pretty good info, thx for that! it sounds like theyre taking things slow and safe, which aint a bad thing at all, considering how many investment bubbles and fake startups are just out for quick cash grabs nowadays, without offering any actual products or services. id definitely prefer that vs. growing too fast and having to shrink / lay ppl off again in hindsight. long game vs. short term gains. also, the focus on real estate and location likely has to do with overall low margins on their side (i.e. impact of tax savings are low for them, so not a high priority), backup strategies (i.e. higher real estate stability / expected returns after aqcuisition in case smth goes wrong with the retail business and using the real estate as plan B), as well as number of potential customers in a given area? all those points are just assumptions on my part though, just thinking out loud here 😄 lulz, thats a pretty weak follow up though, meager 50 bucks more? have u actually send him any counter offers yet? might be worth it to check how hed react to a specific number from your side. make it quick tho, as papu said, the more time goes by, the faster the chip's worth will go down. huh! without having seen the vid yet, id bed those gpus are for professional / server customers, right? gotta milk those insane B2B margins! 😄 -
dude wth, dont give us a heart attack here! glad to have u back on your feet. take good care of urself!

interesting stuff. i must say i was a bit worried when switching from my 15 inch 4k screen to my current Neo G8 at 32 inches and same resolution. my worries were that at such a diagonal increase Id start noticing individual pixels. but guess what? nope. its still insanely sharp and cant notice any individual pixels whatsoever! but im glad i went with the 4K Neo G8 vs. my initial plan of going with the Neo G9 1440p panel...

lucky grab! where did u get it? theyre basically sold out pretty much everywhere. keep us updated on your findings. the latest from HUB is that XeSS runs pretty stellar on Intel GPUs vs. green n red teams. classic! 😂 i remember benching and tuning my 485M in my Clevo P150HM with Crysis...seems like a lifetime ago. and imgur is the shiz 😋 -
anyone uses nvidia inspector. is 1981.beta the latest.?

hey bud, happy to help. currently on my honeymoon but will be back from the 13th onwards. hit me up via DM as a reminder and ill be sure to post the batch files here :) -
mwahaha. yes im a 4090 but i would be very happy if the 7900xtx was able to beat it in at least some instances!

haha i like how u went all 100% official with the naming incl TM 😄 keep us update on this bud, fingers crossed! huh, was about to suggest that it was likely with the redesigned rockitcool copper IHS, but brother Fox was quicker. weird they did that though, since it now doesnt have any mass advantage vs the stock IHS. but yeah, its a good replacement for using LM on top in order to avoid making the markings unreadable. im guessing this was before the post 4090 driver that pushed up 30 series and older performance 😋 what an irony, spending tons of money on such a monster gpu only to see it laying unused in a box somewhere to keep it safe 😅 J2C actually mentioned the same for his colleague who also has a 4090 sitting unopened in its box, too afraid to actually use it. 1950 was indeed crazy! although not sure this has anything to do with cooler design or power delivery specific for EVGA. rather luck of the draw? ur Zotac did pretty well tho wirh 1700+! as mentioned before, my suprim x is rather avg at +1550. whoa that pretty bad....i think the worst ive seen so far was like +1000. if the replacement does worse on mem but better in benches, is it just more efficient on its clocks? or how would u explain that? from what ive seen the bulk of perf increases in oc comes from vRAM rather than core, at least on ambient cooling. and good info on Precision not being able to control the fans for you, same for me but wasnt sure if this was specific to vendor or vbios. would be cool if they kept developing the tool even though theyre out of the gpu market. -
cuz less options for the user is better for business. the overall trend in hardware goes more and more tpwards convenience for the average user and less manual control for power users.

haha way to go the classic route! dude its like we played the same games in the early years in parallel haha. our paths only diverge starting with BF.

but now ure contradicting urself uncle Papu 😄 on one hand its this: ppl dont upgrade their system (i.e. your sons) and dont have money to splurge on hardware due to recession. on the other hand, you say: hey look! u dont need much money on upgrading your whole platform every year, use cashback, promotions, etc! and then thirdly, we see the INSANE amount of AM4 cpus being sold, outpacing both Zen4 and RPL combined! and lets not kid ourselves, those aint customers buying and building whole new AM4 systems, these are upgraders. so, which is it? people seldomly upgrade but they switch their whole platform every year? we are in a recession but ppl do upgrade their systems frequently? and AM4 sales are high because nobody cares about platform longevity (as argued against AM5)? doesnt make sense man, u gotta decide what ur message actually is 😄 cant just switch everything just to make Intel look good and AMD look bad 😋 and yes, ive already said previously that depending on what your priorities are, either RPL or Zen4 is for you, so its not like im rooting for any "team" here in particular. yep, sounds interesting indeed. ive bookmarked it but not watched yet.

yep, Nvidia is already rerouting AD102 chips towards their pro and server brands, naturally way more margin plus more oncentives for impatient buyers to get 30 series cards that are still in stock everywhere. lets hope AMD will be capable and also willing to keep RDNA3 in stock. they could potentially profit a lot with Nvidia being their usual dicks 😋 PTSD for sure. out of curiosity i looked around the market in Europe for 4090s and its slim pickings at best. basically only scalpers on ebay and douchebag shops trying to make a quick buck. i mean, stock and offers is THERE, but not anywhere near MSRP. as best i can tell, on average were talking roughly 500-700€ above MSRP. boy am i glad i got my Surprim X right at launch for exactly MSRP. at launch nobody thought anybody would buy the 4090 after the pandemic bloat and mining crash, so MSRP pricing was abound. now for similar pricing (or rather 50€ more) u can only get "trashy" cards by Manli and Inno3D 😅 yep, exactly my experience with 4090 shopping. lets hope so with upcoming availability and pricing. first AMD has to prove itself in 3rd party reviews, we dont want another big fat nothing burger.... huh i havent heard about that cpu perf issue when running AMD gpus, that sounds weird! and cant speak from experience, the last AMD gpu i had was a 7970M in a laptop 😄 ha, tell ME about it in terms of stupid SMDs on cpus @7950X 😂 however, from what ive seen so far it might be more worth it to delid Zen4 vs. RPL. but so far no plans for delidding yet, still have to improve case airflow first before i do anything else. as for delidding bad for LN2: dont XOC benchers delid anyways and completely fill up the package under the IHS with thermal paste? iirc the basically fill up every nook n cranny to improve overall heat transfer, i.e. even package gives off a bit of "side heat" that can be siphoned off to help overall thermals. good info, noted! yep good decision. the full copper IHS brings at best only 1-3C improvement vs. stock whereas the ILM can provide 7-8C on avg and up to 15C in outlier cases. so net one is better off going stock IHS + contact frame. as for naked copper vs. nickel plated copper i dont think theres much difference with LM, at least not once u ensure the naked copper is surface saturated with LM first to avoid dryout. cool, bookmarked! will watch right after im done posting 🙂 dammnit Papu ill unplug my 4090 right after i return home from my honeymoon to check on the pins 😱😅 there was a guy on overclock.net who went completely paranoid and unplugges his 4090 every single day to check on the pins. until je realized that doing so might actually bring about the connector demise much faster due to accumulating plugging cycles 😂 -
i would stay and keep you company! 😁
-
oh dude, that sux big time! hope u can get it back in time before they sell it off! damn, photorealistic indeed. basically looks like a real life recording of someone walking through the woods 😯
-
yeah, at least the 4090 cam dp 8K much mpre realistically than the 3090 where Nvidia actually advertized 8K gaming 😂 i think the 4090 caught a lot of ppl off guard, turned out way more powerful, frugal in terms of power and spikes ("frugal" compared to 3090(Ti) at least) and "good value" than expected. haha yep, at this point in time its doubtful if 8K will ever even become a "thing", if most reviewers at LTT couldnt even tell the difference between 8K and 4K (recently published vid). it could be smth like CPU cores and Ghz where specs have reached a "good enough for 99% of ppl" kinda level. at least for now it looks like refresh rates and color ranges / contrast ratios (HDR) will become more important moving forward.

watch me not ever flashing such a performance nerfing vbios! ill trust the community to come up with a non-nerfing solution, as always 😂 preach brother! Imagine that fake FPS booster doesn't use anything AI but also works on Ampere, massive kick in the nut for Nvidia for gating that tech to Ada Lovelace. of course those are 1st party data for now, but its surprising to see AMD placing the 7900xtx as a 4080 competitor and not 4090. the latter will at most only be about 5-15% faster, whereas the 4080 will be absolutely smoked. i guess it really depends on how much emphasis customers will put on RT performance. by AMDs own indirect admission, RT and upscaling algos WILL play a much more important role going forward. oh wow if rdna3 really scales up to 3+ghz then overclocked itll smoke the 4090 easily! AMD touts 2.3 ghz typical gaming clock, so at 3+ghz were talking +30% higher clocks! compare that to the typical 5-7% added performance when overclocking 4090s. iiiiinteresting.... -
yeah well...in the end theyre all just companies trying to make a profit and not friends for gamers / professionals 😄 so sadly, developments like these are to be expected. sure intel will have new tech, but that will require a whole new platform. with AMD, theyll release their X3D parts followed by Zen 4+ / 5 and guess what? can still go and grab an X670 or B650 mobo which will be way more competitive than Z890 or similar from Intel. argument of platform longevity still stands, as we can currently see with AM4. as for hardware cost, HUB just published a comparison of best midrange cpus, and guess what? Intel came out pretty expensive actually 😋 so the differences between AM5 and RPL aint really that significant anymore. same for gaming performance, very similar. what does that leave as a deciding factor? u guessed it: platform longevity!

oh ffs -
agreed. fpr AMD its about holding market share and expanding on it. every customer staying on AM4 is a loss for Intel. yes and no, depends how u look at it. look at it this way: if AMD is able to keep AM4 owners on AM4, thats a win. anyone else wanting to switch from AM4 will likely choose AM5 due to platform longevity. so that only leaves intel 12th gen owners who want to upgrade to 13th gen. AMD has shown that for them its more about the long game rather than short term profits. as you said yourself, in the current economy, the number of ppl going for platform upgrades every single gen will be super small. not everyone goes out running to buy RPL just because it benches a few % faster, makes no sense whatsoever for most ppl due to it being a deadend platform. later on, once AM5 has been out for a bit and prices have fallen, those same AM4 owners who enjoyed the platform longevity will likely switch to AM5 rather than buy a new platform every other gen with Intel. again, its a long game. AMD just cant compete otherwise due to their tiny size compared with Intel, so they gotta choose their battles wisely.
-
this. the X3D tech is just meant for gaming or productivity apps that profit from increased cache. for intel's side, their midcycle refresh in the form of the KS doesnt bring anything much to the table either, aside from maybe 1-200 mhz more 😋 so its not like these refreshes mean much aside from specific use cases (gaming for AMD, overclocking and benching on intel). well duh, they barely just introduced AM5, of course theyre not gonns drop prices right away 😄 no company in their right mind would do that unless something cataclysmic happened (i.e. mining crash). dont forget, AM5 is a long-lived platform vs. deadend RPL platform. any changes amd implements now theyll have to continue for the rest of the platform lifetime. besides, with AM4 cpu sales skyrocketing currently, think AMD is bothered by that? the money STILL goes to their pocket! 😄

id love to see what u would do to a 4090, go from 4 slots stock to 6 slots? 😂
