  1. yeah man that makes total sense, squeeze some more life outta that monster 3090KP! and LOL nope it was more along the lines of Batman - Bruce Wayne - Alfred 😂 although Alfred is way more powerful gpu wise, with cpu perf being roughly on par (crazy how far tech has come, 9900K = 12600 non-K lol)
  2. haha let me clarify on this: clevo had already implemented the capability into the KM heatsink to properly support a 3080 Ti mxm card, but Nvidia blocked them from developing and releasing the mxm card. unfortunately, without the green goblin's say so theres nothing u can do as an ODM / OEM.
  3. dude u and me both with regards to 4000 pricing. at this point in time anything is possible, ranging from ridiculous prices due to scalpers all the way to rock bottom prices due to the market being saturated with all the leftover 3000 series cards...
  4. if xmp doesnt work right off the bat, try and switch to manual mode to dial in the best timings that particular mobo/cpu imc/ram combo can support. its not just all or nothing, but it needs tweaking.
  5. duuuude thats sweet LOL. what 1080 version are u using? does it need external power that u siphoned off somewhere on the mobo?
  6. lets all go crash at @Reciever's place, bigass NBT partaaaaaaay 🎉🤣 edit: huh, the search function still only shows 493 members, how come?
  7. lets recap: gpu drivers install fine (no error messages), but once installed the internal screen goes blank? but external display still provides an output? have u cleaned up with DDU before installing a different driver? does the internal screen work normally before gpu drivers are installed? what happens if u reboot into safe mode with a gpu driver installed?
  8. glad to hear, definitely smth to keep in mind for future battery purchases 🙂 also good choice on that 980, its basically the best performing DRAM-less SSD out there.
  9. 10900K laptop wars galore 😁👌🏼
  10. Clevo itself never offered gpu upgrade kits, this was only done through vendors like eurocom. but the possibility alone to have such a gpu in a socketable form factor would mean that it will at some point be available on the aftermarket and thus to potentially upgrade older machines. edit: re-read your post, so afaik Clevo had already implemented the heatsink capability to accommodate a larger gpu die as found on the 3080 Ti laptop gpu in the X170KM. but yeah, green goblin wouldnt let that happen...
  11. huh, interesting. thx for the headsup, wasnt aware of the name change! and yeah, Tongfang kinda feels like a new Clevo haha.
  12. um....im confused. whats the topic of this thread? lol 😅
  13. thats ok man, ure doing the best u can. a few hiccups here and there are to be expected. besides, no harm done, wouldve been much worse if the account was hacked!
  14. likely gpu related, could be defective vRAM.
  15. hey guys, greetz from my vacay in greece 😄 i found the part number for the 280W brick, in case anyone is interested: Chicony A18-280P1A Since i dont have the machine with me right now, could anyone check the outer diameter of the power plug facing the laptop? @win32asmguy@GT3000 that chicony psu comes in three different flavours, two of which are round barrel type. one is 7.4x5.0 mm outer/inner, the other is 5.5x2.5 mm outer/inner. the NBC review of the raptor x15 actually shows a peak consumption at 260W so im hopeful that connecting the 280W psu will allow the system to draw more power. max ive seen so far was exactly at the 230W limit of the stock psu. in any case, ive already found several different sites where this psu can be sourced from, with prices ranging 100-135€.
  16. that was more towards ur account having been accessed to edit your previous post, thats why i suggested changing ur password 😋 but true, in theory a mod or admin account with post editing privileges might have also been hacked, alternatively. but i would start with securing your own account first.
  17. agreed, although still not abligatory features yet, moving forward DLSS, RT, etc will only become more wide spread and important. curious to see if AMD's non-Tensor open alternatives will force Nvidia to switch at some point similar to Gsync vs. Freesync previously. in the long run, open source running on regular gpu cores trumps proprietary software running on custom Tensor cores.
  18. i can imagine a potential lure would be more control over privacy, more flexibility on customizations and a truly open system.
  19. i actually just set a linear custom fan curve and the machine stays super quiet, no worries on that front. and whenever full perf under heavy load is required i switch to full blast Fn+1. for my lady the latter is never really necessary, so shes a happy camper 🙂 for info: i set the fans to only start ramping up at 60C and above, then did a linear curve from 60 to 100C going from 34 to 100% fan speed. so the middle set point between the two ends resulted in 80C with 67% fan speed 😋
