    wouldnt surprise me in the least if absolutely nothing changed on the bga pinout and its running juuust fine with newer cpu gens. so much for the artificial BS socket change every other cpu gen, at least with intel....

    ok cool, thx for that bud. as far as i can tell space is definitely a concern (as usual in a laptop), combined with the actual mounting. will have to check and see if the heatsink mounting is compatible and the backplate plays ball with the contact frame... will let you guys know once i know more! right now still enjoying my vacay in greece 😁 btw, fun fact: seems like Bitwit Kyle Hansen was in greece at the same time, but i bet he had quite the different kinda trip hahaha

    interesting info, thx for the confirm. that previous 3080 is nothing special since other vendors also offer those in socketable format. however, its weird that nvidia blocked clevo from bringing a 3080 ti mxm to market while they allowed Dell to do such... i imagine it could have smth to do with the crazy non standard form factor specific to a single laptop model....

    be sure that this is not due to poorly fitted heatsink vs actual thermal paste quality. liquid metal in the former case would do absolutely nothing and give u worse temps than any regular paste, actually... perfect fit is key in that regard

    are you sure thats an actual 3080 Ti card and not an A5500 "rebadged"? cuz the specs would be identical...

    kool man, take your time! btw guys, what do you think about smth like the TG contact frame? GN did one of their fantastic, super accurate reviews and found on average a 7C drop in temps, thats basically equivalent to a delid! would it be possible space wise and mounting wise to install such a contact frame on our NH55 socket? hmmmm, i am definitely intrigued by this...

    might be a silly Q but have u tried intel xtu? sometimes its able to show options that are not available in the bios.

    yep totally agree....i dont get why EVGA FTW3 cards are SO freaking expensive here in europe, like....wtf! compare that with an MSI Suprim X and ure looking at roughly 800€ (!!!) price difference for a new 3090 Ti at exactly the same performance. the only advantage, albeit a significant one, with EVGA is the option to extend the warranty to 5 or 10 years vs. MSI's 3 years non-extendable. although one might just as well purchase a third party warranty at that point...

    not sure if AMD would have the manpower and budget to support mxm gpus for such a niche market (with everything basically being bga at this point). but yeah, would be nice thing to see! all AMD DTR with Zen 4 desktop cpu and MXM RDNA3 gpu, anyone? 😁
