AMD's Radeon RX 6600 Emerges In MXM
jaybee83 replied to Expresstyle's topic in Components & Upgrades
i dont really have a proper context for an RX6600 Desktop, how does it compare to 2080S and 3080 mobile? -
clevo p870km bios question and upgrade to rtx3080 on the way.
jaybee83 replied to Scruffy's topic in Sager & Clevo
well generally, as long as u only mess with clocks and not voltage (which aint possible with current gpus anyways, except unverdolting) temps shouldnt change much, thus deterioration rates would not increase at all. best thing to do, of course, is to do both UV and OC at the same time ๐ -
congratz on the long-distance move, i know how u feel! same goes for the significant climate change, getting used to the cold yet? i think ill still need a while... ๐

aha, ok! that config would change things up consideably, having both top and bottom intakes ๐ good thing that caseking provides such config templates, kudos to them! thats weird stuff with the eiswolf 2 bud, makes me skeptical to invest money in that... be that as it may, ill have to check air cooling performance first on the 4090 and see what i can improve there via liquid metal, repadding (depending on how godรณd/bad the stock pads are) and hopefully some 600+W leaked vbios without EVGA KP to help us out this time....

AMD's Radeon RX 6600 Emerges In MXM

nice find, i especially like the fact that redditor was able to push the TDP to 130W+, thus making this a fullblown desktop 6600 ๐ -
CDPR Announces New Cyberpunk and Witcher Projects
jaybee83 replied to Hertzian56's topic in News & Announcements
thatll take yeaaaars before we see anything even resembling an early alpha... but still, will be on the lookout -
boo indeed! BGA graphics FTL, why didnt they at least offer a 3080 option?! ugh... at least "nice" to see that all compatible cpus are ACTUALLY compatible with that machine's socket...soo...applause for implementing the absolute minimum, i guess?

dude, talk about LAN flex ๐ noice!

60 bucks, WTH! is there at least an option for OG owners to get it for free or heavily reduced price? i dont care personally, just interested in game prices and this trend of remakes in general...

and people here think IM doing a crazy-ass balls to the all, money no object build? id consider my upcoming setup in the "budget" class compared to this ๐

whoa monster post, thanks for all the input and feedback! glad to see that that missing option in the poll is likely of no consequence for most users here. us pc freaks seem to be few and far between, so its nice to have a place like NBT where we can rejoice in our high fps and low temps ๐ค๐ but even for me as a decades long hardware enthusiast, ive only started researching stuff like keyboards and power supplies in more depth when i started planning this build about 3 years ago. since i needed all that time to save up, it gave me more than ample time to actually dig in and research what kind of standards and features to look out for. btw, speaking of the 7950X and building excitement, it arrived today! ๐ค thats 6 out of 11 components in hand now, were making serious progress! ๐ ill update the OP accordingly. LOL someone's excited for that new Evo case hahaha! tbh im not a big fan of vertical gpu mounting, main reason for that were sub-par temps. and ive always been a guy who goes for function over form ๐ HOWEVER, im curious to see if that sidemounted vertical gpu position in the Evo would make a difference. ud basically get fresh air from the bottom intakes, lead it onto the GPU and then out of the case (do i assume correctly that the area behind the gpu would be fan outtake holes connected to outside of the case?). at the same time, if the gpu sucks up too much of that fresh air, u might be hindering the cpu cooling, since it depends on front to back air movement as opposed to bottom to top/side flows. keep us updated on this when u get the case! as for the alphacool eiswolf, ive actually been considering that on and off (still undecided) as a custom option to watercool the gpu. im surprised to see that u didnt experience any improvement in temps? is the stock air cooler that good or was it maybe sub-par mounting of the eiswolf block? could also be that the quick disconnects on the eiswolf tubes restrict water flow too much and thus cause meh temps? edit: OP updated with 7950X received and details on the CPU cooling!

Team Red all the way I can see hahaha The X570S Ace from MSI was actually in my potential mobo list when i was still saving up and updating the build list every time something new came out. pretty strong VRMs and lots of I/O for a pretty good price. hows the 6900XT treating u so far?

i wonder if the thick ihs discussion is bad enough, would AMD consider making the package thicker instead for future cpus not to lose compatibility? one could dream haha

and now ure back to have some more laughs ๐ good stuff!

huh havent noticed that, weird. but shouldnt be different due to memory since number of chips is actually the same, just double density on 3080. altho i doubt the 15W difference will make up for the difference in cuda cores? not entirely sure tho since the difference is by no means huge...

hm interesting, got it on my watch list but havent started yet. lets see... i do agree tho that star wars has started this kinda "watering down" journey ever since disney secured the rights. seems like too much material in too little time, same for the MCU...

*Official Benchmark Thread* - Post it here or it didn't happen :D
jaybee83 replied to Mr. Fox's topic in Desktop Hardware
my bet is that these insane prices will fall pretty quickly once the nvidiots realized theyre not the only gpu game in town anymore @RDNA3 and they finally got a read on the global consumer room not willing to pay such mining pandemic prices that have completely overstayed their welcome! 0mg dude....the only thing more crazy than getting a 4090 on launch (look whos talking amirite ๐) is getting it for a frigging egpu setup and pairing it with an 11th gen mobile cpu ๐ me? excited? dunno what u talkin about... ๐คช -
i am a bit skeptical when it comes to any kind of image quality enhancing algos, really depends on the general implementation, the game itself and the users susceptibility to minor or major artifacts. best baseline is always to have high raw performance in rasterization and ray tracing, of course!

agreed, more options is always better. but as far as im aware, implementation of PBO did not take away any manual tuning possibilities. naturally, every arch has its irks and custom stuff that needs to be considered. hm, difficult topic. i 100% get where ure coming from, ive known u long enough in the forums haha. but if were being honest, in the end it all comes down to a pay to win mentality. all the oc skills in the world wont help u if u cant afford to purchase extreme pre-binned hardware of get hundreds off the shelf items to bin urself in the first place. add to that connections to the industry and getting access to hardware early, being able to purchase exotic cooling gear, etc. and yes, i get that its possible to get "creative" like brother @Papusan is currently doing with combining older with current hardware to collect oc points on the bot, but even that takes a lot of disposable income.

thats exactly what i was hoping for when posting this thread ๐ i mean, i dunno about u guys but in real life i dont reaaally have any buds being as excited and knowledgeable about pc hardware as most members in this forum. so its just SO much more fun to be able and share this excitement with u NBT bros ๐

nah no one said PBO is better than manual. at least so far absolutely none of those "automatic" oc algos are better than good ol' manual elbow oc grease ๐ its about how much of the whole potential oc range u can make accessible to the every day joe user without him/her having to do any manual tuning. and just because the leftover oc headroom gets smaller because of that, us manual tuners cannot get mad at the chips being "worse overclockers". its just that less headroom is left for us to tickle out of it via manual tuning. thus, less additional range to make us stand out from the average crowd. but that shouldnt be the overall goal, cuz that would just be aristocratic elitism and trying to leave out as many users as possible from getting max performance.

dude this sucks. unfortunately, no company, vendor or reseller is bulletproof and safe from these kind of experiences. i wish this stuff on no one, just total waste of nerves, money and time.
