wth man...Nvidia doing their best to confuse their customers "oh look, that other 4080 only has 4 gigs less vRAM but so much cheaper! same card, same performance! such a DEAL!" 🤦♂️☠️ on the bright side, just received my Samsung Odyssey Neo G8, holy crap is that a HUGE monitor! and amazing colors and blacks, dayum... still need to do some finetuning though. plus, my laptop isnt even strong enough to drive it at 240 Hz, max i can get is 96 🤣 just a fewwww more weeks... -

ha, im only reporting from laptop-land still but ive never used any xmp profiles cuz they never booted in the first place *lol* so it was always manual RAM tuning for me 😄 -

MSI GT75/73 with AMD RX 5700 advice for Heat Sink
jaybee83 replied to Rengsey R. H. Jr.'s topic in Components & Upgrades
ah, good ol' woodzstack, always lending a helping hand for us poor chaps looking for parts 🙂 -
well one thing is for sure, every new windows version needs a lot of work and customization to make it run proper. so with that in mind, with a bit of patience and elbow grease u can also make win11 an every-day driver.

take out the keyboard, clean all the connections on both the cable and socket sides, then reseat. maybe that helps. otherwise, as @runix18 already suggested, u might have a faulty LED cable, thus time for a new kb.

yep, its funny how the crysis team forced the enhanced edition off the net in order to push through their own, INFERIOR remastered version 🤣 talk about misreading the room!

similar approach to @Clamibot, but i dont use soap. basically just a cloth that ive previously rinsed with warm water and wrought out so thats its just damp enough to transfer some moisture and use that to get rid of any dirt / dust / oil buildup. i generally dont recommend to use isoprop on any plastic surfaces since its known to be able and leave permanent stains (depending on the plastic). -

sweet find! every little bit helps, and i especially like the part where power envelope is easily unlocked for this model 🙂 ha, im guessing the vendors couldnt be bothered with increased RMA rates due to huge desktop coolers crushing the brittle silicon chips beneath their high pressure mounting systems 😄 in laptops u only have wimpy lil heatsinks that have barely enough pressure to be kept in place during transport 😅 at least we still got delidding and direct die blocks to help us out in that regard. i got my trigger finger ready... 🤠 -
especially considering that Arc is now a dead platform....yay....but lets see, maybe theyll do a 180 and discard the X270 before it even actually releases? lulz agreed, in current times DTRs and monster desktops are absolute luxuries to be talking about or considering spending crazy amounts of money on... (says the guy getting ready to spend a buttload of greens on his new build 😅)

nice job bud, im sure tons of peeps appreciate what ure doing here 🙂 looking at your sig, are u able to push the RAM further or does it cap out at 3333? also be sure to tighten up secondary and tertiary timings, as well, they bring quite a singificant boost to the table after primary timings have been taken care of 🙂

yep, lets hope nextgen clevos will bring something other than the all-intel X270 BGA abomination 😵

M18x R2 - Display overclocking using Custom Resolution Utility
jaybee83 replied to GMP's topic in Alienware 18 and M18x
good job on getting CRU to work, definitely a very nifty tool to have 🙂 as for refresh rate testing, be careful and take it step by step. i know its more time consuming, but its better to just go in 5 Hz steps or so. if u go too high too fast u might get stuck in a black screen or with artifacts / glitches. as for stability testing, ull be able to see it very quickly if a refresh rate is stable or not. its not like overclocking or undervolting cpu/gpu/ram where errors might need several hours or days to show up. just be sure to have a close look, sometimes its just a thin green line or similar showing signs of an unstable refresh rate setting. more obvious signs is a total black screen or big artifacts / glitches with crazy rainbow colors all over the place. enjoy! 🙂 -
agreed with the above, do not mess with swollen batteries, total fire / explosion hazard. get rid of the battery and look for a replacement.
