  1. thats what we are currently trying to figure out 😃 in my case CB23 averages 90W cpu load but it goes all the way up to 145W (thats after throttlestop tweaks). but i think theres still some headroom left. btw @win32asmguy are you having any touchpad issues? i sometimes notice something funky: on the desk the touchpad is super laggy, almost non-responsive. but when i put the machine on my lap (both cases connected to AC), the touchpad suddenly works just fine. like, wtf? 😂 will look into the touchpad settings, i have a feeling this is some kinda "accidental input prevention" thingy i need to switch off somewhere....
  2. yeah correct, the overall make-up would be the same internally with a complete enclosure in those other models previously. with the one u linked ull have more flexibility regarding gpu length / thickness and can also choose any ATX psu of your liking to install. only note that even with thunderbolt 4 at 40 Gbps bidirectional = 5 GB/s u are at a disadvantage vs. Pcie 3.0 16x with 32 GB/s bidirectional. Meaning you only have about 16% of the usual bandwidth at your disposal, which will not allow you utilize the full desktop gpu performance. add to that increased latencies due to longer pathways involved. however, the slower / lower tier the gpu, the less of an impact you will see. so a 3090 Ti will lose more % performance than say a 3060.
  3. ela re megale, apo tin patrida? 😁 so i have exactly what youre looking for and located in europe. however, at current not sure yet if ill be upgrading the gpu or not, so this is just a preliminary heads up in case u dont find any other offers 😊
  4. a penny for your thoughts with regards to the next modding projects 😁 gotta love those classic AW tanks!
  5. rockit cool kit is still in the US, but making slow/steady progress towards me 😋 reaaaally curious as to what the max sustained wattage will/can be with sufficiently lowered temps. ideally with UV enabled via unicorn magic 🤠 doesnt surprise me that the 12900ks also works, since were not talking a different cpu here, just a different label haha. @win32asmguy dude, youre really taking the fall here to push community findings on this machine, really appreciate it. hope ill also be able to contribute more soon 😊 @electrosoft dunno how much time / motivation u have for it, but maybe it would make sense to provide some links in the OP to the most important posts here in the thread with findings on clocks, temps, tweaking headroom, etc?
  6. the more expensive (but also more elegant and straight forward) solution would be an egpu enclosure: https://egpu.io/best-egpu-buyers-guide/
  7. cant improve on perfection i guess....can only make it worse haha
  8. very interesting tech indeed. just wondering about build quality and any potential catches (i.e. insufficient power / signal delivery over the PCIe connector....)
  9. based on rumors, there might be something going on from Nvidia's side, i.e. Clevo wanted to do a "3090 Ti" MXM version but were not allowed to go through with it. other ODMs might also be pushing against this kind of upgradeability, since that would let their full on BGA machines look like the insta-junk they really are 😄 as for the NH55JNNQ, the gpu is soldered, everything else is socketed. dear god i sure hope Clevo holds on to desktop cpu machines as long as possible.... i totally would not mind a desktop CPU machine with the space reserved for dedicated GPU used for a maximized 100Wh battery and proper FULL support of thunderbolt external GPUs. that would be sweet! HOWEVER, on the upgradeability path for older machines, there is still a way forward, albeit costly and rare: MXM quadros. aside from the P5000 / P5200 (Pascal), RTX 5000 (Turing), were now at RTX A4500 (Ampere), and they ALL come in standard MXM form factors 🙂
  10. the only good thing about this system is its potential inclusion of an MXM socketable gpu which can then be extracted for use in a proper DTR 😄 btw, any pricing info on those backpacks yet? i heard from someone that the stand-alone mxm A4500 easily goes for 3500 USD, so the whole system price should be "interesting", to say the least... 😅
  11. oh wow had to look up LTX golden samples, not sure i was aware of that 🙂 naturally, we expected final results and rankings of all the tested 10900Ks! 😛
  12. i must admit, the thought actually has crossed my mind to get a 3090 Ti once 4000 series is out. itll really depend on the nextgen pricing vs. price drop on 30 series cards (if any). at the same time, after having saved up for 2.5 years i just wanna spoil myself for once and get the best of the best 😛 this, of course, is with the thought to maximize the base for future upgrades and get max lifetime out of the system (just like im doing currently with my Dark Knight 😉 ) in any case, its ridiculous that Nvidia is now "shocked and desperate" after the TOTALLY EXPECTED downfall of a) mining b) pandemic-related hardware craze c) having a monopol on high-end graphics cards (AMD aint happy either but i think their mining impact was somewhat lesser due to far lower total volumes of cards in circulation).
  13. duuuude....this will have serious RAMifications! 😁 good luck with the sale, i checked through your list but unfortunately nothing for me this time around 🙂
  14. me and my lady did a "for her" / "for him" double last weekend, starting wirh Marry Me (which was surprisingly entertaining) and then followed by Moonfall (surprisingly dull, but at least unexpected ending). damn JLo looks so fine at her age! 😋😁
  15. definitely put everything up in the marketplace here, lets give it a healthy boost 🙂 im also planning to put up parts from my lady's old machine, even found an NBT buyer for some of the parts before even posting here haha
  16. yep your conclusion is spot on with regards to the ssd performance. sata vs nvme barely makes any difference in everyday operations, unless u transfer huge files back and forth. the big jump is only going from spinning rust to ssd in general, after that those big PR performance numbers are just that...
  17. hm, try again on your report 😄 as to your initial questions: 1) 8 vs. 4 cores and increased ipc will surely bring snappier performance. also if u bump up the ram speed to 3200 mhz or above. ram amount shouldnt matter unless u usually have a gazillion chrome tabs open. 2) sure makes sense. only bottleneck will be if it bothers u to lug it around externally. alternatively, u can sell off the 4TB sata and invest the money to get a 4TB nvme. theyre not THAT much more expensive anymore. 3) if youre used to 15, then 17 will be noticeably larger. but in the end it depends on the display res and also the scaling u set vs. the available work space density (if that makes sense) that it results in.
  18. seems like extreme climate brings out extreme overclockers 😎 us moderates dont stand a chance! now being back in central europe i miss the humid hot equator climate from south east asia (spent last 4.5 yrs there?. im glad its now almost summer here so that helps, but tbh im totally solar powered, so the more heat n sun the better for me 🤠
  19. absolutely recommend ANYone to play through the series! took me ages to finally get around to beat the first installment, but the next two were a breeze (life got in the way haha). absolutely brilliant story, character development, gameplay mechanics and indeed the graphics were very well thought through and atmospheric. cant wait for bioshock 4 to drop!
  20. haha yep exactly that! heres the vid i was referring to: caution, overabundance of electrifying puns 😋
