  1. only to a point. most people just go by hardware "names", i.e. = hey look! this 1kg slim laptop with 12 hours battery life has the same 3080 gpu in it as the 5kg DTR with only 1 hour battery life! SAME PERFORMANCE! ๐Ÿคช
  2. um...how do get display output? are u running on integrated graphics? in general, that entry in the bios doesnt really mean anything, as long as the card itself works ๐Ÿ™‚
  3. its always a question of how you spin it: u might as well build a whole ecosystem with repair shops and socketable hardware upgrades to support a platform for many years to come. that way you could argue that ur revenue per machine is much much higher than a single use disposable thin n light BGA turdbook.
  4. yep, of course, youre right, thats the big issue here: the sheeple want thin n light crap and the companies follow the big trends / go wherever demand takes them. thats how they make money. unfortunately, the group of people wanting big fat high performance DTRs becomes smaller and smaller each year...
  5. well...depends. cpus also need mobo based mosfets and depend on system ram. if you do the same for the gpu, i.e. provide the mosfets on the mobo and socketable vram....why not? ๐Ÿ˜
  6. ha, when i saw this thead i instantly thought to myself: I LIKE BOATS! (Jayztwocents) ๐Ÿ˜„ (now THATS an ad that works, i dont even play!)
  7. haha kool, keep a lookout on the marketplace here then ๐Ÿ˜‰
  8. yep, brilliant answer bud! the problem isnt that we would like to have ONLY DTRs, but that there is a lack of choice. we had BGA only thin n light crap in the olden days, as well. but nowadays its all there is on the market....no more choice ๐Ÿ˜
  9. Clevo FTW in this regard ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  10. i was referring to a desktop cpu coupled with an MXM gpu. not a desktop chip on an mxm board ๐Ÿ˜„ although Khenglish has shown that even that is actually possible haha
  11. just throw a desktop cpu in the machine, couple it with a proper MXM card with beefy power delivery and dont define an interchangeable hardlock on cpu+gpu wattage. let both go as high as temps let you. voila, u got urself a real DTR that could easily use a 660W psu at the same dimensions of the previous 330W ๐Ÿ˜›๐Ÿ˜‰
  12. how about SteamOS or the newly released ChromeOS for any PC? that would totally suit ur machine im sure ๐Ÿคฃ
  13. haha yep, wasnt too serious about that suggestion anyways, ull likely have problems with signal integrity and power delivery if you stack them up like that.... but just based on sensibility, there SHOULD be an adapter going from 3042 directly to 2030 ๐Ÿค” have u checked on aliexpress / ebay?
  14. lets see if that stays that way after the previous experience haha. fingers crossed!
  15. well for now u definitely have the double adapter route *lol* 3042 to mpcie followed by mpcie to 2030 ๐Ÿ˜…
  16. in general, the continuous development of more efficient psus is definitely a good thing. i like seeing a new 330W model with smaller dimensions. BUT (and this is a biggens) the unfortunate reality is that the industry nowadays only tries to do less with more instead of MORE with more. so with a more efficient psu design u can either go smaller dimensions at same wattage OR higher wattage at same dimensions. weve got the former....but where is the latter? ๐Ÿคจ
  17. im getting the popcorn ready: ryan vs. Katja's gf in the fight of their lives haha
  18. thats pretty good, id say around 200 GB is the point at which i could stop checking my data usage per month altogether and just do whatever i ususlly do.
  19. nice! so at least it seems like the new bios DID indeed improve mem compatibility? iirc u werent able to reach 7000 before, right? capped out at 6800?
  20. dude, you have noooo idea what u just said ๐Ÿ˜‚ so lemme be a tease once more: IF we are successful with this mod and it brings ACTUAL performance and functionality advantages to the table, then there MIGHT be some vendors who would partner up with the unicorn rainbow master on this for our machines ๐Ÿคช all of this purely hypothetical and a total mind construct, naturally ๐Ÿ˜‰
  21. funny thing is, some big customer companies pay for that extended support but in the end, all those additional updates trickle down to all win7 lovers ๐Ÿ˜›
