  1. duuude if that is not a testament to the longevity of clevo machines, i dunno what is... good luck with your search and welcome to NBT! 😃
  2. omg YES! ive been advocating for a cpu focused DTR like this for ages! remove dgpu and 2.5 inch bays, stick to 2xm.2 and 2xram slots and use the whole remaining space to maximize battery capacity and cooling. add to that proper TB support for egpu and u got urself a winner! id buy that in a heartbeat... btw seems like the bios/ec has a problem issuing the vcore change to the e cores. would suck if the only way to uv would be to disable e cores, defeats the whole purpose of having max multi core perf at hand and still be able to maximize battery life... btw @electrosoftgood job on pimping up the OP, now we got ourselves a proper lounge here 😁
  3. no worries mate, well figure this out 😉 lemme know how it goes! oh and btw, welcome to NBT, seems like youre our 400th and thus newest forum member! 😃
  4. removing the cmos caused the bios to reset, so next boot could take a while. let it sit for a while (2-3 min at least) to make sure it actually doesnt boot up.
  5. the specific model were talking about is the clevo NH55JNNQ with the 3070 Ti. i think in general the series would be NH5xJNxx for the various submodels that i saw on the clevo website. ure right lol, this already is the lounge, just need to pimp it up a bit 😋😁 and u and me both super glad we still have desktop cpu models with max flexibility to play around with! 🤠
  6. lol that rumored 900W 4090 Ti type card is smth for @Mr. Fox for suure! 900W at stock means like 2000W unlocked and heavily oced. ready to go dual psu like on the p870? 😁
  7. exactly! plus, u still have some upgrade wiggle room left with your X170 🙂
  8. good decision, that wouldve been a total downgrade! from fully configurable to completely soldered and locked down!
  9. agreed 100% on everything u said 😄 here is the PCS page: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/destian-intel-15/ Note that the pricing differs depending on where you want to ship it to, since they automatically calculate the differing VAT for the respective target country. yeah im looking forward to tweaking the system for my gf, will be loads of fun 🙂 i expect the 12600 should easily fit into the power budget of the system, thus legs fully stretched with no penalty on the boost bins. i also plan to check and see how far i can push the 2x8GB GSkill DDR4-3800 sticks thats ill be giving to her from my current P751DM. the max i can reach with 4 sticks on my Dark Knight is 3433 Mhz (unstable) and I run it at 3333-17-17-17-35 for daily usage (fully rockstable) at 1.20V. as you said, the reduction to 2 slots / sticks should be beneficial to the max speed reachable. but yeah, ull also need luck of the draw in terms of mobo traces and CPU IMC. So......think its time to open up a dedicated owner's lounge? Whos up for it? 😉
  10. oh this is a good topic! first thing i thought off was a modified P5200 gpu for my dark knight. it wouldnt really make sense at this point in time since ive been saving up for two+ years for a monster desktop (which im gonna pull the trigger on once AM5 and RTX40 series become available). would then make most sense to part out the dark knight and sell off the parts to get some cash back in. however, i love this machine to death and id just LOVE to give it one last, grand upgrade (including a new battery, since its died on me like a year ago or so). but yeah, first world problems 😄
  11. luckily in my case petrol consumption is low (we average around 6.3 L / 100km), which also pulls down the tax and insurance considerably. however, petrol prices are insanely high here in europe right now thanks for the war in ukraine (ugh). so in total, including insurance, petrol, maintenance/checkups and tax id say roughly 3500-4000 USD a year. normally im a big advocate for public transport, but in this region it leaves a lot to be desired, since population density is quite low and distances are far. also the reason why this is actually the first car ive ever owned, only bought this march. before that public transport, walking, bicycle everywhere all the way 🙂
  12. The car I am currently driving is literally the first car I have ever owned, actually only recently bought in March (w00t w00t! 🤪) Renault Clio IV from 2017, got it with only 17500 km on the odometer for a steal., so basically a new car. But yeah, I've never been a big petrol head, it's just a tool for me to get around, especially in our region where public transport leaves a lot to be desired. Still, I DO find myself loving it, i mean, hey, it's a different thing when it's your very own amirite? 😎 Besides, first thing I did was to unlock the navigation system (which runs on Windows CE, yikes!) for it to accept non-licensed maps, that was loads of fun (pc enthusiast meets car 😂)
  13. ill be making the order today for my lady's machine at PCS. unfortunately their customer rep wasnt very helpful or knowledgeable (stating that the system supports XMP profiles but does not support JEDEC....like... wat?! 😂) also zero flexibility for getting a barebone from them. in any case, they still offer best bang for the buck in the EU, so thats where ill go. targeted config: - 3070 Ti - 12600 (at approx 9900K OC levels for now its deffo fast enough for her, upgrade to 12900K or raptor lake in a few years) - 2x8 GB DDR4-3800 taken from my Dark Knight (the things you do for love 😋) - 1TB 850 Pro taken from her current Dell Vostro. will give her my 1TB 970 Pro once I upgrade sometime later this year. - AX201 Wifi included in order, will keep that one although unnecessary since shes already rocking an AX200 via m.2 adapter in her Dell Vostro. will have to sell it off on ebay or here. the aim is longevity to the max, if possible to keep her happy with this machine for at least 10 years (shes had her current Dell for 11!). so im guessing after 4-5 years well do one major upgrade for cpu (12900k or better), ram (32 or 64gb), storage (add to the then existing 2TB ssds) and wifi (whatever is current at that time). the gpu im not worried about in terms of performance, thatll definitely be enough for her since her gaming needs are quite frugal. just hope that the gpu will not give out on us sometime down the line. but hey mobo swap is still an option, amirite? 😋 gotta LOVE upgradeable laptops! 😃😁😎
  14. yeah thats basically the single most listed complaint about that case ive seen so far, limited space on the backside for cable management...
  15. cool idea for this thread 😃 OG jaybee83 on NBR:
  16. sweeeet im actually looking at the enthoo pro II as a case for my future build 🙂 any notes from ur experience so far? also looks like ure rocking the arctic freezer II, is that the 420? exactly the one im planning to go for 😁
  17. good guide bud, ive personally been using parted magic in a live ram environment via usb stick to properly reset my ssds every once in a while. helps keep them fresh performanse-wise!
  18. been using the "triumvirate" of thermal pastes ICD, GC Extreme and Kryonaut for ages now, coupled with Gallinstan as a super cheap alternative to brand name liquid metal pastes. still have a huge tube of kryonaut to get through, but looks like there are some new players to check out 🙂 good thread!
  19. in the end it doesnt matter, since u can just limit the max wattage and turn any 9900 sku into an 9900T, basically. but yeah, its definitely a beast inside a laptop and not straight-forward to tame 😄
  20. oh boy that depends on like a gazillion factors.... the bin, clocks, voltage, application, ambient temperature, cooling (paste, delid, surrounding thermal pads, etc.) i have mine set up at 42/44/46/47/47/48/48/50x Multis for 8 to 1 cores in use, respectively, with a -100 mV UV applied to it. Idles around 40-50, goes up to 70C with light use (browser, media consumption, games, office, etc.) and up into the 90s under heavy loads (transcoding, benching, etc.) can go up to 5.2 ghz for benches but yeah, that is definitely not stable for everyday 😄
  21. Have been rocking my current P751DM for about 7 years now: CPU - 6700K (Stock) to 7700K (SL bin) to 9900K (SL bin) Storage 1 - 1TB 850 Pro SATA to 1TB 970 Pro M.2 4x3.0 pcie Storage 2 - Added 2x4TB 860 Evo SATA RAM - Upgraded to 4x8GB DDR4-3800 (dont recall stock config lol) Cooling - Repadded and repasted everything on CPU, GPU, VRMs, PCH with liquid metal, fujipoly pads, kryonaut / Delidded CPU and repasted with liquid metal between die & ihs Wifi - Intel 8265 to Intel AX200 Been thinking about upgrading my 980M to a P5200 for a longer while... At the same time, ive now been saving up for a monster desktop for about 2 years now and planning to drop the cash once AM5 and RTX 40 series come out 😛 decisions, decisions! Maybe ill just do both 😁 My Dark Knight is pretty close to my heart, after all....
  22. very good info my man 😁 - the fact the machine did not boot is a good sign, means that the ram settings actually do something. but at the same time it also means that the settings are hidden at stock. is it possible in xtu to set ram clocks and timings? - check and see if u can do anything with afterburner or precisionx when gpu oc is enabled in bios - good to see that at least TS allows UV. but as mentioned above, xtu might allow us to access ram tweaking? - kool, definitely some tweaking room left there! - whats the behaviour now with e cores disabled vs. enabled? u mentioned before u weirdly get higher temps and lower scores with e cores disabled. absolutely agree on the binning, delidding, proper cooling part of the cpu. the cooler the better to be able and reach lower voltages and thus higher clocks 🙂
  23. dude, youre a rock star! so that suggests that going the K route still has advantages even though we are thermally and TDP limited in this chassis, nice! what do the scores look like with E cores enabled? looks like ill have to check with PCS if theyre willing to ship our unit with either a 12700K or 12900K 😛 in their configurator they only offer non-K skus... really too bad they dont offer barebones, but lets see, never hurts to ask 😉 edit: ok i checked with PCS on RAM compatibility, K CPU availability, Screen options and possibility to purchase the system as a barebone. lets see what they have to say, will keep you guys posted 🙂 also checked with brother Prema, seems like PCS is the only Clevo licensed shop in the EU that offers the 3070 Ti model.
  24. thx for proving my point! 😁🤣 feels good to be back!
