AI is going to ruin everything for the world. The whole thing is driven by educated idiots. They tend to ruin anything and everything they touch. That's just who they are and how they operate. More nefarious nonsense and self-serving manipulation from the Green Goblin. And, while they are making it hard to buy their desirable GPUs their next driver will be the last one for 10-series. So, they are deliberately overpricing their new crap and ending driver support for those that were not willing to pay absurd prices for an upgrade. Bastards. -

Absurdity is an appropriate description of things as they are now. Prices are absurd. Marketing is absurd, and product designs are absurd. When your target market has too many idiots it ruins things for everyone. This garbage exists because there is a market for garbage. -

An "XOC" product that ships with "POC" (piece of crap) firmware and functions like a run-of-the-mill gamerboy product. Same old same old... expensive toys for the kiddos that don't know they're getting screwed. https://www.overclock.net/posts/29485117/ -

So, basically a 5090 Ti that they can charge more for because it is a "Pro 6000" LOL. -
From Video Descrption: Don't install KB5060829 if you value your time. I lost taskbar and could not get it back. So I uninstalled update and ended up with grey screen of death. Spent whole day fixing the boot loop nightmare. Thanks Microsoft for forcing another bug ridden windows update.

Well, I am on my second day of using Linux all day for work, and running Windoze in a virtual machine if I have to do something that only works on Windoze. That has been a factor holding me back from ditching Windoze. Now it is no longer a factor. I can enjoy using Linux as my primary OS for both pleasure and work now. The stuff I have to do that I can only do in Windoze works flawlessly in a virtual machine. PowerBI, Excel, Word, Powerpoint don't have a clue I am running them in a virtual machine. The experience is nearly seamless. Edit: This is the Dune Awakening Benchmark run in Linux using Proton... Pretty decent at 4K. -

I think it is a matter of perspective. At some level nearly every decision made boils down to choosing the most favorable option. Sometimes all of the options suck and you are choosing "between pest and cholera" as you put it. Sometimes the option you wish you could choose and would prefer to select and would select if it didn't have a major caveat that overshadows the fact that it is a superior product (like being grossly overpriced NVIDIA GPUs that offer poor value). I think it is a little bit absurd to think anyone would buy AMD with the intent to suppress NVIDIA pricing. However, I do think there are a few people dumb enough to believe that might work. It's a take it or leave it proposition with NVIDIA. They don't care if the price is reasonable and probably have some degree of pride in knowing their products will sell in spite of being a poor overall value. I suspect that if we do not count fanboys in the mix, (which are people that buy exclusively based on brand,) most are looking for something that punches above its weight (price). Nothing beats a 5090 if you are willing to pay the absurd price and ignore any aspect of cost-to-performance ratio or value. Some people (including me) really want one and wish they had one, but are not willing to pay the price because the value just isn't there. That's why I own a 9070 XT. It isn't the best, but it is certainly worth what I paid for it. I didn't feel like I was getting screwed. NVIDIA doesn't care because other people are willing to overpay to have whatever they desire. Quench the desire is more important than value to them. They are willing to be screwed just to have it. As long as there are enough of them, NVIDIA products will remain overpriced and a poor value. They will probably always be superior in terms of performance and features, unless something happens to upset their money cart and they no longer have the financial resources to stay on top. -

Nope. I strongly dislike anime and manga (animanga) or any other type of fantasy, action hero or cartoon crap. I cannot relate to the cultural relevance of any of it and find it less than pleasing aesthetically. It would totally ruin my experience as a PC owner. Super tacky-looking rubbish IMHO. I would also not want Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, My Little Pony, Care Bears, Sponge Bob, Little Mermaid, Donald Duck or any stupid junk like that associated with my computer ownership experience. Super stupid, LOL. -

Is the PSU also Copilot+ certified and an "AI-ready" product? Wait and see is always the best approach. 24C/48T should be nice. The weakness for all of our consumer Intel and AMD processors is not enough PCIe lanes. -

@Meaker hit the nail on the head. The connector, not the PSU, is what needs to be carefully monitored. It is more likely to fail than the PSU. Only fanboys pay more for ROG-branded PSUs and peripherals. The branding does nothing beneficial for anyone except for ASUS. They benefit by scalping their fanboys. Edit: 5050 = 50/50 aka "half-a$$ed" -

But now you know the whole story and have a better idea what is happening with power consumption. Even when it doesn't matter and you don't object to what you find out, you're better off knowing than having no idea. And, now you can explain to your wife why the sudden spike in the monthly power bill. You can also use those meters on other appliances around the house to see how much juice they are leeching. -
It is pretty sinister and the control freak way things are being handled now is totally unacceptable. I suspect Chrome will support Windows 10 for as long as Micro$lop provides Windows 10 LTSC support. But, still... it's the nefarious intent and inappropriate collusion going on that is so despicable. I am further preparing myself for a departure from Windoze. I now have Linux as the primary OS on both desktops with Windows for work available in a virtual machine. There are applications I must use daily for work that do not run on Linux. (Yes they are Micro$loft applications, LOL.) I can launch the virtual machine when I need to use them.

That survey is only accurate to the extent it counts only those that respond to the survey when installing Steam for the first time and when it randomly appears. It does not reflect an accurate percentage of all Steam users because Steam is respectful and does not harvest that information without user permission. I always decline to participate when I am prompted. In other words, it is an accurate reflection of survey respondents, not all Steam users. In addition to the available PSU headroom, when @tps3443 is finished with the torturing of his GPU for entertainment purposes the normal use scenario will not be anywhere near what Furmark is doing to it. -

Even if the calculations are spot-on based on 2 x GPU driver reported power draw, it is useful to know how much total power your machine is pulling from the wall. It is usually surprising to see how all of the components, including fans, pumps, drives, RGB, etc. pile up into the total system from-grid power utilization. You can also spot (by just looking at the meter) when something is off if your idle and low use power consumption from the wall is suddenly higher than normal, which is helpful. -

It might be terrifying when your wife gets the electric bill if you are doing a lot of that. -
So, I finally got my hands on the latest VMWorkstation and VMTools and now have my Windoze VM set up in Linux.

That last one... "Celestial Spa" is so lifelike that identifying it as AI is difficult. Scary stuff.

Smoke and mirrors. Welcome to The Matrix. The fake news disinformation mills report what Xi Jinping wants the world to believe. They can't eat computer chips and smartphones. The news cartel is very good at putting lipstick on the pig. And, these are just the normies. Ask a Uyghur how things are going. -

Well, we had a brain-dead zombie muppet in the oval office when that toothless ban was issued by a feckless shadow regime of wealth-stealing woke sicko commie traitors. That's why it never happened. Much bigger fish need to be fried with the open border and what-not. More important things need to take priority right now. That day will come soon enough and when it hits it will hit hard. China's destruction will be without mercy and irrecoverable. -

Interesting... wonder how many people took Jay's advice? I bet a lot of people did. Misinformation is pretty common. Tom's Hardware published it, too. -
I agree with you. Even with the rolling release options there's a lag in support for the newest hardware. Day one hardware and driver support needs to be a top priority. Unfortunately there's going to be some of the sheeple that value form over function. If their OS isn't loaded up with a bunch of disgusting eye candy and other gimmicky crap they won't embrace it. Just like the rainbow puke they adore so much even when the hardware they own is anemic and lackluster. It's ironic that an OS that has been popular among poor people and third-world countries will probably eventually end up being the only acceptable OS for the people that are not Kool-Aid drinking idiots.

The biggest problem with Linux is support for the latest hardware. Sometimes it take 6 months to a year for proper support. I think most Linux developers are not early adopters of new tech. And, until some of them buy new hardware get the kernel updated and drivers working using Linux is not an option no matter how much you want it to be. I have had the most difficult time imaginable installing Linux on the X870E platform. It seems like none of the Linux developers have AMD's most current platform and haven't given it enough effort. When I started web searching I discovered I was not alone. Most distros are broken and installation fails at the point of installing the boatloader. I even removed all other OS drives thinking maybe Micro$lop was interfering by blocking access to the EFI partition, but that was not it. I tried numerous Arch, Ubuntu and Debian derivatives and all ended with the same error. But, I did not give up and I finally got Zorin installed after 2 days of farting around with more than a dozen failed attempts on both the ASUS and Gigabyte mobos. I tried GRUB, systemd and rEFInd bootloaders on each distro and tried different SSDs. All failed during the installation of the boatloader. Very weird. I guess that is one of the compromises when stuff is free. I'm using a USB ethernet adapter because the onboard NIC and WiFi are not supported. I can't identify why it finally worked and it was not the first try with Zorin. Supposedly kernel 6.15 supports the networking, but I tried updating to the latest kernel and it breaks the NVIDIA drivers. It seems there are no NVIDIA compatible headers for 6.15.
