  1. update on the neptune 4090, power range is 550 to 630W: https://m.expreview.com/85168.html
  2. yep ive seen this behaviour early on in reviews, i think it was HUB. i didnt know about the higher gaming perf with just one CCD though! wth guys, why do we always need ro deactivate smth, baby cores or a ccd with the new cpus? 😅 need to check how mine is behaving, apparently not all cpus show this behaviour. still busy installing and setting up everything, havent gotten around to much tuning yet.
  3. still setting up Hyperion and already encountered some driver install issues, but for now im just barreling through all my apps n games to get it done asap. in any case, was just curious to check it out (naturally 😛), so did some quick n dirty oc on the 4090 with MSI AB, ended up with 3150 Mhz Core and 24.1 Gbps on the VRAM. hot dayum!
  4. noice, desktop boiiiis lets goooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  5. resist that temptation! get another sku instead for like 500 bucks less 😄 would be nice for corsair to get a bit more competition in that space. pricing is comparably crazy but at least with EVGA i have hope that there might be some worthwhile extras with it like software, tuning ability, good fans, etc. and not just an apple-esque "name" tax. word.
  6. also stock psu and whenever i do stress testing im also reaching that 260W, thats the cap on the mobo. but ive only ever experienced sudden shutdowns when allowing the CPU to get consistently over 98-100C. i could imagine that maybe the nearby VRMs also get too hot and thus inefficient to be able and stay stable.
  7. btw guys, preliminary review on the 13900K, apparently some lucky dude ordered one online and they actually send it out to him 😄
  8. wooooooooow.... dont drop it dude! 😅
  9. wouldve been an awesome way to pass the waiting time, getting to know Arc in depth and providing tons of info to the community here :) too bad theres nothing available...
  10. thats the thing, one one side u have expensive parts and platform but long-term support, on the other hand u have a dead-end platform with more value options (i.e. lower end cpus and DDR4)
  11. true, prices didnt help at all. means intel will not be able to charge anything similar, even if its at a slight discount vs. Zen4. probably why theyre planning to lay off such a huge number of their employees, keep those margins high! https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-10-11/intel-is-planning-thousands-of-job-cuts-in-face-of-pc-slowdown im guessing platform cost for one, having two chipsets instead of one for X670E, add to that DDR5 only, PCIe 5, just too many new tech revisions all at once. plus they were likely super confident on the back of their Zen3 success and with 1 month+ of having the market to themselves before Intel's RPL. i guess they were a bit too optimistic haha
  12. we will only find out once RPL and 7000X3D drop, if this is really due to market decline or poor reception 😄
  13. ure right my man, forgot to tell u that the Thor series is insanely expensive in comparison 😅 as for which gpu side to pick, if you can (unlike me) wait for it, let RDNA3 drop first and only then make the decision 🙂 that would be the strategic thing to do.
  14. awesome to see another mobile DTR bro switching to the fabled desktop land 😄 u could maybe also go with an ROG Thor P2 1000W, its not white all around but has interesting bright accents: can (almost) never go wrong with either Corsair or Seasonic for PSUs, with EVGA models currently being pretty brilliant bang-per-buck value. saner heads have prevailed....phew. this was an important lesson for scalpers that its not worth anymore to do it with gpus. maybe theyll now move on to sneakers or smth 😛 no judgement here bud, were all a bit OCD one way or another. anyone who says otherwise is lying 😄 you know, i dont like admitting that, but i kinda feel the same way. its not like I LOVE it now, design-wise, but it has also indeed grown on me, while i initially hated it. kinda like that taste of alcohol or cigarettes? 🤣 all acquired tastes (and nah, i dont smoke and barell ever drink anymore 😛 ) in any case though, i absolutely LOVE my Suprim X! 🥰😍
  15. nice, glad u found ur way back to the NBR/NBT fold, the more the merrier! 🙂
  16. overkill, you say? nah, we generally dont do that around here....
  17. what was it again? smth like there are only two things assumed to he infinite: the universe (unproven yet) and human stupidity (pretty proven by this point) 😅 i esp like the part where DLSS3 basically only makes sense at high frame rates and high refresh rate monitors....thus the setups that need it the least lulz. in other news: Asus as the new EVGA binning chips for a Kingpin style card? Link: https://www.overclock.net/threads/official-nvidia-rtx-4090-owners-club.1800847/post-29046173
  18. this is so dumb...might as well just do a tdp cap, either way ure limiting the cpu's performance so that it cant stretch its legs properly. ppl need to understand that the 95C does not mean "oh hot cpu, bad thermals, danger!", its just another algo that maxes out ur cooling solution so that u automatically get max performance. good to see that my x670e extreme is at the forefront for new features, but this is deffo one i will not be using 😂 thx for the headsup bro papu! got another find regarding 4090: the latest asus gpu tweak III and msi AB beta now support voltage adjustment! can thus up the previous max core voltage from 1.05 to now 1.1V. first users reporting around +150 Mhz max boost, now at 3160Mhz instead of previously 3015Mhz ish. this is getting insane guys, esp considering this is still all air cooled and with totally reasonable temps! but now of course higher wattage vbios becomes more important...
  19. thats BS though, might as well apply a lower power cap, ud be limiting the cpu either way 😄
