.

Looking at this mini PC for my wife for her office.
kojack replied to kojack's topic in Desktop Hardware
I was on Dells website and found the inspiron 3020 small desktop. It is perfect for her. It has an i5 13th gen, Xe graphics (fine for her), and I can add 64gb of ram, a 2tb ssd and a big HDD inside the machine. Tack on the low profile noctua cooler, an 80mm in front and 2 40mm in back (all there is space for) and her system will be fast, quiet and not take up a bunch of room. She is not doing any huge graphic intensive work other than cricut designer so no need for a video card in her system. And at 599.00 cdn for the base system it's cost effect that she can get a new laptop too. See what we can get for a decent price there at the same time.
