    Man, that is really terrible news. Very sorry to hear that Brother John. And, since they "don't sell o-ring kits for Hydro Copper" they probably can't even attempt to service yours. They should, at the very least, offer to give you a full refund for the Hydro Copper. For me this is just additional confirmation that spending the extra money on a KPE GPU isn't really worth it because of all of the severe limitations you have to tolerate in association with ownership. Owning the best GPU money can buy is totally worthless if you can't service it due to lack of parts availability from the manufacturer and nothing available from a third party. Availability of the OptimusPC block is a joke (as much as I want one). If you order one now you might be lucky enough to have arrive within 180 days. You should do what I did before the Hydro Copper block became available. Not as good as a legit block, but still way better than the hybrid abortion. Cut the black plastic retainers at the hybrid's radiator ends of the tubing, slide the tubing off the radiator barbs and install QDC fittings on barbs to run it through your loop, and put an MP5WORKS block on the backplate.

    Seems like the RAM and IMC are also good quality. These read/write/copy speeds remind my of my monster 7980XE benching days. The heat from the PCH on this thing is ungodly. I took out two of the five NVMe SSDs because the PCH exceeds 90°C with all five M.2 slots filled. With three it is still hovering in the 70's. I am going to have to do some kind of a cooling mod to fix that. I want to be able to use all five NVMe SSDs.

    Yes, if you are in direct sunlight it looks very dim, and you need max brightness to be barely usable. It does not really affect me, but I have noticed in the rare times I have needed to view my phone screen while standing in direct sunlight. For the most part it is not a relevant issue for my use pattern.

    Yes, we need this thread. Thank you, Brother @Papusan for starting it. LTSC 2019, and to a much lesser extent, LTSC 2021 are the only acceptable versions of Windows 10. LTSB 2015/2016/2017 were even better, but too many things no longer work with those versions because the Redmond Reprobates are manipulative gangsters that arbitrarily decide "compatibility" (fake incompatibility) based on what best serves their nefarious purposes. (Truth be told, I don't think any of them are actually "good" but definitely not nearly as bad as the mainstream alternatives that followed them.) Defender Control is very useful. Better yet... I like to break out the big guns and nuke the crap entirely. I use this instead. It leaves Firewall, but takes out the rest of the bloated garbage and frees up system resources in a big way. Combine it with Chris Titus Debloat script and it will cut your Windows 10 down to Windows 7 levels of OS overhead. Remove Defender v4.0.zip There is no turning back once you do it. I never want to go back, but scaredy cats might want to make a Macrium Reflect images if they prefer "free" trash antivirus software over a crisp, clean and nice-running computer.

    Honestly, other than the more logical hierarchy of things in the Windows Control Panel, I cannot really identify anything else that I like or think is good about Windows 11. For the most part I think it is an abomination, both functionally and aesthetically.

    Yes, it is based on Chrome and that is one of the reasons it is decent. I liked Brave but found using it too inconvenient in terms of sync function and having to unblock too many things. It is more secure, but I value the convenience more than I worry about security. Both are important, but if I am going to use something that is more secure it needs to be equally convenient as what I am giving up.

    It is working. I am not sure what was wrong. I disabled it in the BIOS, shut down and disconnected it. Booted and re-enabled it in the BIOS, rebooted. Then shut down again and plugged it in. Now it is working. Maybe it just needed to be reset or something. It is really too bad this doesn't have round cable that is very flexible like a USB cable rather than the flat ribbon cable. It's a nice gadget. I like it. If you know someone well that works there, maybe they would be willing to test one or two on an in-house build using an ASUS mobo if you slipped them a little something extra for the added effort. In the name of customer service, of course. 😉

    Awesome that's good to know. It'll be fun tuning it. I just literally took a wild guess and hit save and exit on the BIOS. It'll be interesting to see how low the voltage can go and how high the clocks can go at the same time. So if you already have an EK Quantum Velocity block I and more than happy to send you this back plate. The one I ordered from EK that includes the bolts and nuts was only a penny and with the shipping it was about what I paid for this for the backplate only with no other hardware from Amazon, LOL. The threads in it are larger than the studs on my OptimusPC hardware kit, but I'm guessing you should be able to use the studs with the EK block you already have and the only thing different is the wider spacing. That is just an assumption on my part. The threads for the studs in the backplate are the same size as the x299 mounting hardware from OptimusPC, but the studs are not long enough to reach through to the back plate. Otherwise I could have used the x299 hardware.

    The OptimusPC blocks don't require a kit. They are pre-compatible. They use individual bolts with large nuts on the underside of the mobo, with no backplate. That said, I like using a backplate, and also have used one on all of my systems. So, I ordered an EKWB Quantum Velocity backplate on Amazon. The bolt threads are the wrong size on the Optimus kit. So, I can't use it with the bolts from OptimusPC. If you want it you can have it, just pay the shipping USPS Priority. I ordered the kit from EKWB today so it would have the correct size bolts, but I don't actually need it to use my system with the hardware provided by OptimusPC. I just like the extra integrity of having the backplate to relieve pressure on the motherboard around the bolt holes.

    😄- I figured any more detail than that would be TMI... Do you mean the PCIe auxilliary connection? If so, I wondered the same. I hope it can handle the demands of the 3090 KINGPIN on the PCIe slots. Yes, I will upload a photo later tonight after dinner and TV with Mrs. Fox Yes, but I haven't figured out how to turn it on yet. It is plugged in, but doesn't seem to do anything. I will have to look at the manual. Probably user error on my part I haven't really done any tuning yet and I will definitely need to use the chiller and maybe some liquid metal if not a delid. I basically arbitrarily decided to set multis for P and E cores, didn't touch cache yet, and chose 1.300V to start for the CPU and then applied the XMP profile with 1.350V on the RAM. I don't even know if this is good, because I haven't really been studying 12900K benchmark that close yet.

    I got the CPU and RAM a couple of hours ago. I like it, but there is a lot to learn. MSI BIOS and 12th Gen are both new to me. This seems like a really good CPU sample. Voltage needs seem low. Glad to hear you are feeling better. I am much better than I was, but still having some issues that require frequent dashes to the bathroom.

    Amen to that! More firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens makes for a safer country, and one that is less likely to become a dictatorship. It is really true that if guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns. And, let's be honest. Sometimes "insurrection" is just the right thing to do. This nation was founded on it, and the possibility of it happening is useful to the extent that it keeps government in its proper place. The thing that was called an insurrection in January of last year was not. Well, the Unify-X is all set up and waiting for the CPU and RAM to arrive.

    The new StartIsBack for Windows 11 fixes everything wrong with the taskbar and start menu, and nothing is broken or malfunctioning as it is with the native hack. It fixes a lot of stuff that is jacked up with Windows 11's tacky UI, including the stupid looking and inefficient new right-click context menu. It made my Windows 11 look exactly as it does using StarIsBack on Windows 10. I refuse to use Windows 10 without StartIsBack. It is an essential as far as I am concerned. I install it as soon as I reach the desktop on a clean install, even before product activation or drivers. It made using Windows 11 a whole lot less disgusting, but it still had too many things about it that remained unacceptable to me, so I reclaimed the drive space it was wasting.

    As many of you already know from past posts and comments on the old forum, I am working on the idea of becoming a Linux-only PC user because I hate what Windows has become. I prefer a Windows 7-like DE because it's familiar and just makes the most sense to my brain. This thread has a simple purpose (as the title implies). Just did a clean install of ZorinOS 16 on my work desktop and switched it to Cinnamon DE. This system has three 1080p 144Hz displays. The toughest part of that is finding a wallpaper I like that looks good to me when spanning all three screens. (That is challenging no matter the OS.) For best results, insert the image from a hosting site using the "other media" button and paste a direct link to that image. If you upload the image to the forum it will be downsized and won't show full resolution. When viewing an image inserted using a direct link you will need to click on it three times to view it full resolution.

    Amen to that. It's really true. IE was the last real no-nonsense piece of software for view web pages. I'd still be using it if so many web pages didn't mitch and boan about it. That whole era of computing was better because things were simple. Then somebody thought it would be special to try to make web browsers a digital Swiss Army knife. Now we have Chrome OS. Computing in general is starting to suck and the suckiness of web browsers, and software as a whole, is a symptom of it.

    Hey Brother John good to see you. Now I am playing catch up on the thread. I've been sick all day and spent most of the day sleeping, and when I wasn't asleep I've been stuck in the bathroom. Not a fun day. So yeah the motherboard is here. The CPU and memory should be delivered on Monday, as FedEx does not deliver to home addresses on weekends unless the shipper pays extra for it. If I feel better by Sunday afternoon I'll go ahead and get everything else set up on the Wetbench while waiting.

    Once we can identify what is right with them we can worry less about what is wrong with them. Right now all I am seeing is trash. The world is being run by stupid losers, so it is probably unfair of us to expect anything intelligent or great to be coming from AMD. But hey, there is a first time for everything.
