  1. 880M SLI works fine: https://www.3dmark.com/fs/28053101 Try your 970m 3GB MSI card. It SHOULD work and boot up. Problem we had was it kept rebooting in BIOS screen. I also have Clevo 970m I have been trying to get to work in M17xR3 (same platform). I have been trying to get it to work on M17xR3. I am using 3D screen so since you are using M18x R1 with LVDS it might have better chance to work. Make sure you are on unlocked BIOS. SG mode will probably work and give you BIOS restart issue but good starting point. PEG mode, make sure you go to advanced video options and integrated display device is turned to disabled. then do PEG and try. Try this vBIOS for Clevo 970m in M18xR1 after you've tried MSI 3GB 970M. It's for Clevo 6GB card I have been trying. Note on Clevo 970m, Mine is NON G-SYNC 13D8 device id. This is the one you want. If you have G-Sync model send me vBIOS and I'll try and mod it. BTW since you have m18x r1 with those gpus it will make life easier both of us testing vBIOS, you in m18x r1, me in m17x r3. So just report results per card per vBIOS and we'll go from there. Let's get 900M series working in these laptops. So far one user from our AW Club claims M5000M working in M17xR3 & M18xR1 using modified vBIOS (removing UEFI GOP from vBIOS) so that is what I have been trying. 970mnogopmbe.rom 970mnogopnoifrmbe.rom
  2. I get 16k firestrike graphics score, so it's similar to rtx 2060 performance. I went with RTX 3000 becuase: 1) This is a professional well-built gpu made for medical, military, etc. It will outlast all of those 1070 gpus that are "standard mxm 3.0b" format 2) RTX 3000 supports DLSS, Ray-Tracing, has full HVEC support (I can play my 8K video from Nikon Z9 smoothly) 3) The RTX 3000's I purchased were only around $150-200 more than the GTX 1070 card. This card MSRP is $1,534 so I paid an excellent price. 4) GTX 1070 has been done many times, no fun in that. Left slot in M18xR2 is primary. GPU needs to go there. On AW18 it can be in either slot.
  3. No you will have to contact them. I do know adlink wanted $1,534 for a rtx 3000.
  4. You need to contact Aetina. Go to their website and find contact email. Obviously don’t tell them you’re putting it in a laptop. Just say you’re looking to upgrade from P5000 or RTX 5000 or something. I will warn you, you can buy a whole new laptop for the price of the mxm itself
  5. Yes cards from the Quadro partners came later but most of the time they do adhere to mxm 3 standards. there was a member who got HP RTX 5000 working in M18xR2 back then as well. The A4500 (rtx 3070ti) in mxm format is coming from aetina/adlink next month. that will be an interesting card to test since the core is now offset as well
  6. I know but if the custom vBios bricks the card then need a programmer
  7. I ended up buying 970m. Quadro card vBIOS chip requires removing chip before they can be flashed with programmer from what I understand. 970m/980m vBIOS chip can be flashed directly. I've probably already flashed 10+ vBIOS on my 970m lol
  8. Hi all, I need help modifying 970m vBIOS to work in M17xR3. M17xR3 has no UEFI so it only works with legacy vBIOS. If newer card such as 970m with UEFI vBIOS is used, we get 8 beeps. I've been told by another person they had M5000M (980m Quadro) working in M17xR3/m18xR1 by modifying vBIOS and removing UEFI gop portion. I have tried this by removing UEFI gop and by removing ifr header and it still does 8 beep. Perhaps someone can help me modify it, maybe I am doing it wrong. I've attahced vBIOS. 970mstock = stock 970m vBIOS card came with 970mnogop = Removed uefi gop portion and padded file with FF 970mnogopnoifr = same as above but also removed ifr header to see if it helps only other option would be bios mod but that will probably be even harder. The original person claiming M5000M working has yet to respond to me. in theory this should work, when I had 8970m, I had same issue but VBE7 removes UEFI gop and the card worked for me. I do get a backlight on the screen but before posting it 8 beeps. 970m_vBIOS.zip
  9. Ah yes your HP RTX 3000 has offset core/mounting. the Aetina/Adlink/PNY RTX 3000 is standard mxm 3.0b and required no mods for me on M18xR2 heatsink. Next up will be testing A4500 mxm hopefully next month
  10. GTX 980M MXM Card GTX 970M MXM Card What are fair prices for these in today's market?
  11. Ah that'll be in November. Too far away for me 😁
  12. No one has any? Added 970M to the mix.
  13. From a few of our experiences, those all copper heatsinks aren't really any better than the stock dell ones. It also causes higher temps on vram and other components vs stock one. Core may be very slightly lower but not worth causing all other components to run hotter. Also that heatsink won't solve the problem @kenny27 will hopefully solve: offset core on RTX 5000/A4500 MXM I hope to be the first to buy and test one from him. @rocasgot my A4500 from Aetina. Will come late August I think
  14. Try Gelid GC-Extreme , @Mr. Fox recommended it to me awhile back. Surprisingly the all burning furnace GTX 880M is maxing out at 70C for me in M17x R3 using this. Also working with 2920XM in M17xR3 stock heatsink low 70s stock. Not sure how long it'll last but so far been almost a month.
  15. You have the ones in first post in hand? Would be cool to see one that doesn't need extra power connector and in standard format.
  16. Thanks! This is very interesting. My only concern is, does this properly support Quadro RTX series based on 2000/3000 series? Because mobile Quadro get black screen when flashing modified vBIOS.
  17. Did you try removing CPU and booting up then putting CPU back in? At this point it doesn't matter but these are some things I would have tried. I was out of town for awhile but hopefully you don't have to pay too much to have it working again.
  18. Did you blind flash A03 with all components installed? CMOS battery, battery, RAM, CPU, etc.? because otherwise it will probably fail (at least if there's no RAM)
  19. Price: $300 Shipped SOLD Condition: For Parts (Please read carefully, laptop works but has some issues) Warranty: None Reason for sale: Extra Laptop Payment: Paypal, Venmo, Local Cash Item location: Martinez, CA Shipping: US48 Included International shipping: Yes Handling time: Ships within 1-3 days Feedback: https://www.ebay.com/fdbk/feedback_profile/ssj92?filter=feedback_page:All Specification: This is an Alienware 18 that has a few issues but overall is a working laptop. Overall condition is good. However due to the issues it’s sold AS IS. Issues: Motherboard integrated graphics: for some reason when switching to integrated graphics, the colors on the internal panel become all weird. Using HDMI shows a perfect picture. The internal panel is fine because using nVidia Graphics it works perfectly fine. One of the tabs that connects keyboard cable to motherboard is broken. However I have taped it and it hasn’t had any issues last year I’ve used this laptop. There is a dent on the left top corner. Laptop was never dropped but it was hit against a door inside a backpack. It’s purely cosmetic. The nVidia graphics card inside is from another laptop. While it works fine for everyday use and multimedia, it’s not good at gaming. Other than these issues I’ve used this laptop weekly perfectly fine. If you upgrade the RAM and GPU it can be a very powerful laptop. It also has a custom BIOS that allows using the velociraptor NVMe MXM card if you can find it for sale. Specs: Intel Core i7 4700MQ 8GB (4x2GB) DDR3L RAM 80GB mSATA SSD 320GB 7200rpm HDD nVidia Geforce GTX 675M Graphics 18.4” 1920x1080 60Hz Display Intel Wi-Fi 7260-AC + Bluetooth Windows 10 Pro Original Genuine Battery (still holds 1-2 hr charge) No charger is included! I will ship it charged though.
  20. Try contacting ADLink & Aetina and see if they will sell for you and price. I want to see if they just charge people randomly or it's a set price. ADLink: https://www.adlinktech.com/en/Contact_us_form Aetina: https://www.aetina.com/about-contact.php Do NOT mention anything about putting these in laptops.. Just say you currently are using P5000 in your machines and are looking to upgrade to A4500.
