m17x r4 not detecting gtx 980m in unlocked bios
jaybee83 replied to ChuckWhip's topic in Alienware 17 and M17x
um...how do get display output? are u running on integrated graphics? in general, that entry in the bios doesnt really mean anything, as long as the card itself works ๐ -
its always a question of how you spin it: u might as well build a whole ecosystem with repair shops and socketable hardware upgrades to support a platform for many years to come. that way you could argue that ur revenue per machine is much much higher than a single use disposable thin n light BGA turdbook.
-
yep, of course, youre right, thats the big issue here: the sheeple want thin n light crap and the companies follow the big trends / go wherever demand takes them. thats how they make money. unfortunately, the group of people wanting big fat high performance DTRs becomes smaller and smaller each year...

ha, when i saw this thead i instantly thought to myself: I LIKE BOATS! (Jayztwocents) ๐ (now THATS an ad that works, i dont even play!)
-
haha kool, keep a lookout on the marketplace here then ๐

Clevo FTW in this regard ๐

man that guy sounds stressed.... ๐ -
just throw a desktop cpu in the machine, couple it with a proper MXM card with beefy power delivery and dont define an interchangeable hardlock on cpu+gpu wattage. let both go as high as temps let you. voila, u got urself a real DTR that could easily use a 660W psu at the same dimensions of the previous 330W ๐๐

how about SteamOS or the newly released ChromeOS for any PC? that would totally suit ur machine im sure ๐คฃ -
Buy non-original battery ...or not?
jaybee83 replied to 6730b's topic in Pro Max & Precision Mobile Workstation
lets see if that stays that way after the previous experience haha. fingers crossed! -
in general, the continuous development of more efficient psus is definitely a good thing. i like seeing a new 330W model with smaller dimensions. BUT (and this is a biggens) the unfortunate reality is that the industry nowadays only tries to do less with more instead of MORE with more. so with a more efficient psu design u can either go smaller dimensions at same wattage OR higher wattage at same dimensions. weve got the former....but where is the latter? ๐คจ

How many spinning hard drives do you have in your desktop?
jaybee83 replied to Sandy Bridge's topic in Desktop Hardware
im getting the popcorn ready: ryan vs. Katja's gf in the fight of their lives haha -
thats pretty good, id say around 200 GB is the point at which i could stop checking my data usage per month altogether and just do whatever i ususlly do.

nice! so at least it seems like the new bios DID indeed improve mem compatibility? iirc u werent able to reach 7000 before, right? capped out at 6800? -
dude, you have noooo idea what u just said ๐ so lemme be a tease once more: IF we are successful with this mod and it brings ACTUAL performance and functionality advantages to the table, then there MIGHT be some vendors who would partner up with the unicorn rainbow master on this for our machines ๐คช all of this purely hypothetical and a total mind construct, naturally ๐

funny thing is, some big customer companies pay for that extended support but in the end, all those additional updates trickle down to all win7 lovers ๐
