  1. The PSU's quality can be ok but they cut down on the wire gauge thickness. More metal increase prices and thinner wires make it easier for (less savy) people to route the cables properly in their chassis. Smaller chassis the worse. Should have been at least 16 gauge thickness on all (PCIe) cables. 15 thickness would be more proper (higher safety margin/higher current). Nvidia investigating reports of RTX 4090 power cables burning or melting theverge.com https://www.theverge.com/2022/10/25/23422349/nvidia-rtx-4090-power-cables-connectors-melting-burning I wonder how much this will affect the supply of 4080 and more of the 4090 cards coming weeks. Maybe the new new sibling of 3060 will help nvidia and it's partners to keep up sales of Nvidia graphics in this difficult time. The Nvidia fire crack continue... So appropriate with some fire music. Update 10/25/2022 4:30 pm PT A fourth case has allegedly surfaced on a YouTube video(opens in new tab) from the Bang4BuckPC Gamer channel. The user allegedly purchased a prebuilt gaming PC from CyberPowerPC with a GeForce RTX 4090. The power connector for the graphics card seemingly melted, and the user returned the PC to CyberPowerPC. We've reached out to the system builder for comment.
  2. Nvidia's 12-pin Power Connector-plug is designed too small and weak. And Nvidia went with 6 power pins due the small delicate GPU PCB design (3x 8-pins power connectors have 9 power pins). So do your math and find out how many power pins there is if you use 4 of those 8-pin PCIe connectors. The new 12-pin Power Connector should have been 50% bigger and nvidia should have offered 2 (some AIB partners don't follow Nvidia's design and mount the connector upside down) 90 degres angeled adapters, outside offering the regualr adapter they offer in the package. 3x 8-pin PCIe power connectors would never been approved for more than 450W (525w if we count in 75w from the PCI Express x16 slot). Because thats the specs . Hence Nvidia neeeded an custom power connector. But they screwed up the design of the connector. We would never ever have seen graphics cards validated for more than 450/525W if Nvidia speced the new cards with 3x 8-pin PCIe power connectors. A custom Gpu power connector is actually a great idea if the connector has been designed/engineered properly from the beginning (bigger, more reliable and with more power pins). Without the custom nvidia connector we would never seen Neptune 4090 with 630W vbios. Because nvidia would never ever made 4090 FE cards with 4 8-pins power connectors. And we both know why nvidia released 4090 Fe with same max TDP as most of the custom made AIB cards.
  3. Another GeForce RTX 4090 16-pin Adapter Bites The Dust published about 1 hour ago Great balls of fire!!! https://www.tomshardware.com/news/another-geforce-rtx-4090-16-pin-adapter-bites-the-dust I wonder how long it will take before we see a statement on status from Nvidia. Nvidia launched an investigation into the matter when the first case surfaced, and with good reason, since meltdowns are starting to become widespread. The user feedback shows that the problem may reside with the design of the 12VHPWR power connector. Bending the cables too close to the connector seemingly causes some terminals to loosen up, leading to uneven mating.
  4. As you can see... Not many of the computer chassis is meant for 4090 with the new cable bend specs (3.5 cm). The way Nvidia think the chassis door (glass or metal) is meant to be used....🙂 Yep, CableMod is very keen on marketing their new products.... Intel avoided it for their new ARC graphics cards. They themself helped engineer/devope the new connector. And AMD avoid it as well. Nvidia needed it because they wanted more space on the PCB for cooling (remember they designed the cooling meant for +600w). AMD Confirms Radeon RX 7000 Cards Won't Use 16-Pin Power Connector
  5. This isn’t good for flash nand. They should run hotter for max reliability (+-50C). Aka opposite of the ssd controller.
  6. Yep. And you don't need to be an idiot. There is many people out there that isn't so clever in tech. And many don't follow the manual properly. Their main goal is to cram it in to start use it. This means bad publicity. But they have to do something with this. There have been a lot talk about this the last months. And we can now see the outcome. Was doomed to happen. Even an bigger warning sticker in the Gpu package won't help. Because people are so different.
  7. Two redditors now report that their RTX 4090 graphics cards are now dead, and melted power connectors might be the reason why. NVIDIA might have a problem with some RTX 4090 catching fire https://videocardz.com/newz/first-users-report-nvidia-rtx-4090-gpus-with-melted-16-pin-power-connectors Nvidia prepare for needed vbios changes? How many fried cards do they need to inspect before they do needed changes? 10, 20 or 25? Nvidia reached out to OP with the smoked connector Have Nvidia and their AIB partners sent with a manual in the Gpu package with an warning/guideline on how to properly bend the adapter cable/mount it properly on the Gpu? I expect we will see more smoke and fire when more people who enjoy small cute and shiny SFF chassis finally get their hands on 4090 series cards 🙂 The gamers paradise this Christmas holidays...
  8. Still not validated prediction/statistic.... But here's a few numbers. SP 95-99 is like what would’ve been an SP 80-84 with the 12900K. Basically a mediocre sample. SP 100-102 is decent/respectable. SP 105-110 is an A. SP of over 110 means potentially a P SP of 120-130 and this would be golden as of current sampling But I have seen good benches (great results) from so called "mediocre" chips, so. https://www.overclock.net/threads/official-asus-strix-maximus-z690-owners-thread.1794802/post-29052675
  9. Here's from Jayz... We will see what nvidia will say if we see 10+ cases before Christmas ring in. (jonny Guru director of PSU engineering at Corsair). Maybe gamers should buy a couple of these 12VHPWR connectors and adapters in spare for Christmas holidays gaming, HaHa The 12VHPWR cable is DANGEROUS! But NVIDIA doesn't agree... Intel is the smart one. They avoided use own design. They helped design this junk connector.
  10. The 7950 branding is for the mid cycle upgrade on same arch (same as 4090 ti branding over vanilla xx90). And a chance for AMD to charge more. I hope AMD can have their best cards price point on 3080 level from Nvidia. Aka top out at 1200$ at max. Or 400$ below a4090. If the performance was around the same I think this would kick nvidia hard in the nuts. A 4090 Ti wouldn't help Nvidia from loosing sales of 4090 or 4080. Only a price reduction can save them. I think 4080 live dangerous with its price point. Nvidia should never ever put the high price tag for this card.
  11. AMD could offer their higher tier chips at same prices as Intel and still get higher profits due the Ryzen chips glued design. But AMDs greed have been there for 5000 series chips as well. They charged 800$ for mainstream. Such disgusting prices have we nevere seen before for mainstream. And greed will fire back. If AMD was smart they should continue offer 5000 series chips and AM4 motherboards in loads. https://wccftech.com/raptor-lake-boosts-intel-cpu-sales-versus-amd-am5-am4-dominates-5800x3d-leads-the-pack/
  12. Nvidia could have made the connector bigger and more reliable. But everything has to be so damn small and cute nowadays. And why make it with only 6 power pins? Damn stupid engineering. (they could even offer an 90 degrees adapter in the package). But that would increase the prices further above an already disgusting price tag. They just can't reduce profits as you know.
  13. Let the smoke game begin🙂 Within a year and this will be a nightmare for NVIDIA. Maybe nvidia should start offer an 90-Degree Angled 16-Pin Connector for free? Small sff chassis will be more and more popular (they are alredy). Domed for smoke and fire 🙂 Melted RTX 4090 16-pin Adapter: Bad Luck or the First of Many? https://www.tomshardware.com/news/rtx-4090-first-melted-adapter-cable
  14. AM4 Isn't A Good Thing For AMD Right Now. Why buy an new overpriced platform if you can get the old one for cheap? I wonder if AMD want to do the same again for AM5. Not so sure about that. Why sell it at $700 if the chips only cost sub 70$ to make? And what is the profits from the MB? Only God knows for now.
  15. I have also a couple of these I have huge space on the backside of the chassis so out of sight. Not so pretty but theiy do the job. A lot cheaper than fried fan headers🙂 And I use only power hungry 3000 rpm fans, so.... Two of them connected and you are near the MB's fan headers power limit (1 Amp). And I can't connect more than one of the 140mm Noctua 3000 rpm fans on the MB header due the power draw. Two of them will surpass the Amp limit.
  16. I have also fan hubs. Also the command center from Corsair. But I really love have a few of these lying in the drawer. For powering 4 fans and then connect one of the connector to the MB. And I use only one fan for each MB fan header. Even for the high amp fan header (3 Amp). No need to max them out.
  17. Microsoft just can't stop improve their latest and greatest. Windows 11 Task Manager is preventing the Safely Remove Hardware feature Ghacks.net Oct 23, 2022 in Windows 11 News..... The latest version of Windows 11 has a bug that may prevent the safe removal of hardware from the device. Users of Windows 11 who activate the operating system's Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media feature from the system tray, to remove USB devices and other devices connected to the system safely, may notice that this is no longer possible if the Task Manager application is open. Windows 11 displays the message "Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device", stating that the device can't be stopped by the operating system because of another program that is still using it. That program, at least in this case, is the operating system's Task Manager.
  18. Thanks. Is this with the chiller? And what with vcore? A chiller would reduce the temps and power consumption (the exampla I posted is done with a custom water setup). Should be a bigger difference between Sp108 and Sp97. But we still don't know about the leakage and the sub Sp scores.
  19. Nvidia found a new way to help its AIB partners to raise prices/keep them highest possible for 4000 series cards. So Nvidia don't have to rely on miners anymore. Rumors yep, but we know how Nvidia works and what's their goal. High prices/shortage of 4000 graphics cards will undoubtedly also help Nvidia and partners to get rid of the old stuff (3000 series chips).Big win in all ways (for nvidia), but not for the gamers nvidia was so concerned about. AMD need to push out their next gen cards... Now. NVIDIA Allegedly Shifts GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming GPU Production To Hopper H100 AI GPUs NVIDIA Prioritizes Hopper H100 AI GPU Production Over GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming GPU, Ada Stock Drying Up Everywhere. In a rumor by MyDrivers, it is reported that NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4090 gaming graphics card has been in high demand but despite that, the company has decided to shift its production capacities to meet the demand for Hopper H100 AI GPUs which are a more lucrative business for the chip-maker at the moment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Colorful RTX 4090 iGame Neptune has max TGP at 630W, highest from any RTX 4090 GPU videocardz.com The iGame Neptune from Colorful has the highest maximum power setting from all RTX 4090 GPUs. Nearly all RTX 4090 cards have higher max TGP (Total Graphics Power) for overclocking. There are models which have sub-500W TGP (ZOTAC), but the vast majority of GPUs goes higher. There are, in fact, models that go all the way up to 600W (NVIDIA Founders Edition, ASUS ROG Strix or Gigabyte Gaming). However, none of the card thus far has reached higher, that’s until Neptune was announced.
  20. Nice results. Could you post a 10 min run and also have Package power in the screenshot? Many got better memory oc results with Raptor lake. Many with ram problems, this was much due Alder lake (1th gen with DDR5). New platform as you know. And Intel continue improve it. So results should be better with 13th gen.
  21. In this video you can enjoy hear buildzoid's rambling about the e-cores. He really really hate them. As nice music in bro @Ashtrix ears 🙂 And yep, he won't change OS for the baby cores. They're not worth it, LOOL And Intel is ready to push out 32 of them for next gen processors. Of course with a 8 cores cap for the P-cores. Babies (e-cores), come dance with me, HaHa From 38:35
  22. Steve at Hardware Unboxed is usually an AMD fan. But he will rather go for a Intel platform with 13600K for (gaming - allwork) over AMDs continued AM5 platform support. Not eeveryday we see such statements from Hardware unboxed. AMD has to do something with the awful prices. Both for the MB and chips. All too expensive. From 19:30
  23. Microsoft's next goal is to squeeze out Ccleaner out from the market. Ccleaner's parents company Avast is already affected by Microsoft's security suite baked into their OS. They eat their own cooperation partner one by one. This just mean we will see even more bloat comong from Ccleaner and in Avast AV suite. Microsoft is working on its own CCleaner-like PC optimizer for Windows 11 Windowslatest.com - October 21, 2022 Windows isn’t really great at handling software as it wouldn’t automatically clean your registry entries and folders for all apps. The remaining files of uninstalled apps are all over your system, and it’s believed that the end result could be a slower PC. As a result, PC optimizer apps like CCleaner are popular among users. If PCs tend to feel clogged up and sluggish, users download and install PC Optimizer, Registry optimizer or cleaner apps. It’s not surprising, though. It is widely believed that speeding up a system is cleaning it thoroughly and removing the leftovers of past programs. There are several tools for speeding up a cluttered PC, but it looks like Microsoft is planning to join the train too. Over the past several years, Microsoft has been trying to make Windows faster and native apps smaller in size by pushing updates through the Microsoft Store instead of bundling everything with the OS itself.
  24. The scam and notebook trend continue.... Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 headed to laptops with an AD103 GPU More here:
