As far as I can tell, it appears to be one of the few 14in laptops that have a u series 10th gen Intel CPU + MX350 graphics + replaceable RAM/storage/WiFi card, however I have no way to confirm any of this since so little information exists about it out in the wild. I'm wondering if anyone can find more information about it.

9900t sounds like a better fit, it performs around a 2700X, but eBay prices are a bit expensive. -

I think those can be bootloader unlocked, which would allow you to replace the entire OS.- 158 replies

What have you upgraded on your current laptop(s)?
K4sum1 replied to Sandy Bridge's topic in Components & Upgrades
I want to get a new card for my 8770W eventually (probably either gonna fix my 980m or upgrade to the 1070), but I bought a T430 as something more portable that I can browse the web on and play some lighter games. For now I put the 3630QM and 16GB of RAM that was in my 8770W in the T430, but I'm not sure what else I should do. Probably should have just dealt with my 980m from my 8770W being broken until I could fix it, but I have wanted something a bit more portable. -

K4sum1 replied to Sandy Bridge's topic in Components & Upgrades
Why is such a complex mod needed for a card (1070), which fits just fine in other older laptops like the 8770W? -

I didn't know Librewolf existed, thanks for posting about it, I'll have to check it out. I've been thinking of switching to Firefox Developer Edition, but I think I'd prefer a more Waterfox style fork that follows current Firefox releases, and Librewolf seems to be it.- 158 replies

K4sum1 replied to Katja's topic in Mobile Devices & Gadgets
For someone, like me, who likes collecting old smartphones, that might make them even cheaper to buy. -
Well, I decided to put the old FirePro M4000 it came with back in. I'm not sure what is wrong, but it's not something that can be easily fixed.

https://files.catbox.moe/1vsfgo.mp4 Video is shaky because I've rerecorded this a few times, so my arm was getting tired. I think it's a VRAM issue since it crashes to a screen that has a color, however I think it's fully dead as this is after modding the BIOS to have a lower core clock, and a 1000MHz lower memory clock. Windows 10 is the only one that sometimes boots in normal mode, 8.1/10 are the only ones that sometimes boots into safe mode. Safe mode doesn't crash if I can get it to boot, but the artifacts are still there.

I looked at the tests I found, and it doesn't seem like very good testing. It appears they did only one of each test, and when they did multiple tests, they took the maximum instead of the median or mean. I'll probably have to do some tests myself, however, I'm also very lazy. One thing I do know is that WDDM 1.0 has better smoothness, could be due to rendering the UI in DX 9 instead of DX 11 in 7, but I'm not sure. 7 runs better without GPU drivers installed, no matter the vendor or driver version. I also think I heard that with the platform update and supplement, the RAM usage is about on par with 7 when a WDDM 1.1 driver is used. (WDDM 1.1 is compatible with 1.0) It is something I'd have to test though. 8.x does perform better and is more stable than 7. I usually stick with 7 though due to better compatibility than 8 (artificial incompatibility sucks), and 7 just looks better.
-
Actually, that is what happened. If anything, 7 is slightly slower compared to Vista on equivalent hardware.

I was only around for XenForo, but I have used old vBulletin boards before, and they seem decent.

I assume you mean better moderation tools? The user frontend for XenForo was better, however I'll probably shut up when all the cool things come along.

Having subforums in subforums would make navigating the site a bit tedious. Look at General Software & Hardware, look at the subforums. It would be a bad idea to make Microsoft Software a subforum, and have all the current subforums in that subforum. Smaller hitbox and it doesn't look as good. In fact if you want to see how that looks, take a look at a clone board, http://forum.eclectic4un.me/. It has your idea with Microsoft Software as a subforum and it looks bad. It's also more dead than Eclipse, so.

So I never violated that rule when I was on NBR? I don't think that is possible. I'm pretty sure that is very limited compared to normal Invision. I think I looked at it before, but I may be thinking of another board software.

I had edited the post since I realized how that sounded. What I had meant was that I haven't done much research into what addons exist for Invision, and I edited the post after I had posted to reflect that better. Also Invision isn't something I can just quickly grab and test, I would have to drop about $250 for just the forum software. About the same amount of money I would spend on hosting for my phpBB board for 4-5 years assuming the price stays the same. I could just yarr harr it, but it's something that is hosted online, and hosting an illegal copy of forum software seems like a good way to get caught. The rules are currently buried in the marketplace. I did take a look at them, but I either stopped because it is college essay length, or the rule banning profanity was edited in after the fact. I don't know which. (probably the former) My main gripes are with functions of the software (and sometimes the people that use it, which is also why I hate things like MEE6, YAGPBD, and whatever else, even though they technically did nothing wrong, it's just something that I can easily blame) Invision does actually have some aspects of it that I dislike, but people never care, so I won't go into why. Go dig it up the NBR archive if you are bothered enough to want to know.

If you can get Invision on to function on par with phpBB when using Firefox 3.6.28, I will give you $0.00 Well, I don't know much about Invision addons (other than a lot are paid), but I recommend using Google, or DuckDuckGo if that's more your thing. https://board.eclipse.cx/ Also, I was only pointing it out since the post specifically mentioned outdated addons. If something updated in 2021 or 2022 was posted, I wouldn't have replied. This is impossible to say without being rude, but you don't need to argue. I'm not trying to argue, just pointing out things.

You look at the forum and patch it. Not as hard as you think. I like how you linked an addon last updated in 2015.
