  1. Dell added RTX 3080 options to their Precision 7560/7760 late last year. They are thicker business machines that are very well built, modular and easily repairable. They have conservative TDP's which is probably a turn off for people looking for max performance, although because of that they are not very noisy or hot.
  2. Maybe left over chips from their previous generation production allocation. No reason to not pair them with a 12th Gen CPU at this point.
  3. Was Costco able to ship your order out promptly? So far I think even a modest -50mv undervolt has helped with fan noise in the default Balanced mode. No fan spikes or pulsing any more and slightly higher all-core turbo speeds possible.
  4. Yes. The option is in the Intel igpu command center app. It is odd that gsync is not supported. Not even an explanation of why.
  5. The GE76 240hz QHD panel does support VRR in hybrid mode. It is a 400 nit panel. Sadly the stock 12900HK phase change thermal material still has 10+ degrees core temp differentials under load. Idle temps are 40C which is good. It can be undervolted unlike the 12700H.
  6. How did you measure undervolting working on it? Everyone seems to indicate that only the 12900HK can undervolt this generation. The 16:10 1920x1200 165hz panel is really nice. It is a shame that it is regarded as inferior to the 2560x1600 option even though it allows for use without DPI scaling. I guess if they could bump its refresh rate up to 300hz then it could at least be appealing as an Esports option. It appears Lenovo will also offer it on their Legion 5 Pro paired with the 3050Ti. Maybe as a spare part it could be installed into the 3060/3070/3070Ti model. That would be much better than the Asus performance and noise wise even if it is heavier and with the comical 300W Lenovo brick. Has anybody tried Windows 10 on these Alder Lake mobile models to see how they perform?
  7. I would hope it could be possible to get 5.2ghz with 1-2 cores active. Obviously all cores is not possible with the current heatsink design.
  8. I have heard that the models with i9 this year have a phase-change liquid metal pad. A vapor chamber would be nice but even an extra heatpipe on the CPU side would have helped. I also read that some others have installed Honeywell PTM7950 to good effect. If I had to guess, a good self-install might still do better than a factory paste job in some cases. Another user who got a GE76 with 12700H was saying that changing the turbo multiplier in the advanced bios were not sticking, which is sad if true as it would be nice to take it to 5ghz on light to mid usage so it can match the 12900H/HK in those scenarios. I do believe undervolting should be possible on the 12700H despite some other users claims.
  9. If you find the stock heatsink is still thermal throttling it is possible to use a 2mm height aftermarket heatsink. It is even a better situation now that you do not have to worry about depressing that drive slot power switch. I also tried 4mm which definitely was too thick with the bottom cover in place.
  10. How do you like the 16 inch 1920x1200 165hz panel on the M16? Any issues with fan whistle like some of the Legion's had? By chance do you know if the HDMI/USB-C/TB4 connect to the Nvidia GPU or Intel GPU, with the MUX set to hybrid mode? Either way sounds like a good deal and should compliment your desktop well.
  11. I am using 32GB (2x16GB) of the older branded HyperX at 3200mhz CL20 dual rank without issue. The kit has Micron IC's.
  12. I had the same issue with my Logitech MX Anywhere 3 mouse. The issue was fixed by making a registry change as described here: https://www.dell.com/community/XPS/XPS-9310-Bluetooth-lag-with-Logitech-MX-Keys-MX-Master-3/m-p/7795277#M77883 Note that it may have to be reapplied multiple times (bluetooth driver update, or windows simply deciding to override the configuration). Also note that the VID/PID may be different depending on what version of wifi card you have. I had the AX210 non-CNVI card and it was 8087/0032 for me. Also one of the bios updates supposedly "addressed" this overly agressive selective suspend, but I found it to not make a difference. It is a shame, because the registry modification does increase battery drain from the bluetooth chip.
