In case you didn't test it, CPU performance, memory speed and memory latency are all worse with Windows 11 than Windows 7 or Windows 10. Funny how a company can  lose a contest against itself, generation upon generation. They're not moving forward. Installing Windows 11 accomplishes nothing meaningful.

Yup, Win 11 brings nothing. What did you expect from Microsoft's fantastic engineers...... The nice fellow below could have done a much better job. Going back to Win 7 was a god’s blessing.

I'm using MemTweak version 1.01.7 which seems to work across most version of Windows. Which I think is from 2012...

Which can be ran as a portable application.

That one @Papusanlinked seems to work on the Unify-X and Z490 Dark just fine, even on my LTSC 21H2. I have not tried it on Winduhz 11 CancerOS yet. I should go ahead and do that and mention whether it does or not. It is also a standalone EXE file, no installation required. I don't know what changed with Windoze, but that is the only one I could get to work on any W10 version after v1809. All of the other recent versions pitch a fit about needing to install the Intel ME even though Intel ME is already installed.

What version number? I will see if I have it in my archive. I don't think it shows the version number any place visible in the GUI. You have to look at the properties of the EXE file or the name of the zip archive.

I just checked and the one @Papusan posted works on W11 cancer, too.

Thats a very high memory overclock, Im surprised that your laptop hasnt crashed yet. I think you should backoff the memory overclock before you end up frying your GPU prematurely, Not even the desktop version can reach a overclock value that like that.

Its doubtful that your score will get any higher

Watt versions make no difference when you can flash a different vbios over the current one.

Also getting the laptop colder will help him gain more ground on the current version he has.

Side note: I'm going to say....Smart use of watts make a difference over wasted more watts in the grand scheme of things. Proven facts by at least 4 members in this thread.🙂

This is only to say....He still has more room to grow and he is not at his max limit. I'm about 100% sure of it.

The TGP "power limit" is nothing more than an arbitrary number the numbskull(s) designing the turdbook decided was needed for it to work according to their plan. You can remove the limit in the firmware, but you won't get any further than your temperatures allow. It does not have to be hot or in danger of overheating to be limited by temperature. The only way to avoid that is by abnormal cold. The more abnormal and extreme the cold is, the higher it will clock. The next roadblock is voltage. You can only clock it as far as the locked voltage cap will let you.

Yes, that's right... we're all puppets with our strings being pulled by self-anointed dumb dumbs.

He was fine without the massive overclock of his RTX 3060's memory. 1900+ is way behind a normal overclock. Like i said earlier not even the desktop version can reach a overclock value that like that without crashing. I dont want him to fry his GPU prematurely

Still reaching over 9000 in timespy with a 115w RTX 3060 is still pretty impressive without the massive overclock.

I think his Omen has a MUX switch which he can disable optimus to gain more performance in games with the sacrifice of battery life.

Having it doesn't necessarily mean they will benefit from it. But, the OEM can market it as having it without being sued for lying. It can be 100% true, but totally meaningless. But, it certainly gets the kiddos that don't know any better all excited. It needs to have a power limit that exceeds the functional limit of the GPU, have higher than normal voltage limits and run freakishly cold.  Only then will the power limit (or lack of it) actually matter and serve a useful purpose.

Well most people want something that slips into the backpack with relative ease for that sort of thing. I am not one of them, even when I was, I was stuffing 4 laptops into a bag before they started weighing carry on's for plane rides. My m4600 before I gave it away weight around 12-13 pounds.

True, you are right. He is fine without the massive overclock, but this is the benchmarking thread where massive is the name of the game my friend. Once you finish there, then you dial back down to normal perimeters for everyday use...

And 9k in TimpeSpy is a really nice score also, but when your chasing the next person on the list.... one tends to want to push a little harder on the gas. And since he hasn't unlocked anything on his card. he will be temp limited and hard locked on voltage before he can do real damage. Also with memory over clocking it has a tale... If you see 1 twinkle star in the background or black screen your memory over clock is too high.

Side note:

There are others with higher memory over clocks than him...

Why is that Windows Product Engineer banging on his keyboard so hard? He must be frustrated that Windows Store is refusing to update his UWP smartphone app trash.

Yes, whenever I go for a while without using Windows 7 and log in, it always amazes me how much better it is and it makes me sadder than normal to see what a botched up mess newer versions of Windows have become. We quickly get conditioned to tolerate garbage based on nothing more than familiarity.

I like the option of both. I love big body laptops and if a monster like my original mALX-19 came to market I'd be all over it again. On the other hand, for site to site or even some of our rPI, robotics and model rocket stuff it is much easier and more practical to take my Acer Swift 3 with me. Small, good power, killer battery life. Like you, when afforded the option to cram in multiple, smaller laptops I would. Even my daughter will only use 17.3" laptops.

I couldnt ever find something that really made sense for me in the laptop scene to cover all bases like I wouldve liked.

I ended up for a long while just using my upgraded Ranger at home and T440p for while I was away.

I would still be very interested in a laptop that has a strong, overclockable CPU in a 13" chassis with a proper eGPU solution. For a while I thought that would be the y410p with the ultra bay eGPU adapter but I never followed up on that.
