  1. It may be a blessing in disguise that none are available. NVIDIA didn't give partners adequate time for product development. Sounds like they had 2 weeks or less to design, test, validate and release products. We're already guineau pigs far too often, but this is absurd. Seems like EVGA might have been really smart for calling it quits when they did. I think Roman's explanation of why scalpers exist is probably very accurate. They would not exist if there was an adequate supply of product and idiots wouldn't pay more than a product is worth because there would be no reason for them to.
  2. https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/piece-of-junk.408651/post-2314773 😆🤣
  3. You have to lower your 14900KS to 5.0GHz or COD won't load? Even though I don't think 5090 is worth buying at the current price, I probably wouldn't be buying one if it was priced at the same MSRP as the 5080. I still have about $4K worth of medical bills from 2024 (deductible and co-pays) and will be racking up another $3800 in deductible and co-pays when I start my cancer treatment on 2/12. The combination of random lousy DDR5 memory samples and fussy/finicky nature of Ryzen CPUs can be very frustrating. The only memory that works excellent for me with the 9950X are the 2x16GB G.SKILL Neo 8000 sticks. The G.SKILL 2x24GB 8000 XMP kit is crazy flaky with it. The 2x24GB TG Xtreme 8200 kit works OK with the 9950X but doesn't work as well as the 8000 Neo. The XMP and EXPO profiles universally suck. The 9950X doesn't even want to POST with the G.SKILL XMP 8000 profile. It easily boots the TG 8200 XMP profile, but seems laggy with the 2x24GB modules. Manual timings are the only thing that I can say actually works well. What's interesting is that any of them work fine and perform about the same installed in the Z790 Apex. Moving from the 4-DIMM Cabron (yes I meant to type that) to the 2-DIMM Gene didn't really change anything in terms of performance but the memory overclock got easier and requires less memory voltage. I haven't tested the G.SKILL XMP 8000 48GB kit or the TG Xtreem 8200 48GB kits on the Gene mobo but there's probably nothing to be gained since the EXPO 8000 32GB kit works great and I don't have to waste time re-tuning everything if I just leave it alone. I don't really know what is different about the EXPO kit because I am using custom manual timings, but the EXPO kit seems to always cooperate.
  4. No, sorry that's a typo. Let me fix it. Edit: fixed. Thanks for saying something. I still prefer my LGA1700 i9 CPUs. I think they are better overall, but by a very narrow margin. If I were a gamer I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I think it is probably got some things to offer people that enjoy overclocking more than AMD does. AMD seems to be in a perpetual state of mediocrity with no real drive or passion for winning at anything. I don't think Intel has lost the desire as much as made some very stupid decisions in terms of CPU design. In fact, I like that winning is so important to them that their passion was killing their CPUs. There is an element of awesome to that.
  5. It does OK on 3D benching. It's really close to the 14900KS in almost every way other than the core ratio limits. It does better in Cinebench because it's not crippled by smartphone cores like the 14900KS. I haven't been able to beat my 3D benchmarks set with 14900KF/KS using the 9950X, but my best GPU is still installed in the Z790 Apex so it's not a level playing field on the GPU side. The 9950X is running the weaker Gigabyte 4090.
  6. Happy Saturday, Brother John. It's OK. Not a bad CPU but not something I would view as an overclocking enthusiast product. It's powerful but clock-blocked and will never live up to its full potential. Mine is a pretty average sample, but they're all clock-blocked including the best samples. Even on LN2 you have to resort to increasing BCLK to go past 5.9GHz on the better CCD. Best you can hope for is lower voltage. It's the only thing made by AMD that I didn't regret owning, so it's a good start. I like it enough that I will probably waste money on an X870E Apex unless it is priced like a 5090.
  7. If Willy Wonka selects me for a golden ticket I will let you have it since I am not interested. This is the only model that has the silly drawing. The better models are not available, but I am not sure the "better" models are actually better. Looks like Buildzoid is finding basically that they are mostly all the same products with different coolers and sucker prices for those that still believe more expensive models are better.
  8. I am not even looking to buy at this point. 5090 is a desirable GPU but the price is unacceptable and totally out of scope with any benefits it offers. I can't identify any tangible value in buying one at this point. Lots of things to mitch and boan about and they're easy to spot. I wouldn't pay $1500 for a 9950X or 14900KS even if it was a top 0.05% golden sample, so I'm not going to pay $2500 for a chance at spinning the roulette wheel on a 5090 that is clock-blocked on top of the silicon quality wildcard.
  9. Win it as a gift? Yes, that would be great. Win the "privilege" to purchase... 😑
  10. They are finding the bottom of the turdbook cess pool. There is no room for improvement because they are designed and built by idiots for idiots.
  11. Hopefully this recent pattern is not a permanent trend because the past couple of product launches have left me uninterested in the overpriced trash I was being offered. I fully expect the 9070 XT to be an abject failure that is harmful to AMD on top of the overpriced lackluster dung NVIDIA is offering. Windows is more of a disaster than anyone could have ever imagined it would become, with nothing good that can be said other than it isn't crApple filth. Factor in the Core Ultra trash and the ongoing absence of choices in 2-DIMM motherboards and it is becoming abundantly crystal clear to me that the industry is run by dumbass crooks that are incompetent morons and the future of personal computing is bleak. Something that will only be enjoyable for the ignorant, one-click, tap and swipe, bottom-feeding monkeys of the world.
  12. The part that remains unanswered is how much do I care. About this much > LOL People like us (you, me and others here) are very rare. Being honest has become very much a situational ethics problem for many people. True honesty and integrity are exceptional character traits that are no longer the norm. It wasn't that many years ago that the opposite was true. To the best of my ability I live by absolutes and avoid compromises or grading on a curve.
  13. I think if there is evidence of shady activities from scalpers and foolishness like bots and private distribution of links to selected individuals in a situation like this it should be treated as a financial crime (a misdemeanor addressed in realtime at the source) and all of the identified offending orders cancelled with partial refunds minus a reasonable "handling fee" required and the wrongly purchased products put back into inventory and sold to someone not trying to cheat, scam or scalp. The partial refund would be a point of discouragement for those motivated by secondary gain. Secondary loss (refund minus withheld handling fees) is their punishment for wrongful acquisition and it compensates the retailer for addressing the problems that those dishonest "customers" created for them. I like how the Prime, TUF and Pro Art GPUs and other products look. Very understated and industrial, similar to EVGA Dark motherboards. I saw a new MSI GPU that followed the very muted industrial look as well, similar to the new Prime and TUF GPUs. (I don't remember what they named it. I did not make special note of it because I am not planning a GPU purchase.) KISS principle without rainbow puke and shiny plastic or flashy trim, LCD screens, etc. I also think MSI making the Suprim LEDs white by default and only requiring software garbage if you want something different is a step in the right direction. Having rainbow puke as the default is disgusting. White static LED should be the firmware default for all RGB products.
  14. Looks like some of the less expensive 5080 and 5090 might have molded plastic backplates on them. Hard to tell for certain looking at stock photos, might just be CGI, but I've seen a couple of them that are looking pretty chintzy.
  15. No, these are listed as new, not refurbished. Most of the refurbished are "out of stock" and that is what is puzzling. Where were all of these brand new GPUs that magically appeared but were nowhere to be found before the 50-series paper-launched? Being held in a warehouse to keep demand and prices artificially inflated? Mysterious appearance of new stock of obsolete GPUs for sale at massively inflated prices (greater than NVIDIA 50-series paper launch prices) has collusion and extortion written all over it.
  16. It's interesting that NewEgg had no 3090 Ti in stock and now suddenly tons of stock for sale at 5090 prices, and 4090 priced at $1,000 or more greater than 5090 prices. And, 7900 XTX for 5080 prices. *sigh* people buying GPUs at these prices are being sodomized. Selling what you already own, if it is decent, is not a very smart idea right now. Oh well... it's all gonna burn. Now, where did I put my gas can and matches. Drop your drawers and spread 'em, kids. Hope you bought some lubricant. This video is not actually about 5080. It's a look at how we have been strategically and methodically screwed. NVIDIA ain't the only one. It's the new way of the industry.
  17. It's true. Can't fix stupid. Stupid+money is next-level idiocy. It's only an extra $1,000 per GPU, so what's the big deal? They have credit cards to make it affordable. Never mind the 29.5% APR. Defaulting on their payment agreement is sticking it to the man. Finding acceptance among their friends on Facepoot and TikTwat is priceless and gives their lives meaning.
  18. He (dom) is from Norway. He is indeed on overclock.net and HWbot.org. He received a pre-release X870E Apex from ASUS. https://hwbot.org/user/domdtxdissar/
  19. LOL, I know, right? I only see a "Notify Me" link at the MSI Store page, no preorder, so maybe @win32asmguy can let you know how and where he did that. It may have been on the B&H Photo site rather than MSI. Knock it off, bro. I don't need that kind of bad influence. 🤣 I'm doing my best to keep a clear head. That's like talking about a love of liquor in the presence of a recovering alcoholic. I've talked myself out of it already, but temptation sucks.
  20. I have no doubt as to the likelihood of some of the pallets mysteriously disappearing before they reached their final destinations. A lot probably disappeared before they got out of China. This is how many scalpers and criminal crypto mining operations get their inventory and it is usually an inside job somewhere along the path. I have been involved with claims on entire truckloads and shipping containers full of GPUs and other types of computers and electronics components being stolen.
  21. It might be smart to just ride it a bit and not try too hard to grab a 5090 and see what actually plays out as 5090s begin to trickle into the hands of people that know how to use them. You know how the hype train tends to work. The YouTube circus usually swings back and forth between fanboys and haters and we don't know what is for real until real people get ahold of products we wonder about. I expect more people will soon figure out that paying bucks for no benefit is dumb and the value of used 4090s will plummet with the better-built versions of 5080 going for around $1200 or an FE for $999. While it is not the flagship, I think 5080 is actually priced to value in today's grossly inflated market. It is priced exactly where a 4090 should have been priced. First time in a very long time I have been able to identify a priced-to-value PC component. 5080 pricing is like an ice pick to the testicles of everyone that purchased a 4090 at or near its intended MSRP and like something worse for anyone that paid more. The 5090 would only be a good value if it were priced to match the intended 4090 MSRP. I think it is overvalued by around $1000 to be honest. It's sad that people are scrambling to pay that and allow them to get away with it, but that happens all the time. People are always eager to overpay for things they want because desire and passion always trump good sense. I am guilty of it and most of us here are, but I think I might have found the bottom to my tolerance in terms of volunteering as a victim for price gouging.
  22. The only logical reason I would have to do it is to profit on the sale and have a nice chunk of extra money left over after purchasing the 5080. It would be of no functional benefit. But, that's a better idea (to me) than buying a 5090. 4090 is a better GPU than 5080, but they are close enough to the same performance that it wouldn't matter. I may actually consider doing that as long as I don't have to resort to selling it on eBag. I'd only offer it for sale in our marketplace here or at overclock.net.
  23. Maybe I will sell my Gigabutt 4090 and buy a 5080 and use the leftover cash to buy gold and silver. At going rates I could probably sell it for $2,000 to a moron. There seems to be no shortage of them.
  24. He is definitely a legend in his own mind. Here is a pictorial representation of abject stupidity in terms of pricing. Ridiculous.
