    huh thats weird. but i remember that i actually disabled VMD right off the bat while diving into BIOS, following the rule of thumb: disable anything u dont need to lean the firmware 😛

    yep i agree on that part, the cpu heatsink couldve definitely used another heatpipe or two *sigh* but tbh im just glad we were still able to get a current LGA system into my ladys's hands for future-proofing and easier servicing (even though the GPU is BGA and yes it makes my heart bleed)

    in general its best to flash everything in one, because there might be some incompatibilities between older / newer versions of EC/EC2/Bios.

    in general, dsanke bios has made a good impression in the community, u can check the NBR archive for the respective Dsanke threads for more info. just make sure u have the correct bios for ur machine. the blind flash is tricky, as its name implies 😄 u basically keep Fn+B pressed, then press power button and only let it go after "a while". it helps to use a usb stick with an inbuilt LED, so that u at least know when it starts to be accessed. without that, ull just have to make a "best guess", i.e. let it sit for like 20-30 minutes to make 100% sure the flash went through. then shut down the machine (unless it does so by itself), power it on again and hope for the best! for the inbuilt recovery to work your bios image has to have a specific format and file naming though, its different for every clevo machine....

    i do, but not taking responsibility since i dont own your machine 😄 Fn+D is like a cmos reset, but that wont help if you brick your pc due to a bad / incompatible bios flash... however, there is an inbuilt bios recovery that can be activated via FN+B, but in that case ud have to do a blind flash on a black screen.

    you know it, with any laptop / machine in general u cant leave things at stock, tuning is required to get the beast unleashed 😉 give us some more time on this, theres definitely more we can get out of it!

    yeah the issue here is that NBC is just running everything full stock and hitting it with prime95 😛 this is nothing new, every clevo needs some massaging before it can stretch its legs 😄 issue here being that the control center limits the max wattage depending on the profile and heatwise the stock setup aint perfect. the system can definitely let the cpu pull 140W from what weve seen so far, currently trying to tune the heat 🙂

    you and me both! 😄 foh sho! 🤠 hey man, thats likely due to their balanced settings in the control center, we found that different profiles set different wattage limits. weve seen peak at 140W with long term 90W but theres still some heat-related tuning to be had here, give us some more time 🙂 edit: ok they did actually set it to performance it seems, but there are still fairly aggresive temp and wattage limits set at stock that can be alleviated via throttlestop!

    thx for bringing this (back) to my attention, i was actually aware of the fairphone previously but havent paid much attention to it. im currently looking for a new phone for my lady's bday, and i know she would be all over this (shes a "sustainability enthusiast" in her own words haha). although i must say im not convinced on pricing and clunkiness yet, hmmm....

    did a quick check on those components here in europe, they would total 965 USD bought new. Things to consider: - removing the 19% VAT you would end up with 811 USD - shipping is not included - delidding and binning service already included here - reputable source i would say definitely not a bad offer!

    dude, for serious excel sheets ull need all the clocks u can get, especially from cpu and ram 😄 (and yes, i AM being serious here, no sarcasm!)

    you know the drill: - pictures (outside and innards) - hardware specs / benchmark results - impressions on the QHD screen (how far can you overclock it?) - bios & vbios versions / wattages / temps 😛

    although it looks quite sad if this is indeed the X170 successor, i havent given up hope yet that there might be another successor or at least another submodel that is not exclusively Intel (CPU & GPU).

    yes and no. vRAM is adjustable on the dGPU via Afterburner, but gpu core clock dont change, no matter what ive tried.
