    Guess I missed this thread. Again with the Company of Heroes 1 which I have been playing skirmish for a few months now, easy to watch something else while playing. Arkham series, RS* major releases, Dead Space series, FONV/3/4, Yakuza series, ACodyssey/origins, TW3. Smaller indie classics.

    Yeah the 13" is probably to save costs for them and customer but for the available upgrades 15.6 would be better imo. The buyer of this isn't too concerned with price/perf mostly to support the company and the easier interchangeability/upgrade concept. Working for a long time in one place just bring along an external screen though.

    I have moved to another location and thus another network which is way faster and rock solid. It was just the really bad wifi they offered and probably some sort of timer or tripwire of other kind to kick people off. If I was willing to wait for it, it came back to access. It would stay connected and secured but offer no wifi, really crappy. From the router model info it was only 2.4 and router was only g. It had several channels and I usually just moved to the next closest one but still had to break the flow of work. All the seen networks were just different channels of the same big network so I think when my card couldn't see any it was just to do with their network etc I used a ton of my cell data instead when I absolutely needed rock solid connectivity but as I said I don't have a ton of cell data to work with for pc use. Terrible wifi and network: case closed.

    Branching out from my COH1 main game into a couple of simple games. Haak is a game pretty similar to Hollow Knight, has more pixelated graphics though and certainly more forgiving. Islets is a cute little casual game with great art very pretty. More I play Islets the more it's also like hollow knight but has a mostly bright theme instead of hollow knights dark colors mostly. And Islets not as long pretty short game, several similar upgrades, enjoyable though. Those two are a nice hollow knight fix until they sometime? release the next one.

    I just went to the yt and somebody had them all listed. I agreed with about 10 of them,HL2, arkham, hollow knight, R* stuff,TW3,Silent Hill2. I can't see odyssey tbh it's not that big of a difference from the other classic 3d mario games just the hat mechanic and some other clever new stuff but that over 3d world or the galaxy games nah. SMW in 2d like Hollow knight should be on that list even SMB3 but it looks like they had a cutoff for old games, shadow colossus is there, way old. You could just lump elden ring in with the whole dark souls games not much different but one of them definitely should be on the list. Same goes for the whole arkham series really great stuff. With my current COH1 binging I think that should be there but it's not a huge series more niche. I think at least one sim racer with tons of free content should be on there, I stick with rfactor1 for ease but the other similar modern games are also amazing and for casual players can be adjusted. FH is dazzling graphically though, still have not really played FH4 much still installed. IMO the rest are more niche personal choices or are console focused.

    Thanks for the response. I have all those already set to that other than the Roaming Aggressiveness, I have it at the highest, is there some reason for medium setting? I don't know if this hotel has it set to just kick people off periodically or not, sure seems that way. They have several access points I usually move around to but it really breaks the flow of work to have to do that. But it's weird that the wifi card also temporarily can't see any networks, thought that's independent of whether they kick you off or not. From the network page it is an old g router.

    I've had a pretty unstable wifi lately, I don't own the router and I don't have access to it but it goes out all the time which makes no sense, my phone gets just fine full bars and I actually end up using it with pdanet usb tether but I don't have a ton of data in may plan only 10gb which doesn't last with videos etc so I'm stuck with this for now. =========== The main problem is that just randomly my intel ax201 160mhz will just drop the signal and it doesn't see other signals either, usually troubleshoot reset fixes it but I'm wondering if there are some settings in the wifi advanced tab I can tweak. Specifically I noticed the second setting down the list shown, I tried both n and ac and it just cut out detecting no signals I'm not sure what the router is I had the model here somewhere but can't find it. Would that be a helper with this if I got the right config? Any advice on the other settings or just major helper ones with the signal?

    Yeah kinda wondered where you were. Oh idk this site seems to be more for very specific mega topics like benchmarking which I'm not into just for tweaking or scores and have no reason to do, my main system performs fine as is and slightly tweaked for my needs even if it's a turdbook. I only have the one main laptop system so all the desktop stuff isn't applicable either. Not as much of the old precision stuff which got me into NBR. I could post more on some threads but then I'd be the only one posting multiple times seems like, and that's not a good thing.

    Yeah it's definitely odd how pc woke stuff applies to some dialogue etc but this whole game being mostly a crime simulator is fine. I mean they could have a toggle switch to turn off potentially offensive language, maybe a for broadcast version lol. I wish they had one for some words and expletives they use that I just don't want to hear. From the article there there was also nothing about the online component which is the most important to most players and of course RS. I plan on skipping this series going forward because I'm played out on it frankly. GTAV was fun but I'm mostly a SP and it's just not the focus, maybe if they had a lower priced SP only version I'd consider it but that's unlikely, bundled like cable no thanks. I have no problem going back and replaying any of the 3d PC versions every once in a while if I get the urge. Like I've said I had a great time with San Andreas vanilla original with a couple of QOL mods a couple of years ago. 4 definitely could use a refresh for PC but I don't have much confidence in RS to do it well. Maybe the best hope is a remake and then mods to clean it up.

    Been watching Audie Murphy westerns, they're pretty formulaic but feature some really nice settings, seems like all similar to Zion NP. His acting is pretty understated. Ride a Crooked Trail ironically doesn't feature too much stunning natural beauty but has a pretty interesting story. Murphy was the most decorated American soldier of WW2, he made a ton of westerns and other films including one that was about his war experiences. He sadly died in an airplane crash in his 40s.

    DEHR definitely a classic played the he# out of it a few years ago, might be time for a replay. I only ever played the original. Definitely better than DEMD imo.

    Yeah I think what I did, in late 2020, was got one of those asus or acer gtx 1650 laptops around nov 15 and walmarts holiday extended return policy doesn't start the 30 days until dec 26 for things bought there between nov 1 and dec 25. So I had it close to 2.5 months before returning it for a full refund, when I got this 15.6 gateway rtx 2060. For that size it's a good deal I've only seen 3060 laptops for around 1000 at the 15.6. NotebookCheck didn't do any review I could find so no way to know what the gamut and response times are but yeah they are probably not the best like mine but good enough for general users imo Someone asked about the mux switch and they said no but I'd guess whoever answered had no idea what a mux is, probably thought it was a physical switch somewhere. I know Eluktronics uses these same chassis and advertises the mux switch, hard to find which one now though because this is from 2021.

    I came across this on walmart website. On vipoutlet it's 50$ cheaper new than the walmart site but I think you only get 30days returns on there as opposed to walmart is 90 days. I know a lot of people say it's only 14 days but from experience they'll take back laptops within 90 days with a receipt. I've had good luck for 1.5 years with the 2060 15.6 variant. I can't tell where the webcam is on this model but suspect with the new chassis they've moved it to the top as opposed to the nosecam of mine from 2020. The 3050ti seems to be the equivalent to the 2060 but it only has 4gb vram. From mine it probably has a mux switch unless they changed it but tongfang variants usually don't. The i7 looks to be a quad only. 120hz ips, 16gb ram, 1tb nvme, from reviews on the gateway site it looks like it has a 2.5" bay. I couldn't find any official reviews by major sites only user reviews on walmart and gateway sites. Still it's not too bad for 900-950, although I'm pretty sure you can get a 3060 15.6" equivalent for not much more. https://www.gatewayusa.com/GGNC-71719.html

    ROM Read Only, no burn. I'd just order an USB external DVD burner online or get one at stores that still sell them. I have one of those extra hdd/ssd holders that fit into the drive space. I still have an external USB DVD burner I got for around $20, 10 years ago still works fine.     Crap move especially with the dlc for offline that were paid for. Only two of that list I have played in the last few years is FC3 and SCBL and always just single player. Says they did the same in 21 for a few other games and I recognized the Rainbow Six Vegas games, man played the he# out of those back in the day lol Edit: I was reading the comments and it says if you already own the DLC you'll still have it, they're just delisting it for sale so there you go. It also reminded me that Black List had a few places you couldn't access unless you were online MP.

    COH3 releases Nov 17, looks like it has a North Africa and Italian campaign. I think it's only 2 German and the USA/UK factions so 3 total no Italians. I'm hoping it will be more straightforward and user friendly than COH2 was with its convoluted systems and too much focus on buggy online stuff. You don't actually get to the gameplay until about 5 mins into the video, ugh.     Woah sounds pretty terrible, I've had similar experiences with abusive family before who are not going to change too selfish and malicious. Typical "this is me and everyone else be damned" attitude. They don't actually care at all no matter what the going through the motions "caring" manifests itself as like presents, help in various physical ways etc It's sometimes just good to completely decouple and maybe or maybe not tell them about how they are abusive and destructive, limit their influence over you physically and emotionally. Write them a letter and don't bother to send it if it doesn't seem worth the trouble but it's good for you to get it out like a journal so you know you've communicated it externally and let it go. Maybe burn the letter etc All I can say is that life is a gift that has so many possibilities no matter how small that you should never give up. Little seemingly insignificant triumphs can and do add up to meaning and purpose.

    Was having blocky picture with an hevc x265 mkv file even though my cpu usage was around 5% so it shouldn't do that idk. Same problem vlc, pot player, mpc-hc etc Did a short handbrake reencode of about 30mins length to x264 bam no problems.

    Lol yeah agree I wouldn't want to be that immersed in a crime simulator and many many many other games, they're good away on a screen for me. Might be kind of fun in non violent type of game or for light therapy and nature therapy. Still the point is that if modders don't use any code from the game and don't add anything other than compatibility with a different device how can they just bully people with the threat of legal action which is so expensive that little guys would just have to give in. It's abuse.

    Oh congrats on the venture. Nothing out there new that really appeals to me just sticking with the games I have. I may dip into COH2 since I have not played it for years, I'm not sure it has offline skirmish which is what I like as a casual game while watching shows. COH2 seemed to be very online focused too from what I remember so we'll see. They are developing COH3 now.
