  1. have intel deep six'ed their entire graphics card plans? Or have they just stop selling their own branded version. They had alot of promise for creatives like myself.
  2. I talked about it a bit, but I am just waiting until we get some more income coming in from our business. I am planning on a new fractal North case, ProArt build.
  3. I am always here. Every morning I check in, and fart around. Life is busy for sure. Enjoy the family brother! My lowly 2070 super can't hold a candle to the 4090, but as time goes on, it will be replaced with my beast I am going to start building soon! ha ha.
  4. I am going to come back to this one. Anyone know how I could figure out how to get a 1080 panel on this system?
  5. Here's a look at the completed new dual monitor stand. it's dark I know. I had crappy light, plus my iPhone used the screens to judge the picture. You can see my wifes dell inspiron 11 3000 doing it's updates too.
  6. Not really, but thanks a million for the suggestions. I use wallpaperhub.app for a bunch but lately I am liking graphic / cgi wallpapers. I have one now that is pretty cool and spanned across my two screens. I would like to find more like it. I will keep investigating places. thanks again!
  7. I just installed my vivo dual monitor stand on my desk with my 2 24 inch dells. It works awesome. Having the monitor angled towards me and adjusted to the proper height is great for my work setup. I cannot wait to get editing on them and creating content for my clients and myself. it's TIME! Any questions about the dual stand I will try my best to answer them.
  8. I was doing some build write ups and the site only lets me post one photo etc. I think it needs to allow much more than one photo to be posted per thread. I don't want to have to go find third party hosting services, I would like like to drop a few photos into my threads easy peasy. Can this be added to the site? thanks!
  9. I am just circling back to this for a min. I am setting up my Sanyo PLV-Z1 again in our basement once we get the reno's completed (next week hopefully) and I am getting a motorized 100" 16x9 screen to drop down from the ceiling when we want movie night. My friend and I will countersink the screen into the ceiling and get it all set up and get a mount for the projector. The screen will drop right in front of my 55" Samsung oled tv. I won't be using it for computer work, just watching movies and the scattered hockey game when my son is visiting on weekends. Should be fun.
  10. Do you think a core i3-2367M with 4gb of ram and SSD will run the newer linux distros with some success? it' has intel 4000 graphics as well.

    new xps 15 2-in-1

I would say yes. The 16 2 in 1 is the closest model now.
  12. I would love to have a quad boot system. 8tb drive sectioned into 2tb for each system. Win 11, Chrome OS, MacOS and linux of some flavor. Would be a fun system for sure.
  13. They are really thin and light. I love them. For the money, I have not seen anything that I like as much. If money were not an issue, I would probably be rocking an Asus ProArt 16 or Razer 16. But, my trusty 14" two in one from dell with a few upgrades works for me now!. As for the old acer, it's a carbon copy of my other sons macbook air. Just as thin and light, screen resolution is the same, has more upgradability with an extra ram slot and 2.5 inch ssd / hdd bay. I am going to format that and put linux on it. I was going to do a hackintosh, but screw that.
  14. You can see my notebook, and my sons two in this thread. The wife's was absent from that photo as I was replacing the screen in his dell. Mine is center, his old acer that still chugs along nicely is on the left, and his new to him (my old) dell is on the right with it's new touchscreen, 16gb of ram and a 500gb ssd.
  15. I do. But the site here is very picky about how many you can post.
  16. There is a youtube video on converting gnome to a very "macOS style" setup. I think I am going to try that and see how it goes.
  17. Yours must be faulty. My Noctua's are awesome, silent but move the air that's needed to be moved efficiently. I will put pictures of my system up when I get my new monitor stand finish later today. The build is a Dell XPS 8940 SE, 10700, 2070 super, 128gb ram, 2tb NVME SSD, 1tb ssd, 512gb ssd, 8tb HDD, firewire card, and full Noctua cooling. All business, no flash.
  18. I have a bunch of stuff to do now. New dual monitor mount for the desk, new ssd pci e card for the acer server, and then load on the server OS to get it all going.
  19. I received the adapter today. I have to install a new stereo in my jeep, finish the basement reno and mount my monitors on my new dual monitor stand. After that, I am going to get after the server build. This should be fun. I need to get a new 120mm Noctua fan and see if I can add a low low low profile Noctua cpu cooler. Also, I need to pick up 16gb of ddr3 desktop ram to max out the ram on the server. Once that is done, I will load it with 4 of the biggest HDD I can find. Stay tuned for some updates soon!
  20. Dell xps 13 plus. Awesome thin and light notebook. Well designed, fast, great screen, great battery life. It's an overall great system.
  21. It's easier and cheaper to produce cool air than hot air. Heating my large house in -30 deg weather takes ALOT of energy. I could do with with wood and be more efficient but damn, it's alot of work.
  22. No. Not on our house. Our power bill in the summer is around 250 a month and goes to 500-700 in the winter with most of that going to heating our home. We have a total of 4500 sqft on 3 floors. When we were using our 120,000 btu electric furnace to heat our home in the winter we saw 1200 dollar a month power bills in the winter 😂 I let my dog out this morning at 5:30 and it was 21 degrees then.
  23. I just replaced the touchscreen on my son's Inspiron 5368. It was easy and took me about 30 mins. It's working perfect and have no issues with it at all. I would spend the extra and buy direct from dell however. The aftermarket parts are not to the quality. I ordered a base cover for my notebook and it never fit correctly and was the wrong color. I ordered the screen and the correct bottom and they both fit perfect. Buy your parts from dell.
