I am glad it only looks blue in photos. I like blue, but not my favorite for PC lighting. As we all know, that's white. 😄

Also, glad to know your cable wasn't melted.

That's great. I have some Alphacool paste on order and will receive it whenever my Aquacomputer Cuplex Kryos NEXT block arrives. I will pop the lid off the IHS when it is time to set that up. Maybe I was too stingy with the liquid metal. It is totally mysterious to me that the temps didn't change up or down after the delid. It's kind of freaky in a way, and certainly defies logic.

I am not sure I understand the correlation of the comments about the water temperature sensor if you are measuring CPU core temps and not thinking there was a difference.

So before the delid I had several screen shots that displayed a 22C water temp. But the water was really 14C. I had the water temp sensor just hanging and not dipped in water.

So I was comparing these screen shots looking back and thinking my water temp was 22C.

But yes there is a very large difference in temps. I do not go stingy with liquid metal I try to let it really soak in to that inner IHS too. Nothing for it to harm under the IHS. You could fill the whole thing up if you wanted and make a liquid metal pool with the IHS glue her back on LOL kidding. Also, did your IHS spin freely on the die? I lapped my IHS lips until they were all bare copper and a small gap for adhesive was between the substrate and IHS.

I will check that when I take it apart again. I don't use sealant, only one tiny drop of SuperGlue gel under each wing so I can easily re-delid by dipping the CPU in acetone (dissolving the glue). If I make it have a wide air gap then the SuperGlue gel won't work because it can't fill a wide air gap. That is how I have done it for years with fantastic results.

Edit: I mentioned before that the design of the copper IHS had changed. I forgot where I had put mine when I stopped using it because it would not fit the CPU frame from Thermalright. I found it. Here is a photo of the original design for 12th Gen. Note the notched sides and wider top surface.

Here is to give you an idea. (This is also based on who considers their LPM to be the correct one)

In my case my max flow rate with no obstructions, but still long tube length. (Like 12 Feet of tubing) 3 D5 Pumps.

Example for conversion is 6.2 LPM=372 LPH

Finally got the Aqua Computer high flow NEXT I bought on the used market here home. Below half price. Works as it should. But Aquacomputer is a disgusting company. They have a license sub for their software after the free one year after purchase of your 100$ gear. Yep, 1 year sub and 10$ = 12.5$ with the nice Norwegian tax on top here. Imagine if Intel have done the same... Sell you an 600$ cpu and you have to pay 12.5$ every year to be able to use etc XTU or other software for your processor. Would people be happy paying Nvidia extra $$$ for their nvidia Experience software every year after purchase of their graphics cards? But no problem... The flow meter screen show what any bloatware can measure. And it’s nice you can turn of bling bling lights on top of the flow meter. Also check the water quality etc. Most can be done from there. So, I like it as is 🙂

One pump connected... 270-275 l/h or 4.5 l/min. Yep, the max l/h bragging from any pump vendors sales page or many review sites is pretty useless. Igorslab reviewed this flow meter vs his expensive flow meter tool. Fairly accurate measurement from his testing. So this is it.

Fake numbers from reviews of single D5 pump with full water cooling setup.... 100-300 l/m is to expect from a single pump. Results will depends on how the custom cooling is setup. Not this pretty work of art below.

Bro Fox. I like the EK-AF Angled 2×45° adapters. I prefer these over the short sharp right angled 90° fittings. If you have the needed place in or outside your chassis then the slightly bigger arch can reduce the unwanted sharp 90° angle to help reduce water flow restrictions. Maybe not the big gain with one or two but if you need a few of those 90° adapters for your custom cooling then I expect it will help on the water flow.

I wish I had a bunch of those EKWB. They are very expensive though unfortunately. I think $28-$40 dollars each? But yeah I’d love to have about 10 of them.

EDIT: I just shipped off my 13900KF. I ended up selling it to a stranger on the forums for $1,200 USD who was attracted by its low power abilities which were fully Prime 95 stable. Honestly, I could care less personally. I know that I had a blast testing it. Now I get to test another one, I think that’s the most fun. So I went ahead and ordered another 13900KF from Newegg.

Also, someone else had my exact batch number X238L435 and theirs was a SP116 P-Cores, and SP88 E-Cores. Maybe mine was the same? Just a guess. We’ll never know for sure! Lol

Yep, maybe. I setup my base in Rust with enough resources for 5-6 days just in case delayed shipping on my new cpu etc, and shipped off the old one.  Not sure if you played Rust before? It’s a blast though. I have like 890 hours in that game. 600+ all on my 3090KP.

Excited to test another 13900KF though. As for a 4090? I’m honestly still content with my current GPU.

I am fully ensconced in FO76 and the WoW Xpac is launching in two weeks and I've been getting ready for that too. They occupy all my game time atm. 🙂

I'm in that weird place with my 3090ti....it is doing its job but I'm still going to list it at a price I'm willing to sell it atm. 🙂

Worst case scenario it sells and I head up to MC on the 13th and snag a 7900xtx. I would just use my Strix 3080 to tide me over and move the A770 into the wife's system.

I don't think you'll have to pay that much. And there are different brands that have similar (and I don't think the quality is so different). Dazmode have a lot for water cooling and from all known brands. And you have so many stores in U.S, so...

Congrats on the sale. Double the price was correct put. And you have decent cooling so any Cpu bin will works out for you.

Be happy many of you don't live in a tax hell.

European Retailers Slap Premiums on Nvidia RTX 4080 Graphics Cards
The best price we have seen in Europe is £1,166 ($1,368). This without taxes. In best case will a 4080 cost 1710$ here home😁

People like to living on the edge. Why follow the guide-lines for the Nvidia bend cable smokin nightmare? But small cute and pretty surpasses common sense. I expect most people have an fire extinguisher, so. But not nice be put on hotel Chrismas holidays😀 I prefer be home with fam and eat good food and not be out in the dark looking at the stars and fire.

Here is how the disgusting service/license from Aqua Computer works. I really like the High Flow Next but the awful idea grabbing even more money when you have already paid a lot for the hardware is is a let down....  https://licensing.aquacomputer.de/shop/aquasuite/de

And if you pay 3000 nok or 300$ for their D5 Next pump with leakshield you run into same disgusting experience. Aqua Computer will also charge you 10-12.5$ each damn year if you want to use their software for their high end 300$ pump.... Greed have no limits!!! Yep, you don't need it but people will jump on it anyway. Hence Aqua Computer can and will continue with this awful practice.

Spoiler

Spoiler

The end user. Notice I did not use the word "customer" here.

ASUS makes products for sheeple. Sheeple trust dishonest goons like ASUS and Micro$lop to do the right thing for them, but they do not. ASUS do not make enthusiast products. They sell products to people that view themselves as enthusiasts. We are a merely a duped commodity. Look no further than the Armory Crate abortion and you can see what kind of imbecile clown possee is running the show at ASUS.

Aqua sells digital garbage to the same group of misguided children. Those silly kids believe they need the bloatware. They are willing to waste money on trash software they don't need because they believe they do.

At least the garbage bloatware from Corsair, NZXT, ASUS and other vendors is provided for free (if you do not count data harvesting as a price). Aqua is "special" so they can charge their silly end users for the privilege of renting software they do not need.

yep, thats the same version i got for my lady's machine. i still think its weird why they changed the design to stock IHS format, one of their main selling points WAS actually the increased thermal mass and surface area vs. stock.

Lol

had a good laugh at that post, so much back and forth and drama with that EVGA OC type and now ure just selling it off to a stranger for 200 bucks more, no hassle, no drama. good for you man. my prediction: now that ure spoiled with the 13900KF golden sample, ull be totally disappointed with the next one u get 😄

So it has begun. Nvidia's 4080 has a TGP of 320 but Nvidia has limited it. Apparently, "recently" Nvidia changed how their cards boost. Before, Nvidia's cards would try to adhere to their TDP while under load and even try to go above it, with performance to go with it. Now the TGP is the LIMIT, so with the 4080, it will try to avoid going near the 320W TGP cap.

I told you guys that Nvidia was going to nerf the power draw of the cards. They haven't figured a way to do it with the 4090 (at least the batches they have already sold) but watch the next batches that make it to the public have different performance deltas compared to the ones people have. They may sneak a vBIOS update in their drivers, you never know.

I nicknamed them the "Green Goblin" for very good reason. Making the best video cards doesn't mean that they are good people or good products. (Being the best only means you are the lesser among evils, not that you are good, honest or reliable.) Excepting for maybe EVGA (and even they are a little bit suspect sometimes) none of the technology leaders are trustworthy entities that care about the people that purchase their products. Anyone that thinks Intel, AMD, NVIDIA or any of the manufacturers that sell their licensed technologies are good or honest companies are living in a dream world.

This is maybe a good thing for Nvidia. Low TGP and power consumption may help nvidia to avoid adapter bend-gate 2😁

08:25 - Embarrassingly Bad Value vs. RTX 3080

Don’t be a sucker and pay $1,200 for this card. Don’t be a sucker and buy a 2-year-old last-gen model at full price. Either buy an RTX 4090 if you want no-compromises gaming and creation performance—or wait to see what Radeon offers this time around, or wait for Nvidia’s prices to potentially fall after it sells through that mountain of older RTX 30-series cards. Because a 71 percent (71 percent) price increase for a 30 percent performance increase ain’t it. That’s harsh, but it’s true.

Again, Nvidia is asking for 71 percent more cash for that mere 30 percent uplift—$699 versus $1,199. At the same $1,199 price, the RTX 4080 is only faster than the RTX 3080 Ti by single-digit percentages. That’s absolutely insane and aggressively insulting to PC gamers. You should stay far, far away from this graphics card at this price.

Dell spew out their useless Alienware VP's into main hardware manufacturers. First F. Azor over to AMD, now Vivian into Intel. But this doesn't make Alienware any better. A new DELL AW VP will drag the Alienware brand further down in the dirt. Because Alienware is Dell. Not the opposite. Yet another reason to avoid Dell graphics. Nothing awesome will come from DELL. What a failure done from Patrick P. Gelsinger, the CEO of Intel.

My takeaway from De8auer's 4080 review:

Unlike before with the Strix 3080/3090, there are massive differences between PCB designs and cut downs. One great thing about the Strix 3080 is it was basically the 3090 from cooler to PCB.

4080 just isn't worth it if you have a 3090. It just isn't worth going through the hassle of selling at a loss then re-purchasing for that gain. 4080 makes the 4090 look like a tremendous deal. 7900xtx at $999 is going to rofl-stomp all over the 4080 16GB. Only logical upgrade for myself is the 7900xtx or a 4090.

4000 series on the new fab is going to give us a much bigger jump on mobile GPUs than experienced in quite some time. Watching him under volt 4080 and 4090 series into the 260-330w range for 4080 and 4090 and still get the bulk of performance gives a good omen for the heavily neutered mobile versions incoming. Ampere was hot and heavy for many reasons  (I'm looking at you Samsung) but with TSMC now in the building the Mobile gains will be substantial.

My biggest fear as always is deal breaking coil whine. Even he pointed out that 4080 monster coil whine it was so excessive and speculated as to why based on board design. My Strix 3080 would whine but only >200fps. My KPE 3090 was near silent and only came to life  >~300fps. KPE 3090ti? It just won't whine. Even uncapped and in FO76 toggle where pull jumps to 450w+ and fps 400+ it just won't whine. Even overclocking and benching it won't whine. I always had great luck with EVGA cards with coil whine but the KPE 3090ti is the pinnacle of just staying silent regardless of what I've thrown at it so moving to a 7900xtx or 4090 is of great concern (under statement). One reason I keep dragging my feet (besides the acceptable performance and aesthetics 🙂 ).

Here he is actually addressing the amount of coil whine and how he wouldn't even purchase a card like this. I have crazy frequency sensitive ears (I hear security systems, monitor whines and test off the charts at my ENT, etc...) and sit right next to my PC. Even with ANC headphones, I can hear even minimal coil whine and it literally makes my head want to explode and nauseous.

I was going to sneak (clumsily) it into the wife's system today since WoW is down all day for Xpac patch pre-launch events so she won't mind (in theory). 🙂

I am waiting on a 12400 to finish building out a gaming rig I was going to test the A380 against it and set it up here for my daughter to play in my ever persistent quest to get her to switch to a desktop from her laptop.  Basically set up a nice gaming rig with a Dell 25" 240hz gaming display I have on hand, decent cans good KB/M and let her game like it's meant to be played and if she suddenly says, "Oh I like this. How do I get this setup?" Just smile and give it to her and go set it up at her place. ♥️

High pitching whining sounds annoy the hell out of me as well. This is why I'm glad CRT screens went away. They always annoyed me when they were on. It's only high pitched sounds that bother me though. My Noctua iPPC 3000 RPM fans running at full blast do not bother me, even when I'm right next to my desktop.🤣

Edit. Btw... Asus is equal retarded as well.  Asus should be aware of this stupidity.  Yet, Microsoft want to give you unwanted updates with blessings from Asus software/firmware department. This old buggy bios version have been on Windows servers a long time. Asus could have asked Microsoft to remove it but they don't bother. Asus = Dell nowadays.

If you have a newer firmware, Microsoft prefer that you update with blessings from Asus. Wahts wrong with todays tech?

Sorry if this is obvious, but you can prevent Windows update from updating drivers by a simple Local Policy setting.

Speaking of Green Goblin/Ngreedia - how long has it been since the 4090 release? I haven't seen 4090 FE availability in Nvidia store even once. Yet eBay is chock-full of FEs from scalpers. The fact that Nvidia has taken no steps to prevent this (e.g. the subscription service EVGA offered during the mining shortage) puts them in the same category as those scalper lowlifes.

Welcome to TGP hell that has been a sad reality for high end / DTR laptop users for several years now.

Nvidia produces the best cards but they have zero love for people who want something special and so they neuter their cards with overzealous TGP limits instead of just throttling at temps that Nvidia deems too high.
